  1. Having looked again I think you’re right.
  2. You can’t really go wrong with a passive P because they’re so basic. My favourite that I’ve owned is a mexican fender that I swapped the pickups to Lindy fralin. With flats it’s now up there with any post ‘70 fender.
  3. They’re bartolinis. Could be an original fender body with and then everything else is parts as that decal is fake. The bottom of the neck might be stamped
  4. Why not look at the m7 or v7/9/10 if you find the Sire comfortable? I really notice the difference between 18-19 mm spacing and 34”-35” scale lengths, and went through quite a few fivers before realising I need 18mm and 34” to be comfortable.
  5. That switch makes a huge difference! Can imagine it being very useful if you wanted to quickly dial in a slap section
  6. Haha, you should enjoy it mate. I reckon if you ever did let go it would be on the list of regrets. When I joined basschat years ago I would be swapping and changing basses every 6-12 months. Luckily from that I realised I had a gem of a Fender already which I still own with a custom Overwater. Just need a decent 5 string.... I’ve already said somewhere on this forum I wouldn’t own a Sadowsky because it doesn’t tick the tone box for me, although in a gig situation I think the preamp cuts through the mix better than most. Also they are very well built and easy to play.
  7. For me, playability and a deep warm tone. The closest I’ve found to perfection is the KS you now own. Hopefully once I’ve got married I’ll be able to save up for one too.
  8. I’ve never had an issue with a weak B on a Warwick, what are you comparing it to?
  9. that's a lot of tone for £1k. A nice little arrangement there too.
  10. Gig the fender and keep the flea bass for fun at home? I would love one if I had the chance.
  11. Have you done it yet? Hit the button Matt, hit the goddam button.
  12. Regarding the CS basses, they’re not mass produced so they are likely to be slightly inconsistent but with longer hours spent on quality checking should mean that none of them are bad basses. The OP is asking for people who have owned multiple PP basses. I don’t think there will be many who have the money to do that.
  13. I think a lot of it is that they have been quite hard to get hold of in the UK yet they’re very desirable. Especially when you don’t include shipping there have been some advertised around the 2k mark, which is a lot less than thomann
  14. If you like low action maybe look at a status graphite replacement?
  15. Get one of the used black ones on eBay at half the price and sand off the finish?
  16. The guys at Wunjo have been good to me quite a few times when I’ve nearly bought a bass off them. When I was 17 they had a 67 p bass which was wonderful. I was really tempted at the time but didn’t have the knowledge about old basses like I do now so could have made a mistake paying so much. The second time was a Phillipe Dubrielle bass. I’d never heard of him before but he was on Denmark Street and they offered to introduce me. Managed to resist both times but I’ll be going back when I’m in a position to buy a bass again. I love the idea of owning the series 1 Alembic they currently have.
  17. Nobody else seems to be partaking so I’ll give you the results. It seems you were fairly split except for the expensive bass not being bass B, which of course it was. A: 2006 MIM Fender Precision. This has flatwounds which gave it the really rich and deep voice. Vol on 80% and Tone 60%. I also upgraded the pickups to Lindy Fralins which has improved the tone a lot. B: 2017 Overwater custom jazz fretless. I adore this bass and have really gone for a Jaco theme. The strings were new steels and the balance was more bridge pickup biased with low action that will have made it sound possibly too zingy. It was also hard to hide the fact it was fretless, especially with the chord at the end. C : 2016 VM Squier Jazz. I’m not so attached to this bass and got given it when I sold my Sire. With the Dunlop steels on it does sound super funky. The playability isn’t bad and you can dial in some useable tones. For the recording I was again back pickup biased but with around 90% tone.
  18. I’m hoping it’s a slow burner and I’ll wait until the end of the week to reveal. I didn’t realise it was a bass bash as well yesterday so busy weekend for some on here.
  19. It’s an attachment on the post. Didn’t really know how best to do it tbh, can try and get it on sound loud if it’s easier.
