Whats the longest you've had a bass for?
OliverBlackman replied to OliverBlackman's topic in Bass Guitars
Overwater custom for 34 years... haven't really ever considered parting with it.
Just received an Overwater that I hope will last the same. Shame so many basses mentioned are going unplayed -
So many people chop and change basses on here but I've had my P bass for 11 years now and its just wonderful. How long have yours lasted?

Not sure on his looks as we used the postal service but Ian is an excellent communicator and apart from Royal Mail trying to lose the pedal, I've found it and it's brilliant. Thanks Ian

I have for sale [s]1) Subdecay Prometheus envelope filter - £125[/s] 2) Chunk Systems Brown Dog gated fuzz pedal - £150 [s]Subdecay Prometheus This is one of the most versatile envelope filters I have come across with the step filter offering incredible synth options. These have been praised quite a bit in the 'effects' section on this site and talkbass. Here's the subdecay online manual for more information, http://subdecay.com/manuals/pm1.pdf and the old product page, http://subdecay.com/...resonant-filter[/s] Chunk Systems Brown Dog Bought to give some fuzz to the Subdecay but this pedal is also great as a stand alone. The fact it offers earth shattering fuzz and synth sounds but also combines effortlessly with an envelope filter via a dedicated input makes it a really special fuzz. You can find sound samples here: http://www.chunk.com.au/bd.htm I'm not sure if he still does but when I bought it Paul Turner (Jamiroquai) was using one. I still have the original box. For bassists the great thing is both these pedals have no problem tracking and still retain the low frequencies of the bass. Bought all the pedals I need so straight sale only at the moment please! Can be collected from London or posted.

Yep, having one bass has been great for me. Having said that I've ordered a fretless but that's completely different (is what I tell the girlfriend)

What do these sound like? Are they clean or are they aggressive?
-
What's the story behind them all?

I have a Subdecay Flying Tomato that has stopped working. Does anyone know of anyone in London who fixes pedals?

I messaged Dan for a pedal he had advertised and within a couple of hours it was paid for and shipped recorded delivery. It came well wrapped and works perfectly.

The guys at the gallery did a great job on a fretless thumb bass I had, when the truss rod needed replacing. It was a neck through as well so they had to take the fingerboard off. When I got it back the action was low and it was a much better bass than what I gave them. They also recently dressed the frets on my p bass and the action on that is now a joy. They're not the cheapest and I find their opening times a little restrictive but you always get really good service.
Sort of implied don't you think? The "agreed a day to collect it" ..? :-)
Yep this was how I took it. If he wasn't happy with the offer why would he arrange the collection?
I'd say here is the money, cash, take it or leave it by a certain period. I'd also leave the window open so the guy could come back later... but then he also runs the risk that I might not offer that money forever and I too, might readjust the price. I would prefer him to have said, no thanks, not enough money, rather jerk you around like that.
Exactly, he didn't seem to grasp I was leaving my weekends open for what would have been a 6 hour round trip, only to be let down repeatedly at the last minute

I recently made an offer for a fretless Warwick on gumtree and the guy asked when I'd be able to collect it, and we agreed a day. Anyway he couldn't do it anymore and finally after 3 weeks of him coming up with excuses he's told me he's holding out for a better offer. Is this common? It's the first time I've had it and it's so frustrating!

How much can do you play the sei? If not at all and you would play the others then yes. But i can't see a musicman being anywhere near as nice to play as a sei -
Just got to give a shout out to harvest (guys who make the nice leather bass gig bags). I bought a strap for my dad and when I enquired about stock, I had an email response in 5 minutes in perfect English. It then took only 2 days to arrive after ordering. Of course the quality is exquisite and my dads a happy man! It's the best customer service I've had online, especially as it came from abroad. Well done Harvest and basschatters buy with confidence!

Thanks guys, I think you're right about it being a signal path joint. Its working for now, couldn't see any loose connections but if it goes again at least I should be able to tell someone what to look for.
