I really liked it, standard pop song which feels very relaxing and natural on the ear. I think this fits in with modern times more than their old 90's and naughties stuff. Only thing is with crap like "GayLS" in the charts how can any decent band fit in anymore. Still i liked it and im sure the new album will have lots of different styles to suit everyone. It was interesting that at Hard rock calling 60% of the set was old 90's songs, maybe a sign.

Its a good point about trying them out first, do you know of any good string shops that stock cheaper DB's? in England

Iv decided its time to start learning the double bass so for that i feel i need one. And iv been looking around and iv found i can get something like a second hand stentor or zeller DB for around £400-500. Or i can save up a bit and get a slightly older German DB for between £1000-1200. Is it really going to benefit me as a begginner to go for the German ones? Also are there any cheep DB's i should avoid? Cheers, Ollie

With my bands in the past weve done synchronised busted jumps... try to get the band involevd and tell them if bassists are doing it its definately cool and not just showing off

Back to the title of shortage of bass players. I had never been around more than 2 until i came to ACM and we were all finding it a bit strange to be in a room of 12 or so bassists, compared to the stupid amount of bad guitarists that there are. Maybe more serious musicians do head towards bass and drums

I was really pleasently suprised by this bass. I didnt think the neck was too thin and the build quality seemed a good standard. Also the sound was fantastic for the money. I managed to get a fantastic jazz sound all across the neck which isnt achievable with many high end basses, i liked it much better than the american deluxe i used to own. But........ I too am thinking about a custom classic shuker jazz bass. Dont know why but the reviews give me GAS

This doesnt look like a graphite to me, iv seen these sort of status basses go on ebay for between £100 and £300

This should have a new section really. I would love to hear about other bassists begginings and how things developed.... Good idea

6ths n 7ths all the way for that one. Its often nice to go alternate the 6th, 7th and 5th.... typical guitar thing in blues

Its interesting to read everyones opinions as always. So heres mine... 1) I saw stevie wonder on saturday and the sound was amazing compared to what was shown at glastonbury on sunday. And im positive that it sounded crap just because of bbc's coverage, you dont get half the frequencies and clarity as you do in person. The difference is amazing and you would think in a modern day bbc would do better. 2) Swapping basses for different songs. Why? you get basses with a million knobs these days and its pretty much so you dont need to swap. For rock songs its all the same anyway, fender jazz, p bass or stingray style thing and its perfect. I did a few sets last week and just used my stingray the whole way through just giving it slight adjustment when needed. And isnt Muse mostly fuzz based anyway? a nice passive bass and your sorted! Just showboating his money me thinks (N)

it was definately a tv thing. I saw it at hyde park, exact same set. Bass cut through like a dream and everything was perfect!

just seen stevie wonder and jamiroquai and paul turners new alleva copollo was excellent and he didnt even touch the 66 jazz bass he had out but his technique for me was no match for the amount of groove that came out of nate watts. True hes been playing the same thing for 40 years but there were so many great licks i wish to steal! So basically i have a bass crush on nate watts and just wanted to share it with you all. I hope plenty of BCers went to the gig

i straight away thought of my warwick. Then i realised if its an island so small there is little life there, then the warwick might sink the island!!!!!

i played a 67 p bass at wunjo's but it went pretty fast. This bass was so good i hope they made many of them.... Or they put all their efforts into makin a small number sound and feel the best they could, consistently. I would be happy with either of them being true.
