1. Still love the basses Bill, haven't seen them for a few years now!
2. Bump, my apologies with not having weighed it yet, I need to find a pair of scales.
3. Heard of these Fingerbone basses before but never actually seen one. Got any pics?
4.
I'd also see if you can try an Enfield bass with a carbon fibre neck as these are made by Simon Farmer of Gus using his carbon fibre over light-weight tone wood construction, and IMO combine the structural advantages of carbon fibre with the more traditional tonal qualities of wood.
I absolutely love these basses. I fell in love with them the moment I saw them. Never seen one for sale second hand though, sadly.
5. Oh rly? I always thought it was a Status. Far too crisp and clean sounding compared to the rest of his Jaydee sounds. Having had various Status basses over the years and played plenty of Jaydees, I've never found them to sound similar at all and would have put a months wages on that being a Status. Probably best I avoided the bookmakers then!
6. Even the price of a new neck from Wal will likely be less than you're losing from the value of the bass by selling it on the cheap here. Well, about the same probably as they'll be expensive. But then you get to keep a great bass.
7.
I'm on about her playing ability.
So am I...she's nothing special.
8.
Sorry Chris, but that's absolute sexist bollocks. She's obviously a great player. You should be ashamed of your comment.
We can't all like the same players Pete, and I still contend that she wouldn't attract half as much attention if she was a mediocre male player than a mediocre female player. Sorry if that upsets you Pete, no offence intended.
9. To hear the sound of my Status Series II: without the big reverb sound, of course...
10. Video confirms that Tal got where she is by using Vinnie. Derivative and bland like everything she does. There are far better players out there, but they don't need to rely on the gimmick of being a woman.
11.
I would donate it to Pakistan, which is a very needy country.....
If you feel that way, I'd rather see it donated to the treasury. We need the cash more than Pakistan does.
12. I meant to click '2' and I clicked '1'. Both sounding great, and the song is great too.
13.
I'm glad Bakithi Kumalo never listened to Jeff. Or Les Claypool for that matter...
Baktihi has always been my favourite fretless player. What a talent.
14. Put them in a studio though and it will soon become clear that one is an el-crappo P bass and the other is a Wal.
15. Wait? Jeff Berlin isn't a huge fan of fretless basses? Whatever next, someone telling me bears sh*t in the woods?
16. When I was about 15 I heard Stuart Hamm playing a Kubicki and from that moment, bright, modern tones were it for me. Getting into Geddy Lee's Wal sound also affirmed by love of a good honky midrange sound. I don't think I've ever left that, to be honest. But I like to hear my basses naturally, without layering effects or fiddling with EQ's. As such, I choose instruments based on their incredible tone and just make do!
17. Over the years I've had a fewbasses I've been really attached to and ended up selling them in the end, usually on the provision that if I really looked hard enough I could probably find another one. If a new bass inspires you, thats great. Nothing wrong with keeping your old gear either. I'd rather a bass be used and enjoyed rather than just sitting in a case. Mind you, I'm struggling to give all my basses the play time they deserve lately. I can never decide whether to go for the Status, the Kubicki or the ACG...
18. You hear of people trying to source old strings like Superwounds. I wonder if they actually use any when they get hold of them? I remember someone a couple of years ago selling loads of packs of Trace Elliot strings, which were apparently made years and years ago by Status Graphite and rebranded by Trace Elliot!
19.
How much does this bass weigh? Cheers
Not a great deal. I'll stick it on some scales when I get a chance and see.
20. Yeah, they're small frets but I've never noticed any wear on the two CV Jazz basses I've had (mind you, one was new and the other nearly new). I wouldn't let it bother you.
21. Playing for 9 years now. No real highs or lows, but I feel like I am really getting back into playing after a couple of years where I've been a bit lazy and haven't played as much as normal.
