1. This is even better value now! A great chance to own a bass made by Britain's best luthier!
2. Yes, this has been a factor for me. Particularly with Stuart Hamm, I was so into Stuart Hamm when I was 16 and I bought my first Ex Factor bass. Mainly I wanted to stand in front of the mirror gazing at the bass pretending I was Stuart Hamm, but I also had a feeling that the bass would just fit me like a glove when I got hold of it! And lo and behold, it did. It was fantastic. I currently have a red one like the one from the back of the Kings of Sleep album: Another thing I had always wanted was Geddy Lee's Wal sound. I wasn't prepared to spend Wal money though, but I was very happy to discover ACG basses. One purchase of a Harlot Singlecut later and I could recreate an authentic Wal sound with ease, as well as a hell of a lot more. What a wonderful bass.
3. Looks like a great jazz bass, and I love the colour contrasting with the maple fretboard. It also looks like a very high quality paint and finish job too!
4. I rang Jon when he had this bass, I was all ready to buy it until I discovered it was a bolt on mahogany neck! Absolutely beautiful though, and it's a bass I still think about!
5.
What's the preamp like on this?
Now, there is a questiont that you could spend all day answering...! In short, bloody brilliant - as good as it gets.
6.
I find it kind of odd that you pose a question in a for sale thread which, intentionally or not, may put people off buying the bass (and all from a position of ignorance - unless you've owned a no-radius ACG and played it for a few days you frankly haven't a clue what you're talking about) and then wish the seller "good luck for the sale". I mean, really - What were you thinking?
Despite any thinly veiled digs, these absses sell themselves. Quite simply, my ACG Harlot singlecut is the best bass I've ever played. Countless scores of basses costing loads more are relegated to the "good, but not as good as my ACG" category. Could I find something else that looks as good? Probably not. Could I find something else that sounds as good? No. Could I find something else that plays as well? probably not. Could I find something else as well built? Not without paying considerably more than an ACG costs.
7. I mix it. Flat on my ACG, curved on my Jazz bass and Kubicki. I probably feel most 'at home' on the ACG now.
8.
Why the **** would people play deliberately on a no radius board? Good luck for the sale, nice 6 stringers those days and i'm desperate to find one that fits my needs
As an owner of an ACG Harlot singlecut I can confirm the flat board coupled with the asymmetrical neck in perhaps the best combination I've ever tried. It is the ultimate neck.
9. You don't see many of these around!
10. This one seems to have been passed around quite a bit recently!
11. I used to have one of those Zebrano Spectors, I really loved that bass. I sold it in the end, but ho-hum!
12. Start a Return to Forever covers band and come back and play these guys under the table.
13. Holy crap, these videos are awesome. I absolutely love the Odd Time Signatures video, the chordal version of "Aga of the Ladies" he has done is incredible, I love how he had deepened the tune from the original recording. Jonas is one of my favourite bassists, probably top three alongside Stuart Hamm and Geddy Lee. I've spent so much tracking down his CDs, he is just incredible. What a legend. I did prefer his tone when he was playing Status Graphite basses alongside Shawn Lane though. Still, his Warwick stuff sounds amazing.
14. Omar is a great player but for me he never really was top of the fusion drawer.
15. You'd be better off saying another £100 or so and buying the ACG Graft bass that is up on the boards here, they are awesome.
16. He's retired and I've found a new meme I like more! As it happens I've had the Kubicki out this week playing along to a few old 80's pop records. It gives the ultimate 80's sound; I remember one video of youtube of a guy playing Heathrow by Level 42 on his Kubicki and it just sounded incredible. Yum yum.
17. I really liked the solo version of "message in a bottle" played by the bloke with a Wal...awesome!
18. They're cool basses, although I've generally found the original Tobias models to be much better than the Gibson made models. At one point, Tobias were considered to be absolutely top drawer basses, held in regard alongside Fodera, Alembic et al. Even with MTD, I don't think Michael Tobias will ever get that back sadly.
19. An early 1993 model, is that a Fender model with the 9V preamp? And who fitted the scratchplate? IIRC Kubicki never offered them, which is why Stu Hamm had to go elsewhere to get one fitted to his Kubicki.
20. I love some of the Yellowjackets early stuff, the first half of Claire's Song strikes me as a great piece, but sadly there was a lot of fuzak in those early records too, and the later I didn't find very compelling at all. Which is a shame, as they are excellent musicians.
21. They make awesome amps, the Carvin Legacy stuff is as good as guitar amplification gets.
22. I'm not sure what it's worth, and Carvin always seem to suffer with resale values, perhaps due to the nature of their company. However, I've always been a Bunny Brunel fan, give me a shout if you get it and fancy selling it, I've been after a fretless recently.
