1. Just a battle scar that shouldn't be too hard to sort out!
2. One of my mates is a massive Morrissey/Smiths fan, so I've had plenty of time to play their songs with him. I was the one who persuaded him to get a guitar so the least I can do is play along while he gives it the big licks on his stratocaster. Like I say, I've never really loved the tunes but I'm always reminded when I play them with him why I love playing music!
3. I don't really like the Smiths, but there is some awesome rhythm section work in their songs!
4. I think Bass Direct might have one at the moment? It never seemed like many made it to these shores, and those that did have been keepers! They're not particularly rare used in the US, but they're fairly uncommon here. Well, the original ones of course, there are a few more Gibson era ones knocking around.
5. Always thought these were spoiled in a big way by the chrome hardware. If it were black hardware they'd look fantastic.
6. He's a great player, he did a great job on those Wham tunes.
7. Probably because they're not really any better than other Alembics of similar spec!
8. Every time I see that video I wonder where the rest of his recorded output is!
9. Is there a UK dealer for Alembic? I've always got my eye out for one as I fancy a Series I or II or maybe a Mark King...
10. I love Alembic basses, the one I had was excellent. I've always loved the signature and series models best. Were I prepared to spend that much money on a bass I'd quite happily have a Series II or a Mark King model.
11.
You'd have to be a loon to swap your Modulus for that! I really, really wouldn't do it. 70's Jazzes come along all the time.
And they're not even that good!
12. I remember CrazyKiwi did a good version of it on his Alembic, sounded about right. It's a tricky one to get because you need to be pushing it on top of the beat, but I've heard covers that go too far and sound cold and mechanical. Not one I'd want to try singing along with either!
13.
The guy wants to swap for my Modulus..i spoke to the guy today, and he put me off really..he told me its worth 2 grand and is a very special bass as its all custom ordered...i didnt buy it... did wonder why he wanted to swap a 2 grand bass for a Modulus that is not worth 2 grand...
What a mug, he's trying to do you there.
14.
I think this is more his bag...
My eyes...
15. Have Status started making the Buzzard 1 again?
16. Now endorsed by the world's best fretless bass player. I have to admit, it sounds better than it looks.
17. Meanwhile, back in the 1980's.... Love these basses, they've got a definite "Big Country" vibe!
18. Very subtle, congratulations!
19. Buy a double bass! In all seriousness, I'd be looking at Pyramid flats and some right hand near the neck action. I'm not sure mutes are needed in the grand scheme of things.
20. Do they still make the Highway 1 series? It'll just be Christmas demand, I suspect. More people than usual wanting to treat themselves!
21. Good effort, as that is a rock hard tune! Getting the bassline right on top of the beat like Mark has it is tough, especially with all the little flourishes he does! I'd love to hear it with a clean bass tone as the Bongo sound is a little "watery" sounding there!
