I generally don't like it so low that it's flapping and creating buzz. A little bit of tension can be nice to help you get those finger funk lines grooving! Like here we have a video of a lovely Status S2 classic and it just sounds like a load of crap because the strings are buzzing and clacking off the frets. If the action were raised a tiny bit it would sound so much better!

Still, the amount of feverish interest over a 70's jazz is confusing, as I've never really been blown away by these examples and many people complained about them at the time! Still, I don't see what the fuss is over the 60's ones either so YMMV...

I've loved them since I first saw Wooten with them! I'm not such a fan of the other coloured Ying Yangs (like maple with purpleheart, looks naff!). The original ones with the holly and ebony for the piano-key looks are fantastic.

I hate that awful "heavy breathing" sound Diana has. She's utter crap, copying songs that sucked the first time around. A recipe for disaster!

With Markbass I've always thought they managed to make good looking gear that sounds fairly good, but the prices always seemed a little excessive for me, where sometimes it wasn't a huge step up to being able to afford some really top line stuff!

I've just never [i]got[/i] YES. I'm not a huge fan of prog rock though, but YES have always struck me as a bit naff. I guess you had to be there, because looking back on those records I struggle to find anything to like!

As always, that Alembic looks amazing.

Remember around the early years of this millenium when Warwicks were huge? Adverts in every magazine and everyone wanted them, everyone who had them raved incessantly about them! And I don't just think it was nu metal doing that!

It's nice to have a slice of 80's technology sitting around. The Kubicki is just so awesome, nothing else sounds like it and I think I'd miss that sound! Truely beautiful! I think it was Fodera who I first saw using Holly, on some Monarch and Contrabass guitars. It does have that incredible effect, and is a brilliant looking wood in the right context! Looks like a stunner from Overwater!

I have always loved that body shape, it is excellent. I always find these ones strange to look at though, without the typical ornate wooden tops typical of Ken Smith basses! I particularly like the Burner basses with the wood tops, these are a real find! They seem to be more scarce than even the top line KS stuff!

You could buy a used fretted Alembic Epic for the price of a new jazz bass, which just goes to show how much you can get for your money if you spend it wisely and buy used!

You should really have more photos of that C6!
