  1. It's not the same for me (the pickups are probably my least favourite part, if they're the Super Quads, I'd prefer EMG). I mean, just look at the elegance of this, for example. Stunning...
  2. I bought my Bogart Blackstone from the Gallery (also a graphite necked bass, as it happens). They had the listing on the website for months afterwards showing as 'sold' but it still stayed in the searchable listings. I would regularly browse their website at work to see the images of my bass that had been sat in my living room for the last year! They had said a long time ago that they wer looking into a means to catalogue and display their sold basses rather than just leaving them on the main gallery page, it seems nothing ever came of that. 3. It may be of interest to some to learn that Martin Sims announced via Facebook this morning that once the order book for Enfield basses is complete, production will cease. Martin notes in his post that he has been splitting his time between his home and business workshops and has decided to simply things and concentrate on his LED work and Super Quad pickup production. To this end, it looks as though Enfield basses and the paint side of things will be mothballed. Whilst I do not begrudge a man taking the best route for an easy and manageable work schedule, I am slightly disappointed to see a really nice range of basses going out of production. I expect that I will still own one at some point, albeit as a used buy!
  4. What was Camden like before the streets were littered with oafs taking pictures of themselves for Instagram?
  5. When the pickup is by the bridge, I can make do...!
  6. Those Seis are really smart. Gorgeous wood selection and craftsmanship.
  7. That is absolutely fantastic.
  8. I love small-bodied basses. I wouldn't say that I have actively sought them out over the years but I have always enjoyed them when I've had them. The body shape that will always hold an appeal to me is the Spector NS shape. Not only is it relatively small anyway, the curved shape makes it feel even more compact and ergonomic. I cannot say for certain, but I believe that Steinberger must have given consideration to designing body shapes where there is not much 'ground' to cover for the right hand between the edge of the instrument and the strings. Some other notably small-bodied and comfortable basses I've owned include the Kubicki Ex Factor and the Pedulla Buzz shape. The Factor body is a design masterpiece so far as I am concerned. Even now, forty years later, it is nearly unparalleled from an ergonomic and packaging standpoint. The Buzz also has a very small body compared to what you might think when you look at photos of the bass. Whenever I get my Pentabuzz out of the case I'm taken aback a little by how small it really is. They're not necessarily light basses but they are small and compact and a joy to play.
  9. Yep, more of this to come now, I should expect.
  10. I really thought it had died out years ago. I do remember it as being a redoubt of scorned former BC members.
  11. I'm not sure about that, I know he certainly used it live for a while in the early 90's. I wasn't aware that he still owned it.
  12. Beautiful instruments. Alain Caron even played a fretless six for a brief while.
  13. It has always been the case that if you're not developing it, your enemy is. I'm glad that the money is being properly invested rather than just squandered.
  14. That Tobias shape is one of the all time classics. Such an elegant design.
  15. You are an absolute dude. Enjoy it!
  16. @leitnerjoe do you still have your Status Hellborg bass?
  17. Wow! What a stunner.
  18. Ugly name, ugly colour, ugly bass. I guess you'd have to be a real clown to buy one.
  19. That's actually an improvement on that awful Lenny Kravitz tune.
  20. Fellow Pentabuzz owner here, fretless basses just don't get better.
  21. He is a great player. I used to love seeing him in all the Pedulla promotional videos.
  22. Yeah, most of those roles are civilian roles now, I was just trying to pick a couple of the top of my head that were driving a desk. There are still loads of opportunities to sit on an office and never go out though I don't think many sign up for that sort of thing and I'm always puzzled to see young-in-service cops taking up those jobs. Regarding safeguarding, I would never say it isn't valuable work. It is absolutely essential. It's part of everyone's job. But given that most of the work there is multi-agency or reviewing reports from other departments, I just wouldn't find it exciting. Most DC's I know there did their crime skills wanting to be a murder or major enquiry detective and ended up there on the promotion trail. A mate of mine (who hasn't done his crime skills either) moved there from neighbourhood to suit his home situation after his wife became unwell. He's happy with his lot because he hated beat work, it wouldn't work for me. I would still say that the OP's drummer would not end up in that sort of role for at least a few years unless she is desperate to work office hours. The frontline is a real laugh so I hope she enjoys herself.
