1. I recently bought this Urge bass from Frank (known round here as a Sharkfinger).

It's the Standard model of the Urge bass, made in Mexico. Same as the American Urge but with a poplar body, rosewood fingerboard and no precision pickup.

Basically what we have here is a lovely 32" scale active jazz bass with 24 frets then. It's in very good condition for its age, with just a small scratch, a little ding and some mild bucklerash. It's certainly nothing serious, just in the clearcoat, and I've highlighted the scratch with a photograph of it for your purposes. It's all in working order, and sounds fantastic. The 32" scale is very comfortable (something I liked about my Kubicki, I'm a bit of a Stu Hamm fan so it's nice to have a signature bass of his!) and the body is quite small, so it takes well to being worn high. It's also very light (7.2lbs), the lightest bass I have owned apart from my Hohner (which is also for sale here). I'll probably regret this sale later, as I do love the sound of jazz basses, but I guess I have to do this!

As I say, I only received it a little while ago, though my parents decided today to tell me it was about time I started paying board. Hence I'm having to sell this one, as with board and the costs of Uni, things are just looking a bit bleak for me! I paid £350 for it delivered, I'd like that, but feel free to make me an offer if you wish. This advert is, after all, an invitation to treat. I still have the packaging materials, so I can ship it out as soon as.

    Here are some photos:

I've done business round here with a few guys recently, just ask if you need references. I can also PM you my mobile number if you want to chat about the basses.

    Thanks for looking!

    Chris

  2.
Always liked Thumbs, especially the original JD model. I find them really uncomfortable to play though, I think it's the top strap button position, seems to push the bass to the left making the first 3 - 4 frets a real stretch. Still, at £800 you won't buy better.
Regardless of what you think of Warwick and Thumbs, it should be said that this bass is a little bit of history, and compared to the used prices of "lesser" NT and BO thumbs, this one is by all means a bargain.

  3.
Interesting Bass. always liked them since Stu Hamm first played one. Unfortunately I'm a 5 string guy.
Although it should perhaps be noted that Stu played the Ex-Factor basses that tuned from the bridge and had the 36 piece neck. I still miss my old Ex-Factor on the occasion. These Key Factors are indeed cracking basses.

  4.
Tis a shame I just brought a Marshall VBA400, I would have been very interested in this.
'tis a shame but I'm sure it will go to a good home regardless!

There are a couple of guys interested, funnily enough it might still end up in Wales or it might even go overseas if one of these guys decides to buy it! Best place for it I suppose, away from me where it can tempt me to keep hold of it! :)

  5. The string spacing at the nut is, according to Status specifications, 45.0mm (1.77"). At the bridge it is 18.0mm (0.71"). It's a very easy bass to play, with what is probably my favourite six string neck. When I can afford to go abck to Status, I definitely will...I'm a big lover of graphite in basses! I jumped straight to this with no problems having come from playing 4 string exclusively and it was an easy enough jump to make. However, I'm hopeless on guitars, now thats what I call tight spacing!

  6. It is with a heavy heart that I do this, as I really want to keep hold of this bass (I still might, as I do love it), but with the recent acquisition of a Spector, I really should let this go to keep my bank balance looking healthy. Ideally I'd like to keep hold of both basses, but I think I have to think with my head and not my heart here!

I recently acquired this bass through this forum, and it's never been gigged since I got it. Condition is 9/10, if not 9.5/10. There is also a slight groove on the pickups over the B string, but apart from that, the previous owner really babied this one, it seems! He told me of two tiny scratches but I've since forgotten where they are supposed to be, and I do apologise for that. It's a Stealth I model, made in 1997. It's famously a completely graphite, monocoque design bass, I say "neck through" though in essence the neck is part of the body. It also has the "bright switch" feature, which is very neat. The bass is light, plays beautifully and sounds brilliant. Think the tone Hellborg got from his Status basses and you're pretty much there!

I'd like £800 for it, plus whatever it costs to ship, and I will ship it in a Warwick Snakeskin hardcase.

The Bass Gallery in London have this similar model for sale for £999, though mine is black. Because of this, I think I'm offering a pretty good deal for this gorgeous bass. I'll be sad to see it go if it does sell, but then thats for the best.

    Thanks for looking guys!

  7. Ah, my old Kubicki!
Here is a shot of me with it from a while ago:

It was hard for me to trade, I really loved it, but I got a brilliant bass in return:

The aforementioned Status Stealth 6 string!

    :)
