1. I will wait and see how this matter is resolved before checking out this iBass thing.
2. I suspect he could be hit fairly hard by the massive medical bills you get in the US. Especially given that it sounds as though he is needing help day in, day out. CHuck has played on plenty of records, but I suspect that he doesn't make massive royalities from his parts as a sideman. Hopefully he will be better soon.
3. I do like to make use of a synth now and then. It has a proper synth though, none of those 'modelling' pedals you can get for your bass guitar. They just never sound great. I had a Roland SH-201 analogue modelling synth, which was a great item. I could sit around with that and mess on with sounds for hours. When I'm in the studio the keys player in our group usually brings his Moog Voyager and a Roland Fantom. Those two items are serious pieces of kit which I love to fiddle on with. At home he has a rare Oberheim Xpander, which is one of my all time favourite synths. Vince Clarke was the master of this one back in the 80's, and it consistently sounds fantastic.
4. I've sene the photos for this (just had them sent to my phone). It looks very good indeed. One I will be watching closely.
5. What a beauty. I have always loved these Spectors. With the EMG pickups, they do a very good Victor Wooten impression too!
6. This looks like a pretty cool take on the super jazz.
7. I can tell you, were I planning on spending near £3000 on a bass I'd have this! But that money might get me a nice German touring car...
8. Yes, a good bass but not fit to hold a candle to a Streamer. IMO...
9. I've had a few days off playing and I have a new set of strings to fit it up with soon, so I am quite looking forward to getting back to playing it. Makes me appreciate the ACG even more. I can get the ACG out to fiddle with and find a multitude of great tones, I can plug the Warwick in and have two great tones! (Bridge pickup soloed, most of the time!)
10. Modulus Quantum. The FU feels like a hi-tech Stingray. Better neck, better tone, better looking. But the Quantum feels truely special, and it is easy to see why it is Modulus' flagship bass.
11. There are few times I feel like I fall in love with an instrument at first sight, but this is one of them. Just need to think of a good reason not to buy it!
12. I don't think it's concerns over shipping that is putting anyone off, shipping things like this in Europe has come in leaps and bounds in the past few years. Rather, the money (across the whole of Europe) is very tight and as a result expensive basses take a while to shift.
13. Markus, I thought you had recently sold a Streamer Stage II here? Are you after another?
14. Fodera...Fender can't even hope to compete.
15.
Probably the most pointless lesson ever.
If you had seen the Expert Village lessons on slap you wouldn't be saying that!
16. Mike Pope is sounding seriously cool there.
17. I don't think either player has done anything worth listening to for years.
18. I'm surprised he didn't strangle that slimy little toad of a salesman.
19.
Sounds interesting. A lot of the DM stuff is written on guitar then reworked into synth parts. Sounds like you're sort of going for somewhere in between their demo and studio versions.
Yeah, it's quite cool. Luckily Andy, the lad who is doing the synths and stuff is pretty handy so we've managed to get a few things cobbled together. And the Warwick sounds great for it, which is useful because I'm frequently jumping all over the board to get the best note for the part.
20. Congrats on getting your kit back! As a fellow 1990 Streamer owner (mine is a limited edition model from that year) I can confirm that was a very good year for these superb basses!
21.
Why Depeche Mode? You in a Depeche Mode cover band?
Not a cover band, though we are planning on doing a few Depeche Mode covers. I'm singing Gahan's parts and the usual singer is singing Gore's parts and playing synths. I'm covering various synth parts and melodies with my bass. It's quite a cool way of doing things. We don't have enough synths or triggers to play everything like it was (nor do we have access to Depeche Mode's massive bank of sounds and samples) but we're piecing things together. Can't do much today until I've got my Streamer restrung though. The best part is, there is nothing for the drummer to do! He can keep his 'sloppy' human time and we'll rely on the perfection of drum machines!
