1. The top on that one looks like creased silk! Very different!
2.
spector IS NOT GOOD for metal music!!! and active emg pickups ARE NOT GOOD for other style than Victor Wooten double thumb, as a sound engineer I have to say it - they sound like sh*t when I have to put distorted bass in the mix...
Where are you getting this crap from? Spector basses have long been hugely popular in metal. If Alex Webster plays them and Modulus basses it must surely speak for the quality of Spector. I'd go for the Spector basses. The other two are good, but not in the same league as the Spector in every respect. The Euro basses are some of the best 'production' basses around.
3. I used to get that interference when I had my Trace Elliot amp. Since getting my Ashdown MK500 it's not happened since. And I've played live with my iphone in my pocket!
4.
I spent 3 years out there in the early 90s. No doubt its different now.
Yes, I'm sure it is a different world there now! This sounds like a fantastic opportunity. It should be fun, as long as you remember that you're going to a country with a culture and system of moral values far different from our own. And if you do get in trouble, for whatever reason, don't expect an easy ride there. Their courts have teeth, unlike ours. Go and see the world!
5. It just sounds like there is a lack of passion altogether. Would firing the guitarist or giving him one last chance work? Is he easily replaced? If you meet another obstacle three months down the line, will your heart be in it to overcome it and keep going with the band?
6. Jesus Christ... wantwantwantwantwant... must find something to trade...
7. Yes, its a stunner. I was tempted myself...
8. Ah, Warwickhunt had a fairly similar looking one a couple of months ago, IIRC he sold it. No doubt a stunning bass. This is giving me serious Zon GAS. Not what I need when I'm on the tail of a Cosworth...
9.
I sold the same bass, different color a few months ago for 1200 euros. So a trade against a Fodera might be a bit ambitious...
I think there was another one on here for £1000, sat around for ages. In fact, it might still be here.
10. East and Bartolini preamps are some of my absolute favourites...they will not fail to impress!
11. I don't think Fender would ever offer the Urge bass pickup combination on any 'mainstream' product of theirs. Okay, the Urge sounds nothing like a traditional P or J bass, but if they offered that pickup combo on a Mexican made bass they'd cut their sales in half! Thats one of the likely reasons the Urge Standard (MIM) only had two singlecoil pickups.
12. Michael Manring's tone is quite simply incredible. Which it needs to be, to match his superb playing.
13. Which part of the country are you based in, Retroman? And did Warwickhunt once own this one?
14. That is a fantastic price for this bass! Ken's work is definitely most popular in the US, but he is definitely one of the best and still something of a hidden secret in Europe, despite having made amazing basses for over 20 years. Quite simply, this must be one of the finest basses ever sold on this site. The quality of the woodworking looks stunning. He also made a nice guitar for James Hetfield. http://filepit.freewebs.com/montyjay/jamesguitars/KLEXP/jamesklexpbw.jpg
15. How this hasn't sold yet, I'll never know. I am quite sure it's a stunning instrument.
16. I take it they're fairly easy to turn? They look as though you need to use a screwdriver to turn them round!
17. Thats never an Epiphone! With that wildly slanted pickup! Far too much for conservative Gibson!
18. Yes, I used to have a Hohner Jack headless bass. Nothing special, but not dire either. The Spirit range of Steinbergers are piss poor though, I'd avoid those at all costs.
19. They have an amazing growling tone, when played right. Geddy Lee got a fantastic sound from his. There is nothing else quite like them. We are poorer for the fact they are no longer made.
20. Very nice! Someone obviously loves padauk!
