I'd always take a decent Eden cab over Ampeg every single day of the week..and that is one of Eden top cabs, IIRC.. but you'd need to hear it with the amp...IMO. Some brands match up better than others and the Eden does have its sound. Way better cab, IMV, but better matchup,,,not sure..!!!
Do you mean the mid punch of the Eden? I'm thinking that might be just what I need in the band setting! That XLT's just gone, but they do seem to come up form time to time here.

Picked up an Ampeg B5R head the other day which, whilst not the most flexible head in the world, covers the things I need, playing in a heavy r'n'r / doom / garagey kind of band. Super simple to dial in usable tones and the clean/OD channel blend works nicely for me. I'm now looking for a cab to go with it. I'd kind of assumed, being a bit of a traditionalist (or at least someone who played through the 80s and 90s ) that I'd match it up with an Ampeg cab, and was thinking of a 410hlf. But having seen this - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=78537 - I'm wondering what people thought about fixing up this head with the Eden 410XLT? There's a fair bit of g**tar action going on in the band - 2 guitarists - and a cool 60s Vox Continental / Hammond organ too, so it might be useful for me to have a set up that 'cuts through' really well. What do you reckon cab-wise - ampeg or eden? The Eden is a bit more costly than an Ampeg though too. Alternatively, would anything in the lightweight area do the job for me - like the look of the Barefaced Super Twelves, but doubt I could easily pick one up S/H... Cheers Ian
DUDE! was that really necessary!? i like it
Caught the mighty Boris at the Garage a few weeks ago - excellent! But was more their psychrock (veering towards indie) side rather than their superheavy r'n'r / doom side. Anyone into a bit of heaviosity could do a lot worse than check out our New Heavy Sounds club night http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=126056250767804 PS Sorry for the thread hijack / self-promotion!
I used to have one of these and regret selling it. I got mine for just over £200 quid on eBay but in the few years that have passed their value has risen - I should have kept it!
I used to have a fretless version years ago and it was a great bass to play. Have another bump!

Just got a Gator case from Shaun - absolutely top bloke to deal with, arrived superquick, all as described and obviously does just what a Gator case should. Cheers Ian

Thanks guys, will give it a very careful listen at low and high volumes. Checking back, it is actually the BSE410HLF, so fingers crossed it's good to go.

Hello folks Someone's offered me a S/H Ampeg B410HLF cab for the princely sum of £200. Which sounds a bargain obviously. Downside is that the cab hasn't been used for a year and in the words of the seller "could probably do with a service before you gig it". Pictures of it show it in good shape cosmetically. Haven't seen or heard the thing yet but will do next week, so I wondered if anyone could offer any pointers on particular things to look out for, possible problems that the cab might have and maybe even a ballpark of how much related repairs might set me back? All advice gratefully received! Ian
yeah I seen a wicked B5R head and 4x10hlf cab going for 600quid, its a 350watt rig but add another 4 ohme cab and you get a 500watt rig. Im no expert, however seems a good deal to me
Oh yeah I've seen that one I'm just wondering if a Micro VR rig might be an alternative - obviously more portable but my concern is whether it would have the same oomph and air movement of a 4x10hlf?

Folks I'm on the look out for an affordable Ampeg set up - relatively speaking anyway! £500 - £600 mark. There are some very different small Ampeg rigs for sale through BC at the moment and my question is whether it's the done thing to get you guys to give your thoughts on the merits of each set up. Don't want to offend the sellers obviously!! If this is a go-er I can edit this thread with some details of the set ups to invite your thoughts! Cheers everyone Ian

Looking for £140 for the T-Rex and £40 for the Muff. Prices include delivery, would prefer bank transfer or cash on collection. Would like to avoid Paypal if at all possible.
