Holler! This Wednesday (16th) sees the first of our New Heavy Sounds nights of 2011, featuring my band (XM-3a) along with the fantastic noise of Black Moth from Leeds and London's own Lasers From Atlantic. Expect enormo riffs and big volume, and SONGS too. What's not to like Lovely if any of you folks fancy it! Ian PS. Here's all the info on facebook - Let's get our asses to the Macbeth

Well, I finally have my hands on my Decade - thanks ShaunB! Early days, but I'm loving it so far - warm, phat, but still able to cut through pretty well - only played it at one rehearsal so far, so still a fair bit of tweaking to my board to balance things nicely across my various dirt boxes. The neck's a pleasure, a smidge wider of cause than the 1.5" nut width on my Jazz and Sandberg, but not so much that it makes my small hands stretch too much. Mine can switch between single coil/humbucker too, for phat/phatter fun. And what's more, the guys in my band love the look of it too, which is saying something for a bunch reared solely on Gibsons and Fenders!

Just bought a lovely Lakland Skyline Decade through Shaun's revolving door policy for basses! An complete pleasure to deal with again - very patient while I sorted out some not-uncomplicated financial shenanigans on my side to make the deal happen. Once everything fell into place, Shaun couriered the bass superquick and I'm now a very happy Lakland newbie. An absolute gent.

That really is a whole lot of bass for the money. Lovin' the Sandberg hard core aged vibe.
OK, I'm mad. I joked about keeping this for a couple of weeks, but I keep looking at Mick's US JO and would have to flog this to reach the asking... So, if there's a quick sale out there for what I paid for it, £750.00 + shipping, (bought from here) I can have a suitable birthday pressie! If you want Fffat - this is it. Nuff said - read the forums/reviews. Threads and pics: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=117539 http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=112273 Any questions, ask away. cheers, Shaun (mad)
Shaun Almost certainly - PM'd!
Just been looking at these too: http://www.bargeconcepts.com/vbjr.html & http://www.xotic.us/effects/x_blender/ - look interesting. I've also got a guy offering to build an A/B thats works both on/off or A or B unlike my Behringer pedal and then a Y box to put my signal from my effects to mix with my bypass clean bass sound then to the amp, £73 i think is what he said.
It's an old fave, but might be worth looking at the Boss LS-2 pedal, which can do much of this. Often come up in the FX For Sale thread, typically £40-45 secondhand.

Hello I'm about to leave my job after nearly nine years and am in line for quite a nice leaving pressie hopefully - "jammy git" I hear you say, but I've made these guys loads of money over the years so I think it's fair enough! I reckon they're gonna spend say £500 and will no doubt be looking for hints at what I want. Now, truth is that what I really fancy right now is a Lakland Skyline Decade, and they ain't gonna run to that! So, I'm wondering what to go for a bit lower down the scale that will hold it's value best if I look to sell it on and put the punts towards the Decade that I really fancy... What do you guys think? Cheers!
Just sorted my pedalboard out and there isn't quite enough room for this XO size pedal on my board...bit gutted actually as it's completely brand new. Looking for some kind of fuzz/od/dist - I mainly use it with an envelope follower... Ironically Boss size would be OK. Can add cash if anyone has a modded Bad Monkey!
Worth a go?.... +1 to all the Bass Merchant love. They're great at letting you explore and pick things up to play, and offering good advice without ever being too "sell-y". Recommended.
Do you have a specific Fuzz sound in mind ? The Oxide is one immense pedal!!! Well worth the wait/additional import VAT & delivery charges incurred on importing any items over from the US.
Well, I'm no great shakes on matching particular sounds to particular fuzzes, but I'd say that the Prunes&Custard covers the filter-y / slightly synth-y end of things and the Buzzbomb is crazy but really versatile in fact, from the fizzy end of things to the out-and-out face melting. I like it! The Muff does what it says on the tin as everyone knows. Sooo, I guess I'm looking out for something that gives me a good range of tone and blendability. I'm after something that's likely to be on on a low blend throughout tracks - and I think the OD and Fuzz sides of the Battering Ram would give myriad varieties of dirt.
There's one here. looks interesting......... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Lakland-Skyline-Deca...=item2a0d393bad
Cheers! Not sure I need an active for what I do - hardly ever use the active circuit on my Sandberg TBH. Have seen a new passive one for £900 which is a nicer looking sum!
Like the looks, like the pickups. But check the weight. The only one I tried was a collarbone-bender.
8lb 14oz from what I can see. I could live with that I reckon, doesn't sound too bad. Thanks both.
