Bass foam mutes or felt mutes
Bass_Guardian replied to Bass_Guardian's topic in Accessories and Misc
Alex, the BEST foam mutes are these. http://www.bassmute.com/bassmute/bm_mainframe.html But this being the land of thrift and whingers, I'm sure there will be plenty along in a bit to rubbish this bit of kit because to some its expensive. I have bassmutes on my PRSs and they are superb. you have 2 completely adjustable amounts of mute on each string at the flick of a switch - when you are not using them they sit quietly out of the way whilst dissengaged. If I'm using mute I want to know how much I'm using and not have to scratch around looking for bits of foam - but then apparently I have more money than sense according to some......
I was hoping for something a bit...cheaper $84???? A bit much for a bit of foam however adjustable -
As title says. Whats best Foam or felt mutes for a decent price ( eg not $84 )? And where can i get said things? Thanks in advance Alex

I do play for nothing!!! Every Sunday and Saturday Doesnt bother me at all
-
Very, very mixed views here....which to go for...

I dont really see whats wrong with this bass. Jack is fine to me, sturdy as. Light, sure the wood not the best but the harmonics are good. The fingerboard has a suprisingly really nice figuring. Its almost red rosewood Its sounds ok too cant really complain about getting a decent bass for FREE
-
Only bumps is a wee one near bottom strap and a couple along the back of the neck Electronics are all sound as well Also comes with straplocked strap made from planetwaves Im well chuffed with it cant wait to adjust the action and change the strings
-
Right thats me got it its actually not as bad as i thought. only a wee bit of rust and action is pretty bad but amazingly after 5 years lying about in the cold and damp it was still in tune!!!!!!???!?!!! with rusted strings.
Apparently I'm not the only one who thinks these basses are gig-worthy: http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/music/review...nd-the-witch.do
Its the exact same bass!!! Ive only done one trade. With McNach ( Jose the Biologist ) Met at glasgow central then struggled to find a coffee place. I felt a bit nervous with being my age ( might not have been taken seriously ) was a nice easy trade, quite look followed then by watching jose's mad skills unplugged probably playin a line from red hot chillis then done deal
How cool is that! I'm not a huge fan of them myself, but there's some substantial pockets of love for Peavey basses round here - it might be better than you imagine!
Maybe just needs a clean big time. Ill maybe put up photos friday night of it to show the damage. Maybe do a before and after
-
*UPDATE* good news im getting it for FREE no postage needed as collecting this friday night I know its not the best bass in the world but for FREE well chuffed
The rust is probably through the chrome plate so you'll not have a huge amount of joy there I imagine. Something like Brasso perhaps?
Ill see the extent of the damage this Sunday as ive not looked at it in detail and will let everyone know how the deal goes down Is rust usually fairly easy to come off?
I believe I *will* have another one...
How u getting one?
From a gig last Friday and, before you say it, yeah I know.
get thee behind me! -
easy, you need another Sue Ryder
We both know thats not gonna happen anymore Maybe this peavey might do the trick if i can snap it up
-
eh??? sounds like a very good deal. If you tidy it up it can be quite fun.
Aye I'll find out this Sunday what's happening. Hopefully I'll be able to clean up the rust fine any suggestions on a best method??
-
they're good low end basses... if cheap enough, it probably makes more sense than a Sue Ryder
The owner isnt a bass player of any sort and hasnt used it since it was bought. So might be able to get it for about £20 maybe even free if im charming enough but probably £20 or more...
-
I have a chance to get a Peavey Milestone 3 bass in red. It is a bit rusty round some of the screws and that due to the exposure to dampness i assume. Not been played in probably 5 years and needs new strings as theyve rusted. Should i get it? We're talking cheap as chips here folks, also what does everyone think of these basses? Regards Alex
Thank you kind sir. Just on the look out for a friend who's wanting to start playing, but we're no where near you. How much would postage be if that's an option? Thanks Jamie
Not too sure how much postage is. Im sure i have a box lying about spare though. If ur willing to check how much postage is i would be happy to use it. But prefer pickup and if anyone is wanting to try it out im sure we could work something out -
