Sterling by Music Man… Joe Dart model by stealth?
BassApprentice replied to fretmeister's topic in Bass Guitars
Unfortunately I don't have £1,029 to throw at this just now much as I want to. The finance is tempting but I'll just have to to wait until the time is right. https://www.andertons.co.uk/bass-dept/bass-guitars/sterling-by-music-man-sterling-bass-in-natural -

Definitely wouldn't be like EBMM to use really unclear model names.- 93 replies

Sterling by Music Man… Joe Dart model by stealth?
BassApprentice replied to fretmeister's topic in Bass Guitars
It was mentioned in a comment on the YouTube launch video for the latest Joe Dart model. If you thought the full fat Music Man versions sell fast, these will literally (fearlessly) fly out the door. -
It does look very good on the stand...but gold hardware would have been really cool
-
Weird coincidence - After not seeing these anywhere since I last owned one, I wandered past The Music Shop in Inverness yesterday and there's a green SGV for sale. Cool looking thing.

Catswhisker are another one.

The Joe Dart III - New Joe Dart Musicman Signature Bass

Whilst most of us are scoffing at the price for such simplicity....we might be seeing something more wallet friendly in the future -

Say what you like about Joe Dart/Vulfpeck - they've managed to help Musicman shift 46 basses in under 45 minutes. No idea how or why, but hey. -

So that's now a Stingray shaped short scale. 30 sold already....wow. -
As @neepheid says, trying before you buy is always best. Only think I find about Yamaha stock in stores is it's a bit patchy. They'll have loads of the 234/5 then a maybe a 714 and some TRBX. Sometimes hard to see the model you're looking for without checking first.

You'll get an answer soon enough I'm sure - but might be worth posting here too: Over 350 pages of Yamaha BB content.

I understand the sentiment, but if there's demand then people will keep on doing it. Some cool paint designs which I guess separates them from others.

Seeing this thread pop up makes me really miss my old L2000 - definitely one I should have found a reason to hold on to... If anyone has seen it (has distinctive discolouration on bottom of the body from an old guitar stand) let me know

Ha, that's the one! I sold it to a friend - had a few chances to buy it back. No idea where it's ended up now.

Nice! I've had two of these across the years and can't fault either of them. Last one was routed for active EQ but the standard passive tone is solid too. I keep an eye out in case one pops up close to me at a good price.

An odd little bass quest, and opinions needed from BC
BassApprentice replied to TRBboy's topic in Bass Guitars
Depends how you plan on going about the refinish - but I used the Montana Gold spray paint on a bass and was really happy with the finish and how it came out. Yes it wasn't a full professional paint job but with a tiny bit more effort in sanding and coats you can get a great finish and the cans of paint are really affordable at about £7 a can. Huge range of colours too.- 44 replies

Not played a full-fat one, but have tried the Metro-Express ones and pretty underwhelming. I do struggle with Jazz basses overall but this felt pretty lifeless and sterile. Of course others will love it and I'm sure the more premium/expensive in the range will have more going on.

Anyone in need of a wee project? Good price for the bones of something
-
I can't deny I am tempted by the 5 string black sparkle number! RRP will be the deciding factor here

The Stingray-a-like is so close....but yeah they just got caught a bit short there. Maybe it won't look as bad in real life? 😅

Andertons customer service - kudos
BassApprentice replied to franzbassist's topic in General Discussion
I'd tend to agree. If buying from a smaller business (guitar or otherwise) where you might be buying from their open stock then you would hope QC issues would be checked. Buying from warehouse stock you then rely on the manufacturer vs the retailer to do the QC checks. We are absolutely spoilt by the choice and ease of buying we have - but it is always good to get good customer service if things go a bit sideways. Biggest thing is communication, which Andertons seem to have done well this week - next week could be different 😅 -
Oooft that looks really good, again, for the price. Just a nice combo of design and finish vs other options in the market. Hope it's not a case of this being a small batch being sold at a discount whilst I work out what to sell to get one in the house 😅

I've played the Reverend range a fair few times in Merchant City Music. I reckon if I was in a band I would easily have one as they rock solid and super easy to play and use. I'll stick with my more budget instruments for now, but if the opportunity comes to spend that £800ish on bass they'll be first in line!
