P basses are generally the single middle pickups. Most straightforward basses around! P J basses have a split middle pickup and single pickup closer to the bridge. Gives you bit more versatility and a few more tonal options, still easy enough to handle though! Something like this one would be a great place to start! https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_pj_74ow_vintage.htm

Dipping your toe in the world of guitar/bass is so accessible these days. Harley Benton are the best bang for your buck, and they have a bass in nearly all shapes and tastes.

I get that speaking to someone or actually buying a product will end up at the same point - but that's a crap excuse. I worked in a jeweller and we had price changes all the time that we had to get through to avoid these very situation happening. Or customers complaining the advertised price is different from sale price etc. It's part of the job to maintain and monitor your stock, saying you don't have time isn't good service.

Really odd business practice.... Wonder how they would counter this if asked?

From working in retail recently with a web presence, it sounds like a left hand not talking to right hand situation. Price change online - not correctly relayed to store or Price changed online - someone in store should have changed tag and didn't. When they went to put it through the till the online price probably would have popped up on the till. As other have said, if you flagged this then they would sort it. If you bought it then checked online think you would be due a refund of the difference. EDIT: Just checked PMT - could it have accidentally been priced as a BBP34?

@AJ567Yes it seems so, did a quick search after my post and they don't seem to exist. Weird that there's not an AliExpress equivalent yet either!

No harm in a new set of strings. I doubt they are a mix of flats and rounds. Do they feel different or roughly the same? With a new set at least you know what you are working with and you can keep the older strings for spares!
-
A Hohner Jack could be had for roughly that depending on condition/seller.

I kind of understand the question and the want. I think the answer is in your original post. Buy a Sub or a Sterling, change the decal and find a proper USA style bridge. Jobs a good 'un. Next option would be to go to AliExpress and find one but there's is absolutely no guarantee on quality going that route.

A metal(aluminium?) neck Sandberg. Their custom shop seems to be doing a lot of cool work these days. Wonder what that would set you back!

Japan seems to have a glut of basically whatever you want. Cameras, watches, basses. All there 😅

Might be worth a quick look in this thread - Sandberg have a pretty solid reputation: https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/324680-sandberg-appreciation-society/#comment-3521495

SIRE V7 1st gen(i think) preamp 18v battery sink issue
BassApprentice replied to izzyhigs's topic in Bass Guitars
If you're not a man who likes to solder and tinker - then take it to a tech and see if they can find a fault. Another option could be this : https://retrovibe.co.uk/product/sire-heritage-3-bass-eq-pre-amp-3-band/ and get the whole preamp replaced -
I saw that last night. I genuinely don't play enough to justify the 3 basses I currently have - but that is a very good price. Happy to collect if someone else wants it though!

On the note of Carey Nordstrand - just saw on Instagram that the Acinonyx 5 string is in development. Cool to see the range expanding -

Well it's showing as out of stock.... But who knows what that really means on Bass Direct. Could still be being made or could never have existed at all! -
Bit of an odd one - on these types of things you normally get next to no photos, here you get a fair few! So anyone bidding doesn't have much excuse for not knowing what they are getting here!
-
Cool, but odd at the same time - seem to be based out of Philippines/Malaysia with very little online presence. Probably our of a factory that makes basses for many other brands and have decided to take those designs for themselves. The mustang does look cool as a base for changing bits, don't like the Stingray style bridge on it.

Yet another example of "What Yamaha Can Do vs What Yamaha Give Us" I know this could be said of most brands - but I feel the BB range has such potential for different finishes or pickup arrangements. Maybe one day something like the above will make it to market.

Always cool to see progress and new ideas being executed to this level. Not for everyone, as stated above, but to have the option for something new and unique - it's pretty cool. Apparently they can print almost any image for the "top wood" section.

As with everything - depends on budget. I'm sure Sandberg would do you a 5 string short scale Lionel if the price was right.
