  1. Anything from the Merry Axemas albums. Bit of a nostalgia when I was discovering bass and liked a bit of slap and shred guitars.
  2. This has been stuck in my head for the past 3 days. Would absolutely love to be in a band like this.
  3. Big bass or small person? 😅 If it is as big as the pictures show, I'm sure that will sound massive!
  4. Ashdown put the Capri on the hot wash and shrunk it a bit. 23" scale now https://ashdownmusic.com/collections/basses-22/products/roasted-capri-23
  5. Seems it is the same company https://www.bladeguitars.com/blade-history/blade-history
  6. The pursuit for lightweight basses I presume. It could just be here - but you'll notice one of the first questions asked on a sale advert is "What's the weight?". Headless basses by nature, tend to be lighter. Even websites like Sweetwater show the weight of nearly every bass they have in stock so the buyer can choose the option that suits them. It's also provides a more modern look IMO. Maybe not everyone's cup of tea. Nice to have options though!
  7. I'd refer you to the BB mega thread - 394 pages all about Yamaha BBs 😅 https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/302794-the-yamaha-bb-mega-thread/#comment-3263093
  8. The first VS5 Superlight with swamp ash. Not bad.
  9. Whilst the colour isn't to my liking - the rest of the work looks great. Quite a convincing relic job, although the neck has no reason to be so worn after the 7th fret! 😂😉
  10. I know it is "limited", but it is impressive that Fender have elevated the Made in Mexico range to £1,700.
  11. I saw that No Treble featured one of G. Gould (founder of Modulus) basses as their "Bass of the Week", intrigued by the graphite composite neck I googled them.... I was met with some genuine early 2000s internet nostalgia in the form of their website - https://www.ggould.com/home.html In this day and age of fancy websites filled with Ads and banners. This hard to read, picture heavy website is a fun change and reminds me of the "good old days". Nice basses too.
  12. So the pre-orders are out. £4,200. Big price. https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/dingwall-effigy/ Here are some colour options too
  13. What a combo!
  14. Will repost with photos.

  15. Didn't notice it before, but the fretboard dots just...stop. I think they get away with it on the 4003S as it is only 3 frets, but the 5 blank frets on these look a bit odd.
  16. Now see, for £170 I would have ignored everything from my quick review. That's a fab price for what you're getting!
  17. Aye - unless your band is famous enough to garner the attention of the concerned parties, you can pretty much do what you want. So if you want to do the LV, crack on.
  18. I think that kind of sums up what others have said across the internet. They aren't bad strings - just maybe not what you were expecting given the branding.
  19. If it's only a temporary injury, you could do worse than a Squier Bronco or Gretsch Junior Jet 2nd hand.
  20. I kind of understand what you mean - but they must be seeing how well the JMJ and other mustang models are doing and decided to do a similar model. Don't worry, they still do the mad and wonderful stuff too (I'm sure they would do these in shorter scale too)
  21. Great colours. I reckon I'm going to ask Merchant City Music about these, they stock the guitars and now the bass range is wider than 2 models and 3 colours it might work better for them.
  22. That's a belter of a collection! Especially the two worn ones. On a totally unrelated question - anyone know why they haven't ventured into a 5 string version in the Electra range?
  23. I noticed the same in Glasgow. A few weeks ago they had maybe 2 shorties and 2 other Ricks. Now 4 shorties.
