  1. Also, I've never owned a brand new bass, always gone used. I know that you instantly lose money on new things but the idea of the bass being mine first does appeal to me a bit.
  2. Well, after things have moved on, I'll have my Bronco and a Fretless Squier Jazz. So looking for something versatile (a Lakland would suit) but I am always looking for the different things, hence the Rev and I've just seen a MTD Kingston Super 5 on Reverb with a Nordstrand in it which is also tempting.
  3. Well all fixed - it was the capacitors and I now slightly down on what I sold it for but that's life 😑
  4. I got a pretty swift response from the service department email here: [email protected]
  5. Not been a bad couple of days on the GAS front for you has it @ped! Very nice!
  6. So I need would like a new bass. Once some gear goes I'll have roughly £800 and I've kind-of-maybe narrowed it down to 3 options. Cheapest - Sire V5 or V7. They just get so much good press that it's hard to ignore Middle - The lovely P body with barts that @Aero71 is selling with a Status Neck Top - A Reverend Mercalli 4 Three very different options, and I know these threads never actually help but it's just easier to have somewhere to drop your thoughts when your partner doesn't care what you do 😅
  7. A good demonstration of the tones etc here @Al Krow Good few videos of the 5 string version too
  8. If you want a Fender headstock you are probably best looking out for Squier Broncos going cheap. I got one for £80 earlier this year and you aren't really going to get a neck for less than that. Bonus is you can recoup the cost by selling the body off etc.
  9. I don't own one either but have tried 2 so far in shops and they are well under 4kg, which is what my Sandberg weighs.
  10. To put this issue to bed. Sire have clarified that the pickup covers are removable. So Andertons just didn't know and couldn't be bothered to find out 😅
  11. Just found this on Reverb - custom made Ray body with with what looks like Ray parts and a Status neck. Cor. https://reverb.com/item/34020695-status-graphite-musicman-2020-galaxy-sparkle
  12. Now drooling over the prospect of having this and adding a Status neck to it....I'll be in touch soon if a couple of things move.
  13. Are you able to record any sound samples? Or can you say what it sounds similar to? With all those options, do you reckon it's a slightly more tame G&L L2000?
  14. Currently on the lookout for another 5 string after selling my BB425 and I'm tempted by the BB5N that's for sale just now. Decided to see what other BB5* there are out there just now - turns out not many! For £290 it seems a safe bet, anyone had one recently and can compare it to the 425 neck wise. My current favourite neck is my Sandberg Electra VS4 so even better if you can compare it to that too!
  15. Just out of interest, what are the controls?
  16. Fair point. It's such a trivial matter really that may or may not happen, but I have gone back to them with the attached picture to better help their understanding of what I'm asking
  17. Yes, I do sometimes wonder why they bother replying without giving a full answer. It's not like it's a super secret hack that makes the bass worth 4x as much, just annoying and awkward 😅
  18. With no one actually having the V5 since it is so new and retailers and brand themselves giving conflicting answers, only one way to answer my question. Buy one 😬
  19. Fingers crossed its a straightforward fix.
  20. Hardcore aged reserve. £1000 less than retail. Less than an hour from me. Erm, help.
  21. So in a follow up to my question about amp techs. I sold my Phil Jones to a lad in Liverpool, it hasn't been used for the best part of 2 years and has been sitting at my parents house. Shipped and received fine. Get a message later saying he turned it on, no lights. Left it plugged in for while and it came to life but not working as it should. Lucky for me he has been quite reasonable and got it in to an amp tech - capacitors gone apparently, and due to the supply situation he isn't sure when he would be able to get the parts 😑 The guy is really keen to keep it so going to take it to another tech to see if he has the parts or another idea. Just feel like a prize idiot for not checking it before it got shipped off, now have the headache of trying to deal with this from afar and making sure the guy who bought it eventually gets what he paid for 😕
  22. I've got the Phil Jones/Edifier ones. Very light and comfortable and always sounds good to me. My earpads are deteriorating and haven't been that heavily used so something to consider if you are interested in them.
  23. They just get it right! Thing about relics for me is the feel. They still look cool but the played in feeling on the necks is wonderful.
  24. That sounds exactly like a fretless Ray should. Very jealous! 😁
  25. Looking for an amp repair service in Liverpool if anyone has any recommendations!

I think GEE electronics are in Warrington but not far from Liverpool at all. I really need to get my Trace heads to them.
