7. I highly doubt he has to 'resort' to this. I imagine he designed them due to demand rather than necessity. Players love J basses due to their heritage but just want to change some things from the original that you can't do yourself i.e. neck radius or body wood.
8. Just wondering if anyone has tried one of Alan's shiny new J Types? http://www.acguitars.co.uk/Available/21/ Look very nice and very possibly a future investment for me. Cheers Michael
9. Just having a wee nosey on the Bay of e and found this sitting quite cheap and with not much time left http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hohner-Professional-The-Jack-4-String-Headless-bass-guitar-/260982753531?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item3cc3c8c8fb#ht_693wt_932 Think it's quite a looker and for £150 (£170 including shipping) wouldn't be a bad price Anybody think it's it worth that? Might bid for it myself actually haha
10.
Got this for the Snarling dogs 'wonder wah' - I would presume that the 'wah' circuit is based around the same idea, but with a couple of capacitor alterations to allow for more low end... http://i69.photobuck.../SD-WW-Pg-2.jpg Sorry, I haven't got anything else at the moment.
Ahhh cheers mate! I'll have a look and see what I can rustle up with this new info. Gonna give the manufacturers a call see if they can shed some more light on this Thanks again
11. Anybody give me any help on this issue? Cheers again Michael
12. Hi all I recently bought a Snarling Dogs Bootzilla Bass Wah that was under spares and repairs missing most of it's components I was just wondering if anybody on happened to have a circuit diagram for this pedal or had any information on it that may help me get it back to working order Thanks in Advance Michael
13.
This, in spades. I'm a terminal fiddler these days, and that's what I'd do. Then there's different strings you can experiment with...

or price of selling bass plus price or upgrades... is there anything secondhand at that price that wpuld do what you wanted better
@ Muzz yeah from what I've read/heard switching to such bridges as the Badass II makes a huge difference to almost any P or J bass so that is definitely one of the first things that will be bought. @ LukeFRC Possibly, but I have my G&L that does everything an more This is definitely more of a learning experience for me of how to change pickups and setting up a bass with a new bridge etc.
14.
Why? what are you wanting to achieve with the preamp? (and can you fit a battery in?) My suggestion.... buy a external preamp in a pedal. that way you have the same control but don't have to mod your bass (and can resell easier if it doesn't work out) Actually I think if I had the bass you do and some money I would go more the line of... high mass bridge (fitted one to same model and it brought the sound alive in a way I didn't expect it to) new pickups (wizard for value, nordstand if I had the money, EMG if I liked that kind of tone) and maybe tuners or nut if it needed one, prob not.

Be sure that you love the Squier before you start going down that route Michael, as preamp upgrades aren't generally cheap and fitting something like you have suggested will cost almost as much as the bass is worth... and it won't mean that the bass will be worth significantly more with it fitted!
Thanks guys for your help! The reason I was wanting to do this was to try something new. I've never upgraded something before but I can see where you are both coming from. I was kind of planning to do a minor overhaul on this bass, the bridge and the pickups were very near the top of that list but the preamp question was just to see what people more experienced than myself thought. The routing for a preamp would be a very big commitment. I might put the preamp idea on the backburner and focus on things that can be changed more easily for now Cheers
15. Hi all I have a Squier P bass Special which has a P/J setup and I was just wondering if anyone would fancy recommending an upgrade in the preamp department. I have heard good things about East preamps but I am unsure which one I would need as there seems to be one for Jazz basses and one for P basses. Any advice would be greatly appreciated Michael
16. Thanks for the advice Alfie, got a few friends who make/repair guitars so I'll see if they can conjure up something for me Cheers M
17.
I tried getting a pickguard for a Squier P Bass Special. Not only were the screw holes out, the neck pocket was the wrong size and the distance between the neck and the pickups was different. I tried a few different brands but nothing came close to fitting so be warned.
Thanks very much for your help guys! Just to check the model you have has the P and J pickups? http://www.musicroom.com/se/ID_No/01022722/details.html?kbid=1582 Cheers
18. Hi all I was thinking about putting a new pickguard on my bass but there is one thing I am unsure about, since it has 2 volume controls and 1 tone there are 3 controls compared to the standard 2 and the other hole being in the input jack. Would I just be able to buy a standard MIM pickguard and just put the pot through the hole where the input jack would be or should I get one custom made? Thanks in Advance M
19. Hi all Just wondering if anyone had tried one these - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EKO-BA4L-Florence-Electro-Acoustic-Bass-Solid-Sitka-Spruce-Top-Sunburst-Finish-/390366888683?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item5ae3ae02eb#ht_2183wt_1344 Quite interesting looks for an acoustic bass. For £180 it could be worth a punt Cheers M
20. Hi there all! Been playing for about 7 years now and I'm looking for people to either jam with or start a band just something to keep busy with and have fun doing so I play pretty much all styles of music (if I enjoy it, then it's good) so through a tune my way and I'll give it my best go! Based in the centre so I can get to most places via the subway Cheers M
21. Only 2 days to go. If you are free and want to see some great British Blues please get yourself over to Cadogan Hall

23. Just a quick question here. http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/product/58085-squier-by-fender-p-bass-special-antique-burst-.html/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=shopping&utm_campaign=base I've got a Squier P Bass Special and I want to change the pickguard on it, since it has the extra control knob where the input jack normally would be. Would I be able just to fit a standard P Bass pickguard or would I have to get one custom made? Thanks in Advance M
24. Like Blues? Like Charity? Then this gig is right up your street! The best of British blues is getting together for this one off event to celebrate all the brilliant work that our service men and women have done for us, and to help raise money for Help for Heroes and help all of those that have been injured on the front line The line up includes the Blues Band, Matt Schofield and Ian Seigal plus special guests Paddy Milner and Robin Trower, not bad for a Saturday night All the info can be found here http://www.cadoganha...ge.php?pid=1569 Check out the Facebook page too http://www.facebook.com/BluesForHeroes PR bit done, but in all seriousness this will be a brilliant night and it is for a fantastic cause and even if you can't make it you can "Buy A Ticket For A Soldier" and help out that way. I really hope some of you will read this and maybe come along to the gig, even if it is just for the music M
