Another option - albeit and bit pricey. But if you're looking for something a bit different this could work well! The Eastwood Rivolta https://www.notreble.com/buzz/2024/12/07/eastwood-guitars-announces-the-rivolta-mondata-bass-guitar/

I think he was answering your question by saying the 4s are 19mm - making the 5s 17.5mm. Haven't played or seen one, but very few of these styles of basses would have the wider 19mm spacing. Mainly left to more modern basses like MTD and certain I Ibanez models.

That sounds like one of the SUB series, which was the previous base level model. They aren't bad by any means but I think this thread makes us question what value you get from paying full RRP from Music Man, whatever series or model you buy

Whilst Owen is now sorted, does anyone have any other recommendations? My dad has asked for a set for Christmas and will be doing predominately guitars

Limited time Joe Dart Signature Bass, Go…
BassApprentice replied to AlexDelores's topic in General Discussion
On the back of that, I wonder how much it would cost to get an AliExpress version...a Noe Dart if you will. Quite tempted to give it a go. -
Some motivation to get back playing would be great! 😅 If that does appear - I'll be getting some new pickups for my MTD Kingston or alternatively getting a Kingston Super 5!

NBD: ****** ******* ** (AKA Status Buzzard B2)
BassApprentice replied to Beedster's topic in Bass Guitars
I remember having a picture of that, along with the original Buzzard as my desktop background when I was younger. A proper dream bass! Very jealous! Need to go the whole hog and get the Optima Gold Strings! -
What will a Jaguar Bass do for me.........?

If only there was a high output bass with a P pickup and woofer ready to go.... Looks cool though! -
The Short Scale Bass Appreciation Society!
BassApprentice replied to Baloney Balderdash's topic in Bass Guitars
The thing is, they have the template for smaller body as they made the 481G for the guy in Kasabian. Would be far better tweaking that than shoehorning a short scale on to a full scale body. -

Whilst it's a cool and all, £750 for a bass with the same less electronics and hardware as the SUB range.... -
Limited time Joe Dart Signature Bass, Go…

Same - but as you say expected. Weren't going to be for everyone since Dart's tone is normally super compressed so the bass will sound very different in your hands vs his. -

And there's one for sale. Slight bit of profiteering but not really much you can do since you can't buy them new (as it stands) -

I realise I phrased that badly 😅 I meant what @martthebass said. The pickup changes seem to lean towards a more vintage sound, which you can get from any number of Fender basses at this price point but the build quality and finish of Sandberg is above them. So you'll happily spend a touch more on pickups. -

From reading here, it seems a few have changed pickups. Surely changing the pickups speaks volumes about the build quality and value of Sandberg versus other Fender shaped basses? -
PMT - physical shops going downhill?
BassApprentice replied to sammybee's topic in General Discussion
Apologies if that came off as a negative, but it is true. I know as I'm one of them! 😂 I'll go in for a nosey, on a lunch break or the like and have zero intention of buying, but I'd still expect the people in the shop to perk up and have a wee chat. -
PMT - physical shops going downhill?
BassApprentice replied to sammybee's topic in General Discussion
I worked in retail recently, specifically watches, so understand the niche/geeky clientele it can bring. I learnt that you have to appreciate those who are truly interested and will invariably just be in to browse and kill time, but at least have a quick chat with them. Yes, it takes you away from other tasks. Yes, it might not be a sale, but at some point it will be if you do the right thing. Timewasters can be annoying, and I can see that being a big problem in guitar shops, but customers keep the doors open. -

"New" Epiphone Thunderbirds - Thunderbird '64
BassApprentice replied to neepheid's topic in Bass Guitars
Not to tempt anyone, but the purple one whilst being sold out, does say available on demand...😅 Might be worth a message to see what that means timeframe wise -
Not having much luck with basses just now! Hopefully you find a good one soon enough, such a faff having to return them.

I know these things are very much down to specs and materials, but what sort of price range does he sit in? If I were to commission a bass, being able to support a local guy would be handy!

NBD - Sterling by Music Man Joe Dart Bass
BassApprentice replied to petecarlton's topic in Bass Guitars
As above - I am big Vulfpeck and all surrounding projects fan, but couldn't stomach those costs. As basic as they are, they do look cool. However, should you find it's not for you I'll politely take my spot at the front of the queue for first dibs 😂 -
