Many might dislike him and the music Level 42 made, but I doubt they can deny the impact he made on the amount of people picking up bass throughout the 80's and and changing the public perception of the instrument at that point. A big influence on me many years ago when I got into slap properly, but all I see nowadays is far too many of his clones, which unfortunately grows tiring as they seem to lack any real originality other than writing lines that sound like Love Games, Mr Pink, or The Chinese Way. I will say that some of his more fingerstyle based lines are often overlooked.

I sold my jazz to John yesterday and the whole thing went by nice and easily and it was a pleasure to finally meet him
Many thanks to Johngh for his efforts and also to the members who have offered their help, I am very grateful. The seller in this case uses the BC name mojobass. If anyone here knows him, please get in touch. thanks Mike
He messaged me on January 24th as he was interested in some MEC's I had for sale, but I sold them to someone else in the end. -
OLP - One Lucky Purchase
Over the last few years, quite a few nice basses have been through my hands. Alembic, Vigier, Fbass, Spector, Custom shop Fender and Status. Couple of weeks ago I bought an £80 OLP MM3 5string from BC member Josh (great guy to deal with) with partly working electrics. I had planned to make this a fretless project however, after 10 minutes with a soldering iron, I fixed the problem (wire off the front vol control) and now, I seem to have found the tone and playability I'd wasted about £10,000 on trying to find. Haven't picked up anything else since and the expensive stuff have been relegated to wall hangers. Not going to defret it now. There's a lesson here somewhere.
The joy of two volume controls on a Stingray hey? Glad you're happy with it though mate And as I said to Keith when he picked up the bass, my £200 Squier CV is one of the best purchases I've made on any incarnation of this site.

Just having a clear out and I had completely forgotten that I have a pair of Warwick MEC MM pick ups from a Corvette $$ which were replaced with Bartolinis, and then I remember I had a few other things lying around too which aren't going to be put to use. Pics: Pearloid Jazz Scratchplate: I bought this a little while ago so I could record onto my iPad, but I've since acquired an outboard soundcard so it's now it's not needed: Prices: Warwick MEC's - SOLD Squier CV Bridge - SOLD Black Bridge - SOLD Scratchplate - £10 Line 6 - £30 Billy Sheehan Book - SOLD Thanks guys, Josh.

I posted this in the other thread a little while ago, but seeing as our new songs are almost mixed and mastered, I thought there's no harm in posting this again http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5W065kcGNM

Bump with a slight price drop Here's a soundclip of the bass, I'm just cycling through the main tones with the tone set about halfway: https://soundcloud.c...-duddridge/sqf2 Both. Bridge. Neck. Slap. All recorded flat through Garageband, with a little added compression.

Hey all, This is the result of a bit of a change over with my two jazzes. What we have is a 2012 Fender USA American Special Body which includes the Master Greasebucket tone control, which basically rolls off the treble without adding bass, coupled with the neck from my Squier CV jazz which IMO is a great neck. The AS originally came with an all maple neck and fingerboard but I have switched that on to my Squier as it is my workhorse and I've always loved the olympic white/maple combination. But even with the Squier neck on the Fender body it still sounds great. If anything, because it's rosewood it now sounds lot more warmer which I prefer. Pics: The tort plate on it currently is the one from my CV and as such it's not exactly a perfect fit, but it will also come with the original white scratch plate. Aside from that, it is a fully functioning and great sounding bass as it is but it could also be used for a project or for someone else to use as a parts bass Price: SOLD. Thanks, Josh.

Here's my duo post cosmetic surgery: They are both now essentially Fender CV's I swapped the maple neck from the black American special as I've always loved the olympic white/tortoiseshell combo. My CV is my go to bass and has been the culprit behind selling quite a few basses as it was a £200 investment which has gone a long way, so I figured why not take it further with a nice maple neck and a Schaller roller bridge. I can safely say that it could now easily make someone believe it's a proper Fender.

Hey All, I've had this little head for over a year now and it's served me well but after Christmas it will be surplus to requirements so it's time to move it on. Pics: It is in good used condition, theres a little bit of scuffing along the top but hopefully that's clear in the last photo. Other than that it works perfectly fine. Specs: • 200 watts @ 4 ohms, 140 watts @ 8 ohms • 10dB pad • Four-band active EQ w/contour • Headphone/line output • XLR out, pre/post EQ • Speakon output • 7.75x8x1.75 • 2 lbs. Price: £125 posted. Thanks, Josh.

Hey All, I bought this a little while ago to modify it and make it a great budget 5 string stingray, but unfortunately I haven't had much time or enough money to put into this bass and as such it has been sat in a gig bag untouched for months, and right now I could do with a little more spare money. Some quick pics: It's actually in pretty good condition, there are no dings or marks anywhere. The only fault is that one of the volume controls has stopped working, which I'm guessing is due to weak soldering but the other volume control and tone control both work fine. It could also benefit from a professional set up to level the frets as well, but it is still very playable. Specs: Basswood body North American Maple Neck Rosewood Fingerboard 22 Frets 34" Scale Musicman Style Humbucker Controls: Volume, Volume, Tone. Heavy Duty Bridge Black Hardware Price: £80 Unfortunately I have nothing to post the bass in so this a collection only sale I'm afraid, it will include a new Fender gigbag though. Thanks, Josh.
If you're a fan it's worth getting, as is Beyond The Lighted Stage.
Thanks to Beyond the Lighted Stage I'm now going through quite a hefty Rush phase so it gets a big +1 from me. I've also seen the classic albums DVD too and I found it quite interesting I just can't believe it's taken me so long to actually get into them, instead of only knowing a couple of tracks.
