1.
I used to have a bolt-on Smith 5-er that I bought from the Bass Centre in its Wapping days ('98/9 ish) Great bass but fell out with it as quick as I got into it. Sold it for snip too The US market for Smith must be huge compared to over here as it seems to be one of THE gospel basses to have along with MTD.
+ 1 on all of that. And can definitely back up the last part as well.

I'm not wearing my slippers to the Chippy yet .
  10. Need to move this bass on to fund moving out . This bass has seen some action, but generally has been cared for by lee650 since he bought it about 6 years ago and I've maintained it further. Pics: I tried my best to highlight the surface scratch on the front which is the only really noticeable ding on the bass, other than that the bass is in pretty good condition. Specs: Swamp Ash Body. AA Grade Flamed Maple Top. MEC Musicman and Jazz Pick Ups. 3 Way coil Switching. Ovangkol Neck. Wenge Fingerboard. JAN 3. Price: £500 inc. Case and P&P. Thanks All, Josh.

Bump. Any USA Jazz basses also considered.
  19. Your really not going to get any new debates out of this old bean, it is purely down to personal preference which can't be rightly disputed. I'm baffled by the amount of his clones that litter the music shops with their poor technique and under practiced Flea licks, but ultimatley the guy is a decent introduction to Bass, as is Claypool, Cliff Burton etc... You can put up as many Meshell or Wooten videos to prove "your" point, but really what difference will it make?
The neck isn't spalted maple, it's birdseye maple. And very lovely it is too.
Amended .
That's odd, my profile isn't set to private at all.

  24. Josh

    Sold.

Bump. Had some pretty good offers thus far, but the bass is still up for grabs.
  25. I'd say have a look into some Gallien Krueger gear, for me I find them the best for controlling and maintaining that classic Jazz growl on any Jazz. Quite a few GK combo's pop up on here at times.
