1. Custom boutique HBE Power Screamer in red sparkle finish, comes with original box, pedal is in immaculate condition with no chips, scratches or scuffs. It has velcro on bottom, but has never actually been gigged. This is a very cool overdrive gain pedal, based on the various classic Ibanez Tube Screamers. It has three different diodes to choose from, giving you a selection of different gain characteristics; which is kinda like having three classic Tube Screamers in one pedal. On top of that, this Screamer has a switchable boost too for standing out in the mix, when you need a little more volume. The Boost can be selected/deselected whether the Screamer is activated or not too. Tone, volume and gain controls are all very sensitive and easily controlled and give a wide range of overdrive characteristics. If you like your Tubes screaming with Power, this is the pedal to get. Demo here: £85 + £5 shipping. No offers please. Can be collected from Nottingham with no shipping charge of course.
2. Very neat and funky little 30w vintage valve bass amp made by Selmer in 1968, with all point-to-point wiring, with valve rectifier too. Bought here in Apr '12, having just been serviced and I've only used it twice since then. It comes with some pretty rare and valuable valves in it too; they're Brimar I think. See original advert here: http://basschat.co.u...valve-amp-sold/ I bought this amp for a studio project that I ended up not doing. Anyway I am playing guitar rather than bass these days. It's got a nice warm tone with a very effective cut/boost tone control that takes it from velvety Jamerson-type tones through to bright and punchy tones associated with late 70s funkateers like Bernard Edwards. It's also remarkably loud; but as you all probably know 30w of valve power is way more than 30w of transistor power. My amp tech says that valve wattage doesn't have a lot to do with how loud an amp is anyway. The great tone and loud punch are probably down to the enormous and very heavy indeed transformers in it. I just tested it again with a 79 MusicMan Stingray into a 1x15 MusicMan ported cab and it sounded fantastic. You can get a good growl out of it too. Only thing I need to mention is that while it's warming up it tends to hiss and hum a bit, typical of vintage valve amps from '60s; but once it's settled down to playing temperature it's fine and virtually no hiss at all. Sold for £124.75 on the Bay
3. bought a CoPilot Antdroid off Harry - this pedal is way cool and freaky fun good deal, comms, etc thanks Rupert
4. I love compressors and if I didn't have three already, I'd be all over this, especially as Spencer's gear is soooo good. BTW - great pic for your posts you've got there - I saw that bass player on Jools and thought...now that is a playing face! Have a bump on me..
5. Rats, I was after left-handed angles! Have a bump on me for this tomfoolery. Seriously tho, these are great cables....just resist the temptation to over-bend the cables when tightening down the jacks. The cables aren't weak or anything; it's just that by not over-bending the cable the jacks bed into the cable more easily for a better contact.
6.
We've obviously been traumatised by our ownership of the Carlsbro sh*te in our youth. I think we should sue for compensation.
and another for the CarlsBollox ShitBay 150w combo - those push button EQ filters were shocking; best to pop them all out and grit your teeth to get thru the rehearsal/gig....
7. Hi Due to misunderstanding on my part and great comms, clarity and patience from the excellent Mr Topo Morto, I haven't bought the Morse Device after all. Topo is a top bloke to deal with and here's a Morse bump, bump, bumpety, bumpety, bump.......BUMP for his troubles with me.
8. Ill t-t-t-take that stutter Pm to follow
9.
2 x 4 ohms cabs in parallel = 2 ohms = fried bassman 2 x 4 ohms cabs in series = 16 ohms = very little power 2 x 8 ohms cabs in parallel = 4 ohms = most efficient
That's v informative - thanks Mr Vindi I have both a 1x15 8ohm cab and a 2x15 (2 x 8ohm spkrs) cab which I know gives me 4ohm load. The Bassman 2x15 cab (exactly like one being sold here) is awesome and v efficient indeed; especially since I reinforced all seams of cab and braced baffle to back board of cab. The 1x15 cab (which is actually an old MusicMan ported cab) is less loud, but gives more grind. Both send me to bass heaven with that 135 head, which is definitely way better than the Bassman 100. Incidentally I now play guitar more than bass and for big gigs I will put guitar through the Normal channel of the Bassman 135 and the 1x15 cab. This is actually the original Bassman configuration for guitar, of course. Apparently Leo Fender's favourite cab for guitar was a 1x15. He was right too in my personal experience. I reckon this rig is just as awesome for guitar as for bass. Bumparoo for you, Karim
10. As far as I know, the Bassman 135 can run 4ohms or 8ohms of impedance load from speakers. I think two 4ohm cabs would amount to 2ohms, which I reckon would result in a fried Bassman head. However you may be able to do something clever that I don't understand, like run the two 4ohm cabs in parallel instead of series or vice versa and create an acceptable load for the amp......NB. I have no idea how you would do this or if it is correct! Meanwhile karim...have another bump on me
11. Hi Does anyone know any reliable female lead singers around Nottingham who might be interested in joining a 9-10 piece '70s-'80s disco band with gigs waiting? If so please ask them to call me on 07825 702798 or email me on [email protected] Thanks Rupert Bassnut
12. I think hotrodding is a bit more internal trickery. Channel jumping is fine, just start with gain down a bit on both channels and raise them til it squeals, just before that point is v sweet with a bit more grind. You wont do any damage if youre careful. Cant believe this rig hasnt sold already. Whats wrong with you peops?! This is a rig to sell a limb for.... Have a bump on me.
13. Have another bump on me - I have the exact same rig and it is 'da bomb'! Nothing compares and it can outstrip any other bass rig IMO for big bottom and beautiful warm clarity. They get nice and gnarly if you jump the channels with a patch lead too.
14.
Merc E Class Estate? Can get the whole planet in mine....
that's just what I was gonna say, and preferably the 300-TE 24v although I actually had the same straight six engine in a coupe and I could fit my StingRay, 1x15 cab and Bassman head, plus big Pedaltrain effects case and other bits n bobs all in the boot of the coupe. aahh...those were the days!

16. Compression is great for more cut thru; but I reckon it's best before the fuzz. This means you get a nice tight signal that you can fuzz up like a mutha; this arrangement helps retain bottom end too, which can get lost with fuzz.
17. Hi Mr Ghost Rider I don't mean to hijack your post; but not sure how to attach image in direct message....anyway, I notice you have a great amp stack listed in your signature and just want to say nice choice! Here's mine, which is also a 1979 Bassman 135 and 1979 Bassman 215!
18. Have a bump for free in admiration of a fine amp. I've owned mine for over 15 years; its never let me down and it always sounds in-f#%€ing-credible with either bass or guitar.
19.
Main amp for the past year has been an H&K Tubemeister, but I'm gonna flog it now. Doesn't get switched on at home since I bought an Axe-fx. I'll probably get a cab and poweramp for it at some point.
I went to see Dweezil Zappa play last night in Nottingham and I reckon that Axe-fx was what he was using with a power amp and a couple of 2x12 cabs. He had a great sound and some top-drawer fx on hand; not sure if they were coming from the Axe-fx or a bunch of boutique-looking pedals he was using too.
20. eyes left for a glimpse of the '79 Ray I've owned since about '83. it's a natural with maple neck and black scratch plate. lovely bass...
21.
What did you think of the MFD pickups on the Asat? I haven't had a chance to try them out yet
Excuse me chipping in on this - I now have DubJunkie's black Asat Special with the MFDs (ref post above) and those pups are one of the big reasons why many around here think this is the best Tele in town. I like those MFDs because they are just the right amount fuller in sound than conventional Tele pups and they can drive an amp to hell and back; but then roll back on the volume and they clean up exceptionally well. They give an incredibly clear and transparent tone, that makes the guitar almost sound like a high-end acoustic. The guitar still retains that Tele twang if you want it too. Great piece of kit and great pups.
22.
I like it! I still hanker after the fullerton red G&L Legacy I sold to you. I had owned that guitar from new, imported directly from the States. I was fond of the neck on that guitar.it was different from anything else I had at that time,G&L's included - it was a big old handful....sounds fairly similiar in profile to this one? Man I miss my G&L's - at one time I had the red Legacy, a black Asat Special and a blueburst Invader XL Std. great guitars......
Hi dub junkie I still have that black G&L Asat Special you kindly sold me a few years back and still love it to bits - many people down here in Nottingham are v impressed with it and reckon it's the best Tele in these parts. I hope you still have some nice guitars to play; cos your taste in guitars is clearly v good indeed. BTW - not only do G&L make great guitars, but they're basses are to die for as well. I have an '89 Leo Fender signature G&L Asat Bass and that is a peach too. Coming back to guitar necks, I picked up an MIJ Fender '54 Strat from early '90s and that has one of the nicest necks I know of; it's a chunky V slowly softening to somewhere between and D and a C. It has sweet alnico USA vintage pups on it too that drive a valve amp beautifully with a bit of clean boost.
