1.
Ooh, combo... Ashdown Little Bastard Drophead. Deep breath before looking at the price though!!! Otherwise an Ampeg Fliptop, but that could end up even pricier than the drophead... The LB head and matching 1x12 do look very nice though if you're not 100% restricted to a combo, and cheaper than the drophead. I've built/modded a few valve amps in my time and this kind of project is something I'd love to build for myself in the future.
Now this is getting more towards my ideal home rig. I had been thinking about an old Ampeg flip top; that Ashdown does look like a good take on it, but too expensive. As you say an original Ampeg flip top would be cheaper! Have you tried the Ashdown rig? If so, what did you think? My only few experiences of Ashdown have been that they are trying too hard to copy vintage US valve sounds.
2. Hmmm, some good suggestions here. Thanks. I'm really looking for a small combo though. I've been using my Fender Blues Jnr at safe volumes (for this small 15w all-valve guitar combo); but I really want to crank a small good looking valve bass combo to the sweet spot at home. This dream combo needs to be an acceptable size for Mrs Bassnut to tolerate its presence in the living room too. Any more suggestions?
3. Fender Blues Junior, upgrade speaker to whatever suits you. You may want to get the mid tone stack modded so you can cut mid out 100%, depending on what speaker you go for. Check out BillM site for mods and speaker recommendations.
4. Hi Guitarists are able to buy some very tasty low watt valve amps these days, pushing as little as 5 or even 1 watt. These amps could be new or vintage, like the old Fender Champs for guitarists. They are great for home practice and recording. Does anyone know of anything like this for bass players?

15. Hi all, For sale................ Cussack Screamer Fuzz – This is a tasty boutique Tube Screamer with a gated Fuzz thrown in. You can blend the Fuzz into the Scream or run either on their own. The Scream also has a three-way switch that offers high/low gain and my favourite setting which provides clipping break-up, a bit like a subtle bit-crush. One of the joys of this pedal is that it just adds Fuzz and/or Scream and allows your original tone to shine through. £75 posted.
16. PM re Serrano Picoso
17. just tried a BK Butler with bias control on guitar last night. that is one nice bit of kit. as Musky says - the bias control is a great attraction; but it's not all that's so nice about it - it produces distinct and delicous layers of creamy distortion that cheaper pedals usually don't get close to IME I compared the Butler to a Keely Tube Screamer, an HBE Power Screamer and a Catalinbread SFT It smoked the two Screamers in no time, but then they are different animals. The SFT gave it a serious run for its considerable money though. The SFT could produce the same distinct layers of tube amp like distortion as the Butler, but doesn't have the bias control. I think the Butler's layers of dirt were slightly more pleasing to the ear; but not much in it really. the Butler is probably about £300 compared to about £120 for the SFT. Pound for pound the SFT wins; but the Butler is a dream piece of kit IMO. .....if only there was a bass available at the time of testing! PS. the Butler produces its own natural tube compression, the SFT needs it to be added, which I did with Keely 4-knob (at £175) So the SFT and Keely 4-knob is £300, compared to the Butler at £300....hmmmm, not so straight forward a price comparison now. If all you wanted was incredible amp-like tube drive and distortion, then I'd get the Butler But then that Keely is a great compressor and it would be nice to have that available on its own for use with other toys......
18. hmmm....good idea don't know the DHA unit - wot is it? ta

20. Wot, no takers already Weekend price reduction is here, meaning you can have this baby for a measly £10 + shipping now. It'll be great for whiling away cold Xmas afternoons....
21. Hi I have this neat and cheap compressor available. It's best suited to someone with some soldering skills. I bought this pedal brand new from Hong Kong very recently for about £28.50 incl shipping to UK and it has only had about 1 hour's use.I All I want for it is £10 + shipping to your door. Direct online bank payment please. That's all the good stuff..............................now the not-so-good stuff........ The TBP footswitch latch on this pedal failed. I have bought a new TBP footswitch from Hot Rox in Nottingham (for £5) and an ICT mate of mine has tried to wire this in; but his efforts have come to nothing. This sale would suit someone with FX pedal soldering skills and tools or maybe it would suit someone who knows a cheap tech that can wire the new switch in correctly for about £5. I'll even throw in a pic of how a correctly-wired one of these should look! Thanks for the pic, Mart, if you're looking at this advert. Here's pics of the one for sale
