1. It's criminal that this hasn't been snapped up! Amazing basses for the money. Someone is gonna get a bargain (eventually!!) Have a "Yamahas are under-rated bump"
2. Ahh yes, i bought up most of the bubble wrap in Liverpool for that one, if I remember correctly
3. Silly price for an amazing bass. Mine was this colour before I refinished it. Fellow owner's bump!
4.
bobby is a gent'... deal with no fear..
The same can be said for Mr G (thanks Pierre!)
5. Hello BC'ers! Here is my workhorse P bass, reluctantly up for sale. Fender Japan (CIJ) 3 tone sunburst with tort guard. Dates to between 2004-2006, but was bought brand new in 2007, from mijfenders.com I have toured up and down the country with it ever since, with the Smiths tribute and it has performed admirably. A couple of things are forcing the sale. Firstly, it's a very grim looking January work wise; all my usual bread and butter gigs just aren't happening, as a lot of the venues just don't wanna book at the moment. Secondly, having bought a very nice Yamaha fretless from BC'er MoJo last week, the old one-in-one-out policy has kicked in. As there doesn't seem to be much happening at all on the Smiths tribute front this year either, this one has to go, as nice as it is Pretty sure this is the PB-62 model (not the PB-62US) and fairly certain it's made of basswood. It comes in at 8.5 LBS on the scales, for those that are interested. It's a really nice looking bass. The maple on the neck and headstock has got a lovely amber tint to it and gives it a bit of an aged look, along with the slightly off white side dots on the edge of the neck. The maple neck has some nice figuring to it too and in certain lighting conditions, almost looks slightly "quilted" or "rippled" - I've tried to capture this in the photos, but it's very hard to photograph. As you'd expect from a bass that has been well gigged, it does have its little dings and dongs, but there is nothing terrible. These are mostly on the bottom edge of the bass and I've tried to photograph the worst ones. There are also a couple of tiny dinks on the underside of the headstock, but again, hardly worth mentioning. There is also a slight crack in the plastic on the pickup, just under the A string. Again, nothing to worry about, purely cosmetic and hardly visible (see pic) I've had a few different pickups in the bass from time to time, ever the experimenter! I always ended up putting the original back in though, as nothing seemed to sound as good and that's what's in the bass now. (You live and learn!) One of the downsides of changing the pickups in and out was that the pickup lead wires ended up getting significantly shorter, so I put some new cloth covered, vintage style lead wires in the pickup. I also upgraded to one of John's (BC'er kiogon) screw terminal wiring looms, which has CTS pots and a Switchcraft jack socket. There isn't a case with the bass, so collection would be preferred, but it can also be shipped at the buyer's expense. I'll just need to get hold of some shipping materials first. Meeting halfway is also an option and within reason, I can deliver personally if it's not too far away and we can come to some arrangement on fuel costs etc. I am based in Liverpool. Looking for £370 collected, or can ship at buyer's expense. Here are the pics:
6. Before i scrolled down from the bass pic, I did think "I wonder if Truckstop has seen this..."
7.
First thing I thought was "Tights Fetishist".
8. All fair comments mate Good luck with this month's!
9.
The first rule of the photo is: we don't talk about the photo
I think you've got a point there mate, doh!! I'm the type of person you should never tell secrets to
10. John bought my AH250 last year. No probs at all. Had a good chat about all things bass as you do, top bloke! Would happily do business again
11. Just bought a fretless yamaha from Mark. Met halfway on the M6, no probs at all. Would happily deal with him again
12. Of course, it doesn't have to be political at all (maybe I shouldn't have mentioned where it came from) As that fella on Catchphrase used to say.... say what you see!!
13. Thanks for the kind words everybody It's hardly worth mentioning, but I can honestly say that I didn't promote my piece at all for December, or canvas for votes. I just relied on votes coming in from whoever had the time to listen. It's great that people got what I was trying to say with the piece. It was great to take part and an added bonus to be voted the winner. Now, get on over to the other thread and see what you can come up with for this month; I'm really looking forward to what comes out with this one
14. Hope you can work something with this pic chaps. I found it incredibly hard to choose something, but then I saw this on the BBC news website, under "the year in pictures." It's from a performance that was part of the "Occupy Wall Street" demonstrations last year. Looking forward to hearing what you come up with ;-)
15. Bear with me chaps... I'm finding that coming up with a composition is a doddle compared to coming up with a picture!!
16. Cheers Nige! Wowsers... I really expected to get up this morning to a three way tie Once again, what an excellent bunch of compositions we had this month, top work all Thanks to anyone who voted for my piece. I'll try and come up with an image for this month's comp as soon as I can, hopefully sometime today.
17.
It's the canvassing for votes I have a major problem with. I think it's deeply unfair. I'm glad there's no prize this month, even if that means it gets a quarter of the votes it did last month, at least they are more likely to be honest votes.
Agreed
18. Incredible bargain!! I really miss my old fretless 5 'Ray, someone is gonna love this. Beautiful maple on the neck there!
19.
Voted. For Bobby K. It's a lovely interpretation of the picture, really sweetly composed and very sensitively performed. I really, really liked it. Also liked SKOL's and bobbass4k's.
Thanks very much mate, I'm made up you appreciated it, very kind words indeed Makes it worthwhile taking part, for sure. Was a tough call for me to choose one, but in the end it just had to be Skol, last month's winner. The production was absolute genius, I have to say. Set the scene perfectly for me. Really conveyed the drunken madness so well. All those crazy sounds coming and going, I felt a bit unsteady just listening to it Excellent standard of work. A very very close second had to be Stephen Houghton's piece, just brilliant and SO funny, we were all LOLing in the Bobby K household As others have said though, the standard in general was tremendous and I'm so glad I took part. I'll see how things go but i'm gonna try and take part in more of these monthly comps
20. PM'd
21. Surely an unbelievable bargain!! 300 quid is nothing for quality like this, shouldn't be here long...
22. Very difficult mate, some great stuff once again...
23. The dream fretless for me, for sure. Can't stop looking at it. It's just out of my league financially. I like the 1st fret position marker too, lovely touch. Somebody from the financial premier league will be along to take it soon, I have no doubt
24. I think this will sell pretty sharpish, what a beauty!
