Hello all Here we have a hardly used DiMarzio Model P pickup for sale, pretty much like new. The wires are all still pretty much the same length they were as new, as I used the pup with one of Kiogon's screw terminal harnesses. I put this in my Jap P bass a few months back and have done a handful of gigs with it. The output from this pickup is huge in comparison to the stock pup and sounds great, but i have decided to go back to the stock pickup, so this is now up for grabs. Cost me just over 70 quid brand new a few months back, looking for 50 quid posted Still have the screws and original fitting instructions (these are slightly more complicated than your usual P pickup, as there are four wires to attach, but all is explained in the instructions) I have also left some sponges attached under the pup, for ease of installation. Cheers Bob

For the Andy Rourke sound, get a P bass, use a pick and make sure your strings are pretty new and bright. An amp with a decent EQ helps too, such as an old Trace. Works for me anyway. I recently put some Model P's in the P bass I use with the Smiths tribute. Massively louder than the stock pups!! But I'm not so sure it's the sound i need; seems to be a little more crunchy and not as clear as before. I think I'll be putting the stock pups back in.

God knows how I'm gonna weigh this beast Boris I only have a set of bathroom scales with a glass top, pretty certain they wouldn't stand a chance with this lump on top of them. It is liftable with the two side handles but is obviously heavy. With careful manouevering, you can get it in the back of a car by holding one of the handles and balancing on your knee (sort of!) As for measurements, approx 61cmwidth x 69cmheight x 43cm depth. My 2 x 10 goes on top of this very comfortably and is pretty much the same dimensions as the 1153 I'm sure - at least i'm hoping so Here's my 2 x 10 on top of the 18 (the feet on the 2 x 10 slot nicely into the cups on the 18) -
Ok chaps Trace 18 inch beast of a cab for sale. Pre Gibson, 300 watts, 8 Ohms. Tolex covered, in excellent condition, no rips in the tolex, just extremely light scuffing here and there. Got this in a trade last year, gigged only a couple of times, in conjunction with my 2 x 10. Only moving it on because I'm feeling old and frail and need something a bit more compact. For this reason, I'd consider a trade for a Trace 1153 (with a 43cm depth) in similar condition but needs to be tolex, not carpet covered - to match the rest of my rig. Otherwise, for a straight sale, I'm looking for £150 Cab sounds great used with a 2 x 10, or can be used as a standalone. PICKUP ONLY I'M AFRAID, DUE TO THE WEIGHT, BUT CAN MEET HALFWAY ETC, WITHIN REASON. BASED IN LIVERPOOL

All sorted now... A mate of mine has the same bass and has checked underneath his pickup. As suspected, the pos wire does indeed go in the eyelet closest to the neck. Cheers all for the input

It will be a while before I actually fix the pickup, as I'm attempting a refinish on the bass itself. May be some time, but will let you know how I get on when I put the wires back in...

Beauty In lovely original nick too, lovely example of a classic. One day I'll have one!
-
Ok got one of those. What would I do then...?
-
Not got another to compare with, other than the p pickup from the same bass. Not got a compass either, but I'm intrigued all the same...

Yeah, I did that very image search myself before posting here and generally found this to be the case. This is a yamaha though, but I don't suppose it matters. If I had to guess, I'd solder the wires back in as you describe. We'll see what happens...

Oh dear.... Whilst dismantling a bass and taking out the pickups, i've managed to snap off the red and black lead wires from the underside of one of the pickups It was no wonder, as the wires are extremely brittle. The pickup is a J type (2nd pup in a P/J configuration) I know these can be carefully (extremely carefully, I know) reattached to the solder blobs in the eyelets, but the trouble is, I don't know which lead goes in which eyelet I read somewhere that the pos lead goes in the eyelet containing the end of the pickup winding and the neg lead attaches to the eyelet where the winding begins, but I can't tell the difference with this pickup. Is there some way of deciphering which is which with a meter? Does it actually matter which goes to which? Aghhh...! (Help)

Fender, without doubt. Versatile, reliable, always the bass I come back to. Like others have said, it's like coming home I've no doubt Fodera make wonderful basses, but the all rounder, that started it all, wins for me.
