1. There will be more next year Dean One more gig in Leeds this Thursday at the O2 Academy. Martin, it was great to meet you at the Manchester gig; you'll be pleased to know my shoulder is much better now (was in agony at the gig!!)
2. Just bought a P bass harness from Paul. Absolutely no probs, top guy to deal with, nuff said!
3. Hello Trace I swapped my 4 x 10 for this 18 a few weeks back. Looks like GUI just hasn't updated this thread
4. this is an absolute beauty!!
5. Kim, you can't go wrong with Dave's (OBBM's) cables High quality and excellent service, well recommended!
6. Wow, what a fascinating bass!! Very interesting indeed. All the best with the sale
7. These posts are making me want my old bass back lol. Great to hear about Geert using it as a "go to" bass in the shop. Having owned this I totally understand why. Whoever buys this will love it.
8. KGB in Birkenhead mate, your neighbourhood Based in the Pacific Road Arts Centre. http://www.kgb-music.co.uk/ Heard they're not cheap but do a good job; surely someone will have already suggested them to you though....?
9. Cheers mate, those might do the job I think, thanks
10. Hello all Any idea where I could get hold of some of these, the L shaped bits of metal that hold the drivers in on Trace cabs (circled in pic) - No sign of them on British Audio Service... Has anyone got any going spare...?
11. This was mine until recently. Excellent quality bass, sounds like a much more expensive one! Only traded with Ad because I was after another older BB that did passive. Lovely active tones from this though! Adam is a top bloke to deal with too.
12. Adam is a total gent to deal with. I've just traded Yamahas with him and it was a smooth transaction throughout. He was even gracious enough to offer my hard case back to me! This is the type of BC'er we all want to deal with Hope to do business again, cheers Ad
13. This programme was excellent!! Some of my favourite music of all time. Definitely cool to see Joe osborn, the genius behind the scenes. Just when I was beginning to question the need for a telly, given all the crap that is broadcast, something great like this comes on
14. Give me a shout if you need a hand with it. I did used to play it in standard tuning before I found out about the tone up thing. It can be done but is probably a bit Easier in the F# tuning. Medium gauge strings make tuning up a tone a lot easier, as there is less tension.
15. Nice one. Always good to meet other BC'ers!
16.
Wish I had your job! You doing any gigs in Manch?
Yeah, as I always say, it's a privilege to play these songs! We're on tour at the moment and play The Ritz in Manchester on 26th of this month, doing the whole of the QUEEN IS DEAD album, as well as a set of other Smiths stuff.
17. Andy (Rourke) played his bass a tone up (F#) back in the day. So the opening F# note is on the 2nd fret of the D string, if that makes sense? I play with a Smiths tribute and take two basses out with me, one tuned a tone up, for this and most of the other older songs and one tuned in standard tuning. "miserable" is one hell of a bassline! The double stop chords towards the end of each verse are awesome. (the "why do I give valuable time" section etc)
18. Yours was the one with the EMG on it wasn't it Garry? I was considering yours before I came across this beauty on ebay. It's tough letting go of some basses innit, they're like ex girlfriends; but sometimes you're glad to see the back of them! :-)
19. Vintage Yamahas rule mate, nuff said! All the best with it
20. Hi chaps Just a quickie to announce our tour which is starting in Liverpool this Friday 28th October. Celebrating the 25th anniversary of The Queen is Dead, we'll be playing the album in its entirety, as well as a set of other Smiths classics. Playing throughout November up and down the land. Come along and celebrate the excellent work of the much under-rated Andy Rourke
21. I've just bought Pete's Bunker PBC fretless 5. Pete was a total gent throughout and it was a pleasure to meet him, lots of time for the bloke, will be keeping in touch. Nice one P
22. Tom drove all the way from Leicester to Liverpool, to buy my Trace Elliot VA350. A top bloke and a pleasure to do business with. Cheers Tom
23. I'm playing with a kate bush tribute next year; it would be nice to have John Giblin's old cab Alas, the lack of funds and logistics stand in my way, but bump all the same....
