Yes, bad luck. However, if it genuinely is from 1976 copies from that time can be good and have their own market. Esp Japanese copies. What are the markings on the electronics under the scratchplate ? Post a photo if poss? LD
Unfortunately, the seller said he'd replaced the pickups in the mid 80's so there not original...

Doh!! That's what I thought... Oh well, I can start Bon fire night early..

Help please... Been sold a fender Precision that is apparently from 1976, headstock has been painted over and the only evidence there is from the neck? Does the following pic make any sense to anyone? Or have I been sold a dud...?

I've never been much of an Overwater fan, but I'm fully converted now!!! That is going to be absolutely stunning!! I've actually got goosebumps for you!
I'm posting some photos of my recently acquired, cocabola fronted Century 3005. These I've shamelessly "relocated" from the Bass Direct website till the weather improves and I get some decent ones done in daylight.
I love this bass, please give in to my porn needs... More details! What are the specs?

Vibrating strings on Headstock
Dr Chocolate replied to Dr Chocolate's topic in Repairs and Technical
Hmm, obvious stuff first, have you wound the string far enough down the post? Does the vibration stop if you press on the portion of the string between the nut and the tuner? Is it just one string, or some/all of them?

is it the strings or the tuners rattling? The strings should be under tension at this point?
It's all the strings and they stop if I hold them down just after the nut, but maybe you're right, the strings could go about a mm lower on all the pegs. Do you think that would be the culprit? -
Whenever I play my main bass the strings on the headstock vibrate and it's really annoying!! I'm currently using a "fretwrap" to try and dull them and I know a "string tree" would probably fix it but I don't want to screw anything into it's beautiful headstock. I did see a fellow bassist have a plastic string tree on a stingray but alas I never got to ask him where he got it from. Has anybody got any ideas where I might get one from?

Didn't Nikki Sixx play a bass like that in the 90's?
-
Exciting times! I presume that's this year

It looks like a piece of Artwork! I'd have that hanging in my front room over the mantle piece (until my mrs got home anyway) Congrats, I hope she plays as nice as she looks?

Some of my favourite bands don't have a bass player Nine Inch Nails and Depeche Mode to name a couple but it still doesn't stop me jamming along to them and enjoying their music.

That is Epic!! I need a little lay down....
Ha ha, thanks man I reckon a fretless will complete the justifiable basses anyway, probably never going to want a 7 string though, bit too big for me, a 3 string might be fun though... Will keep you in mind if they need a holiday Eude
Haha, Butlins for Bass, great idea!
-
She's a stunner, well worth the wait!
-
How's the new gal treating ya?
-
Slight update, not technically a settee, and a proper crappy phone cam pic, but you get the idea. 3 ACGs makes for a very happy Eude, just need one more now to sooth my GAS... Will do a proper photo, on a proper settee soon Eude
Absolutely stunning collection you've got there!!! After your fretless GAS you could get a 3 string and a 7 string to complete the set If ever you get bored of playing them, I know of a good home for them...

Absolutely, there is more to it than just scale length. Personally I love with 33" scale basses, I'm lucky enough to own one (as well as currently having one built by Mr Letts). When I first tried a 33" it felt so natural and I can play it all night without getting "stretchy finger syndrome" If I was 7 foot tall with large oven-mitt hands, I'd probably prefer a 36" horses for courses and all that

'Isn't She Lovely' - Vic Wooten playing in a tent in the rain

What a legend, shame those kids in the front row don't agree -
I own a crafter acoustic bass. It's ok, nothing special therefore I'd get either the Aria or Ibanez depending on your number of string preference. Good luck

Is this quite a new feature?! (Sandberg Configurator)
