1. As you say - personal preference, but once you've decided i'd go to the basses for sale section on this very forum. Some superb instruments at realistic prices from knowledgable and dedicated people who share the common interest. Personally i'd be looking for a MIA standard P or J. A 2010 model on would be a good option due to the upgrades/quality control improvements that were introduced then but like I say, it is personal preference. One of the deluxe models (if you like active basses) would also be an option for you to consider. I have a 2009 deluxe jazz and it is superb and very underestimated bass. As such, second-hand prices on these make them something of a bargain

  2. I bought 2 of the HD 2 X 10 cabs from Mark earlier this year and stuck a GB STL9.0 on top. As chris b has said, no difference in sound from the shop to the venue. I use one of the 2 x 10's (8ohm) for rehersals and pair them up for gigs (less lugging around) and the 2 x 10's are more manageable than the 4 x 10. Added bonus is more air to push and the rig is taller than the 4 x 10 so closer to my ears. Fantastic set up, really happy with the rig. I've never lifted the HS cabs but believe they were lighter.

  3. Yep......I miss my SR4 so much. I will have another when funds allow. Selling seemed like the 'sensible' idea at the time as it wasn't being used much (my Jazz was my go to bass) and I wanted the cash to upgrade the suspension on my motorbike. Ended up not upgrading the suspension and spent a load more cash on a new EBMM 25TH anniversary 4 string HSS. Damn GAS!!! Brilliant bass and my Jazz is still used but I do miss the Stingray. Also wouldn't mind playing around with a fretless! I spend too much time on the 'for sale' section on here - it can't be healthy!

    That is all.

  4. This http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/YAMAHA-TRB5PII-Immaculate-condition-/130671476626?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item1e6ca07f92

    or this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-TRB5PII-MAPLE-5-string-Electric-Bass-/160733390739?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item256c74e793

I'm not connected with either seller but I used to own one (before I moved back to 4 strings) and they are fantastic basses.

Chris Horton was selling one (as somebody previously mentioned) but I believe that's now been sold.

  5. Hi Hutton,

I have one of these at work and they are brilliant! http://www.csi-produ...city-p-353.html

Fold flat for easy transportation with a fair sized base (as in bass not crass http://basschat.co.u...2-bass-or-base/) for your gear.

    What's not to like

  6. Still gassing for a 4 string version of one of these but funds won't allow just yet. Interested to know from anyone that's owned/played any of the models in the range:
How does it feel on the strap? With the straplock being over the 14th fret instead of the 12th, this will move the position further to the left. Will I need longer arms to reach the low notes?

Which is the best pickup configuration to go for? I'm looking to get as close to a jazz/precision/stingray sound as possible (so that's the H version out then) so is the HH or the HSS version the best to go for?

25th or Reflex (flefleflefleflex)

Maple neck or rosewood?

On the 25th Anniversary which looks best - the flamed or quilted maple finish?

Some of this is subjective, just interested in what others on here think.

Anyone got one up for sale?

Cheers.
7. First impression is that the price looks ok depending upon condition etc. Advertise it on here (there is nowhere better). Take some quality photos, full description (hard case/gig bag included, modifications, damage) and state where you're based. Reason for selling can also help. Be prepared to post. It should cost less than 20 quid just make sure it is packaged well. In the past I have been to Halfords to cadge an old bike box, wrapped well in bubble wrap and used both parcelforce & UPS without any issues. Oh, and be prepared for trade offers :)

Best of luck with the sale
