  3. I will soon be doing some home recording with a guitarist friend, so i need to buy a DI box. I want to keep it simple, i am happy with the tone from my bass without the need for added eq etc, so i need some suggestions for a good DI unit to do the job. My bass is passive, so from what i have read online that means i need an active DI. I have looked at the Radial J48, but that does not work off batteries, and we are recording direct into my friends recording console and not through a mixing desk. I have also looked at a few Di units from BBE sounds which look ok. I know the Sansamp bass driver is pretty much most peoples favourite, but it just looks too busy for me! Any suggestions?

  4. SOLD

Markbass micromark 50watt bass combo £280. Cash only, no trades.

This combo is approx 8 months old (bought April 2011) Condition is excellent, supplied with custom made padded cover worth £40.

Awesome sound from such a small combo. Used for home practice only, selling as i am looking to join a band soon, so may need to upgrade to a larger amp.

Willing to post, would prefer collection, prepared to drive to meet buyer within a 30 mile radius of my home postcode(BB18 5JS) for a fee of 10p per mile.

This combo is also listed on ebay at a higher price in order to cover final value fees.

[quote name='basswarrior66' post='1374949' date='Sep 15 2011, 10:13 PM']This Markbass Micromark is less than 6 months old. I bought it new in April this year to use as a home practice/recording amp as i had given up on the gigging side of things.

However i have now been persuaded to join a band again, and so need something larger for a full band rehersal and possible future gigs.

The sound and volume produced from this amp are amazing given its size, and as a recording amp it sounds as good as anything i have heard.

The amp will be supplied with a free padded protective cover.

Current retail price is around £430. I have it listed on ebay for £330 + £10 postage. Will consider any serious offers.

  7. Just found out that the gear i am hoping to buy for a home/pc recording project is not as expensive as i first thought, therefore any offers above £150 will be considered.
[quote name='basswarrior66' post='1010031' date='Nov 2 2010, 08:45 PM']Due to 2 hernia operations in the last 9 months i had to stop gigging and i sold my bass speaker cabs. I kept the amp in the hope that i would eventually get back to gigging again soon, and would buy a lightweight speaker cab when the time came. However, i am still some way off fully recovered so it seems pointless keeping the amp any longer as it has now not been used for over 4 months. The amp was bought new in January this year, the ebay link is,

  9. [quote name='basswarrior66' post='946014' date='Sep 5 2010, 11:36 AM']Bought new approx 8 months ago, hardly used, selling due to no longer able to gig so setting up pc based home studio.

Not sure how i managed to get two photos on there, but to save any confusion, there is only one amp for sale!

  11. I am hoping to do some recording straight to PC using the Audacity software.
This is just an experiment at the moment so i dont want to be spending too much money initially.
I need a USB port/cable which will work with bass.
I have seen the AxePort Pro which looks ideal but i think i should experiment with something less expensive first, just in case i do not get to grips with PC recording.
Behringer have a product called UCG102, but i am not convinced this is for bass as all the spec seems to be related to guitar amp software plug ins. Alesis make a USB cable but again not sure of its compatibility with bass.
Does anyone know of any other reasonable priced products suitable for bass?

  12. I have just bought a small PA speaker to use for home practice with my Ampeg Micro VR amp. I notice there are 2 speakon inserts on the back of the speaker, i am not sure if one is an input and the other an output for linking another speaker or if they are both inputs? My amp has 2 8ohm outs, there seems to be no difference in the speaker volume if i use one or both connections. The manual is not very informative and as i have previously only used a combo i am not familiar with using speaker connections. I realise that this is a PA speaker and not a specific bass cabinet but not sure if there is a difference between the two regarding how they connect to an amp.

  13. I think it was me who sold it to you on evilbay, and how i regret it. I was desperate to raise some money at the time to buy a new amp, now my band has broke up and i have been searching desperately for another of these units, thats how i noticed this post when i did a google search. I love the fact that the controls are all inside the unit so once you have found a setting you like there is not so much temptation to mess with it.
The sheet i sent with it was something the Tech 21 support team sent me when i enquired about a manual for it, i too was puzzeled by the phontom power info, i assumed it was becouse i was not using it with a suitable mixing console.
If you ever decide to sell it, please get in touch.

  14. I am wanting to do some basic home recording of my bass playing into a Tascam portastudio.
I am undecided what to use between my bass and the Tascam. My shortlist is,
    Sansamp bass driver DI,
    Sansamp VT bass,
    Line 6 floor pod.
Does anyone have any advice as to which of the above would be best.
    Thanks.

  15. Hi and welcome from a fellow newbie.
What part of Canada are you from? I have family in Hamilton, Ontario and have seen some great live music in the Hess Village area of Hamilton when over to visit.

  16. Hi, i finally got some time to introduce myself on here.
I have been playing for around 6 years, unfortunatly i can not honestly remember why i chose bass, i wish i could say its becouse of hearing a certain bassline or something similar, but whatever it was that led me to play bass i have no regrets and have made friends with some great people in recent years.
My bass hero is Billy Sheehan, whose playing i first came across on Dave Lee Roths "Eat em and Smile" album. I have been privaliged to meet Billy several times over the last few years and must say he is a great ambasador for bass playing, always generous with his time and willing to answer any questions.
I play in a Bradford based Rock/Grunge/Indie covers band called "Rulers Of Tomorrow". We have played a few small gigs, including some support slots for the number 1 Thin Lizzy tribute band "Limehouse Lizzy".
We are now looking for more gigs as a support band (we only have about 50mins of material rehersed) so if anyone out there plays in a band and need a support act please get in touch.

  17. I got the Micro VR head early this year and recently gigged with it at a 200 person capacity venue with no problems.
I could not afford the matching cab so i am playing through a Laney 4x10 cab.
As a relative novice i also love the simplicty of the control panel, bass, mid and treble. Its so easy with just those options to find a sound you like without spending hours/days/weeks twiddeling around with too many control knobs.
