I'm probably going to regret it but here's my beautiful EBMM StingRay for sale. 3 tone Sunburst (I think they call it Vintage Sunburst?) with RW fingerboard. 3 band EQ. According to serial number database it's an early 2000. Condition: Bass is in very good condition with just a few superficial hair thin buckle scratches at the back that you can only see against the light (no way for camera to catch it) and couple of tiny rushes right above the scratchplate (about 2mm by 10mm) which again can be only seen against the light from a close up. Another thing is that some time ago I was trying to attach a thumb rest by supergluing it to the scratch plate (idiot ). It was a mistake and I removed it but some of the plastic is still attached to it, close to the pickup corner. If you're really anal you could buy a new scratch plate but I know you won't as it doesn't effect the playability and it's visible only on very close investigation. All in all the bass looks like new at the first glance Link to the pics: Sound: 100% StingRay, just like on the first album of Rage Against The Machine. Full, punchy, growly - you name it. Cuts through the mix like through a butter. You'll always hear yourself on stage. I'm not sure is it up to the maturing of the wood or different way they make them new ones (I had try a couple last week) but they just don't sound or feel as good as mine. Here is a clips: I don't have the hard case anymore as I sold it foolishly with OLP bass that I previously own, so I would prefer cash on collection (from London E5) which would give you a chance to "try before you buy". Of course if you're i.e. in Scotland and you're dying to buy it I could try to find a box for it or buy the hard case. SOLD! I've already sold some gear on BC so please check my feedback
There is no excuse to not be able to change some tone with technique, I agree, but I don't see any harm with dropping the treble and boosting the mids...that is what it is there for...to change things a little. Having small changes to your onboard bass EQ won't make a massive difference unless you crank the bass...the crowd/etc won't notice a thing. The Sandberg EQ has got a lot to live upto for me because I personally think the Musicman EQ is the best onboard EQ I've used. Simple and effective, even on the 4 band versions.
+1 I add a touch of bass on my Stingray's EQ but except that mids are my main use. I play in 90's alternative rock and grunge covers band so if I need to play RATM, Chilli Peppers or Tool I boost the mids but then for Smashing Pumpkins or Incubus I need to turn mids down for the softer sounds. EQ on the amp does not do the same. As for Sandbergs - 3 band EQ cost extra. I read alot about them in last few days and love to play one (California VM) but no one stock them in London
This is a Great amp people! Go on you know you want it! And Paul is a total trustworthy guy. What more could you want?
+1. Huge sound and light as a feather. Compared to my MarkBass R500 - more bottom end, more transparent. The only thing is that my R500 sounds better distorted, but if you play just clean - go for it!
Haha no dude it's cool What are you going to go for as your next cab?
I'm thinking about Epifani 310UL or UL212... Something light and compact as I D.I. into our P.A. Last night I played a gig on my CL108 for the last time.. I set the volume to 9 o'clock (about 20%) and I can hear on the video that I was way to loud As much as I loved that "fridge" I doubt I'll play @ Wembley any time soon
Well I'm glad to hear you don't need to get rid of it now dude good to know its gonna be getting played too!
Yes Chris, it's played now and it sounds great But there is a new problem on the horizon - instead of a van we have Nissan Almera to transport our gear... so yet again I'm looking to down size.. So here it is people - grab a bargain before I change my mind again £650 o.n.o. or a swap for a light weight (Epifani 310UL maybe?) Peace!
