  1. Can't believe their career pinnacle hasn't been mentioned.
  2. Looking back he was brilliant for me. I'd ask to learn a song and he say no. He'd have me clapping to metronome, playing octaves against bass and snares in odd times. Spelling out extended chords. Non of the stuff I wanted to, but stuff I was really grateful for years later.
  3. It was 'Another Brick in the Wall' Not by choice. I had bass lessons for a year. The teacher was a jazz fusion guitarist but could play bass. He taught it me, then basically solo'd over it whilst I kept playing it. So used me as a backing track essentially.
  4. Love it. Bonkers. Right up my street that!
  5. I might join in the next one if I can get any inspiration from the picture. Couldn't this month.
  6. Brilliant. Ministry vibes but funky!
  7. Thank you very much. Hopefully I'll be back now I have more time and some reliable gear. Tbh I've only listened to this track through the headphones I mixed it on. Hopefully it sounds all right and not too trebley or bassy. I'll have to remix if so.
  8. Hi I started a new job in September and got an iPad has part of the job. So I downloaded garageband for it. I'd never used it before. I'd been listening to the original transformers and Rocky 4 sound track a fair bit at the time, Vince DiCola. So I thought I'd do something in the style of that. The original plan was to put some real instruments on it but as things panned out I could only afford the interface and other things now which I got at Xmas. By then I'd finished the piece. So I've just mixed and mastered it the last couple of days. Here it is https://on.soundcloud.com/229xNnWTCEDz6HpY9
  9. I bought a focusrite scarlett solo to do some recording on garageband and a lightning usb adapter. Turns out I need a powered usb hub too for it all to work. Sonive just ordered one of them.
  10. Nah, certain chords higher up the neck are slightly out, its not massive. That's why that true temperament fret thing was invented. Bit pedantic tho for me. I like a tuning wobble, timing and tempo wobble. It's what gives you the magic.
  11. I saw another post mentioning Van Halen tuning. I think I read Eddie saying he just tuned up to himself then the bass player tuned to him. That's why it was never exactly E. I think I varies a but on the first two albums. He also tuned it so certain chords would sound more in tune. Think there is a Rick Beato vid on it
  12. I agreed with you. Just the pointless fannying around would be enough to turn me off.
  13. That's the spirit!😅
  14. Robert Plant at Liverpool Philharmonic in March. Unreal gig
  15. I can beat that, I was fired from a band i wasn't even in!
  16. Cheers, thanks a lot
  17. Hi, As the title says. Does anyone know of a decent but inexpensive audio interface for Ipad, lightning input. Just want to record some bass and guitar into garageband. Cheers
  18. Only listened to that first one. Derivative or not it's a good tune. Interesting guitar part. Enjoyed it. Derivative is a sliding scale anyway. Most stuff is to some extent.
  19. I've, once again, sanded it back. This time to 180. Gonna try the wudtone again this week. Wish me luck
  20. 😆 it bloody better be
  21. Update in the longest build ever. I sanded it down to 40, then back up to 240. Bought a new Wudtone finish. Did the first coat, yet again, it didn't take. E mailed Wudtone they said try at 180. So I've sanded it back to 40. I'm gonna bring it back to 180. I'm so pissed off its untrue. I've got a feeling that it won't take again. I bought the kit from pitbull. The bodies in their kits aren't suppose to be sealed or treated. This was a custom order and I think it must have been as its just not taking the oil. There seems to be a shine in certain parts of the wood and I've been down to 40 grit twice now. If it doesn't take this time it's being sprayed with Molotow spray paint.
  22. Does anyone know ow anything about random orbital Sanders? I used at 40 grit to remove the finish and it seemed fine. I had a go with 80grit today and it doesn't seem to be doing anything. Hardly any dust coming off the sandpaper on it doesn't seem like it's been used thought I've gone over the body lots of time. I'm essentially using the weight of the machine. If you put too much pressure it stops spinning. I've tried it on fast speed and slow. Doesn't seem to be doing anything. Any advice would be welcome Cheers
  23. Think I'm gonna go with the surf green. Gonna try and get it sanded to 240 over the week
  24. It's going to take forever to get all the last flecks of finish out of the grain so I've spoken to Wudtone. If I use a pigment dye, once I get most of the finish off, that will cover over the previous. So I'm gonna go with one of these Not sure which yet. Does anyone have any advice on contour sanding the edges? it would have to be hand sanded.
