2.
If you want to come down a day earlier I'm playing with Kit at The Finsbury on the 24th, not far from Camden mate, you know about the 31st already
I would love mate but i have to travel with all the bands gear. The date for rehearsal has changed and it ain't til monday. So i'm travelling with the bands gear on Sunday.
 3.
What we really wanted was a Mime!
A mime is a terrible thing to waste!
 4. I'm playing at the Hackney Empire in a musical between 30th Jan and 1st Feb but i will be down all week from the 25th for rehearsals. the band and i will be looking for things to do at night whilst down there so just wondered if any of you were gigging. I may be in Manchester on 26th and 27th for a gig but will def be there 25th, 28th,29th. And if any of you are playing after 10pm on 30th, 31st we will try to get to some.
 5.
Not being funny but have you looked in to any of the many Squier threads on here yet? I'd have though there was already more than enough info about the current Squier's on here already to give you the answer you are looking for.
I like interaction. quicker this way too!
 6.
Lord, are you helping him choose one in a shop? I ask because from what I've read on BC, not all VMs are good right from the factory, whereas the CVs reportedly can be bought unseen. CV is more expensive than VM though. The Affinitys I've seen locally were slightly shoddily put together, and I did not have the knowledge to judge them. You could though, so if you're helping him you could find him an Affinity - which is clearly cheaper than a VM. That or used of course, in which case it has already been said above. FWiW, I have three CVs (two 50s Ps and a 60s J), and to noob me they seem perfect or near perfect. A real bassist played my 60s Jazz, and was more impressed with that than with my lim.ed. Bongo.
cheers Bert, I'll probably go with him So thanks for the heads up on VM's.
 7. I play sitting down on the show I'm on. I use ESP-LTD list below. I have no problems at all with comfort with it. Don't use straps as i'm sitting down.
 8. A guitarist friend of mine is going to buy a bass for home recording. He asked for advice. I said i heard Squier did some good basses in his price range. But i know very little about them. Can anyone recommend a good un? Cheers

 10.
That's my lead singer and cousin playing Simon. He played Jesus in Adelaide and Sydney whilst Ben was unwell, to really good acclaim as well. We did the aftershow party in Liverpool on the last leg of the UK tour, we ended up playing with Tim Minchin for about 4 hours onstage. Top guy, Chris Moyles even got up and ended up playing drums with us, but we were just about destroyed by then! The Oz tour was Phil Mulford on bass who is just unreal. Not sure about the UK tour because I know Phil couldn't do it. Ben was cracking as Jesus and another lovely chap.

Wow that's all pretty impressive! Your cuz is terrific!
I can confirm that Liam's 'cuz', rory, is incredible. He just delivers the goods night after night. Never out of tune regardless of quality of monitor mix. It's effortless too. Also he is a top, top bloke. Not a hint of arrogance etc. Great singer as Liam is a great bass player. Their band played the RENT aftershow.....blew me away. With regards to the JCSS pads i did the show for a pro theatre company in the 90's, that went on to do the original RENT tour, I was 17. The pads are pretty involved but great to play. We got a couple of weeks rehearsal. However, the RENT tour i've done/doing. We got a band call then 2 days rehearsal then on the road.
 11. Well, whilst wet-sanding the finish to get ready for buffing I've gone through to the clearcoat a small amount on a couple of edges. Gutted! Not sure what to do. May just f*** it off indefinitely. Don;t know if i can be arsed with the expense of doing all the body again. Don't think i have the knowledge or skills to fix it without have to strip it back and do it again. I wanted it ready for the end of Jan for a tour. Don't think i will make this deadline so i have lost a lot of the desire to do it.
 12. I'd have to say Led Zep. Think of all the women and drugs. I'd get John Paul Jones to dep for me overnight. ;-)
 13.
Try and find a great drummer called Bozo, then you could have the complete set.
ha ha. I've played with quite a few bozo's over the years.
 14.
It only takes 30 minutes, costs under a fiver and is well worth doing. The bass will still work and sound good without it. It will work and sound better with it, I feel.
Thanks a lot mate. for both threads ha ha!
 15. So i have to spray the cavity with some shielding paint then?
 16. I'm doing my first build/ refin. In the thread i'm doing someone has said i need conductive paint or copper foil for the control cavity so that the pick ups won't humm. I've asked is this the same thing as a wire that goes from the jack thru the body to the bridge? But i've ye to receive an answer. thought i'd try my luck in here! Can anyone help?
 17. Does the wire from the jack thru the body to the bridge do the same thing?
 18. Do you mean like a copper wire that runs from the jack socket through the body to the bridge? Bear in mind this is my first attempt at any thing like this coming from a starting point of zero knowledge.
 19.
Do you have conductive shielding paint handy for the cavities?
What?
