To me the Thumb looks more like an Ovangkol body and a three piece wenge neck. Which is what it would be if it were a standard bolt on model of that era. It's not a custom shop model, is it?
You could be right about the neck, but the body is definately striped Bubinga (the wood has a lot more of a "red" to it in real life than in the pictures, also i have compared the bass with my friends ovangkol thumb and the wood structure/colour and sound is a whole lot different to the ovangkol one) this is definately the wood of the body: http://www.warwick.de/modules/custom_shop/options.php?TYP=WOODS&submenuID=14620&katID=14627&cl=EN It's not a custom order model but the bubinga body used to be an option back in the day as there were a lot of "not so standard" thumbs being made in that period. If you check the warwick forum you can find some posts that explain the different wood combinations that were used for some basses of "the standard line" in that transition period as they were already experimenting with alternate woods for the necks and bodys , but still had some "old stock" woods that they were also trying to get rid of.. this bass would be a step between the older Bubinga pomele bodys and the newer ovangkol bodys. (that's also the reason why i was thinking the neck is also a combination of the darker wenge and the lighter ovangkol as that transition was made in the same period) Anyway, i've already tried a lot of thumbs in the last two years and this always triked me as " the best" as it has seems it has the best of 2 worlds, for one it has less neck-dive problems as the other thumbs i'v tried and also the neck is more stable and easyer to play than the newer thumbs i've tried. To be honest i would be really sad to see this go and i'm actually hoping that i can free some funds for a fretless by selling other stuff so i can keep this one in my collection.

The going rate for postage to France should be around 25-30GBP uninsured and between 35-50GBP fully insured. I've had good expieriences with both DPD and regular mail (DHL is good but way too expensive) & if you live near a big dealership (Bass direct / Bass gallery /..) they can usualy pack and ship it for you with the rest of their orders for a small fee. I've shipped basses from the U.K. to Belgium (same area/price as France) and the other way around and they all arived save and sound within 3 working days.

Hi, i have to brand new Aguilar GS112 cabs (one with tweeter, one without tweeter) that i would love to trade for 1 or 2 Barefaced cabs. These Aguilar GS cabs are a perfect match for the TC Electronic classic450/RH450/RH750 (check talkbass for raving reviews about this cab+ amp combo) only reason i'm planning on repalcing them is the need for a more powerfull amp & cab combination now i've just started in an extremely loud rock/metal band. you can find more info and loads of pictures of the Aguilar cabs in my for sale/trade topic here on this forum. let me know what you think -
I have a 900 witha fried power supply?
fried power suply?? how the heck did you do that?? The only way i think i might be able to fix that is by replacing the fried power suply with the one of my streamliner 600, but in that case the str.600 would be worthless... might be something worth thinking about it tho IF you're dumping the broken str.900 for a cheap price... let me know what you had in mind. regards, Don.

Bassdude BE replied to paulbkeeves's topic in Basses For Sale
Intrested in a trade with a set of mint Aguilar GS112 cabs? 1 of the cabs (the one without a tweeter) i just 2 months old , is hardly ever used and has never left the house, the other cab (with tweeter) is a few weeks older and has been used more but is also still in excellent condition. Only used these to play at home or for the ocasional jam, but now my band is back in busines i'm looking to replace them with heavier cabs with a higher power-ratio anyway and i'd love a 5string P so a trade would be nice.. (could also ad a bit of cash to the deal) more detailed pictures here: https://picasaweb.go...GenzBenzAguilar# kind regards, Don. -
