5.
***Harp glissando*** .....as we are transported back to the 80s, where I used to wear a German jet pilot's overall, cartridge belt around the waist, a silver bow tie made from the left over stuff they stamp sequins out from, bright orange fluorescent streaks in the hair, and black glitter infused nail polish. On stage I wore an M&S blazer and a pair of beige Burtons slacks.
So you dressed down a bit for stage?
 6.
It's also possible to survive having a hot poker stuck up yer arse
You're not doing it right. Strangely, there is no red hot poker up the bum smiley..
 7. Never had any problems with Thomann.
 8.
Some blind people enjoy music too and some blind musicians do quite well.
We should all dress up to give the deaf people something to enjoy.
 9. Me.Because I'm the biggest.
 10. I think that as musicians ( can of worms there..) we tend to concentrate on the musical side of live performances, and it's easy to forget that's not how the non musician approaches a live performance.
 11. The sound is in my head, but it's fairly close to the one that JJ Burnell put there..
 12.
So if we look at this logically, captain... It would seem that in an audience there will be some people who dont care how you look, and some people who like to see some groovy clothes and moves. Ergo, if you dress up a bit and throw a few shapes you will please the majority of the audience. That's my theory anyway. :-)
Depends how many musicians are in the audience.
 13. Damn...I was hovering over the Buy it Now button until I realised it had a rosewood fretboard..
 14.
I'd say they'd made quite a bit of an effort, what with stealing your dad's gardening clothes and all.
He was wondering where his muddy spandex had gone.
 15. It's not just you.I hate Rotosound with a passion.
 16.
BRX is dead right. I've said it before, and I WILL say it again. In popular music, most people SEE music before they HEAR it. Music is much more a lifestyle choice than an art choice. It's very important that the 'listener' identifies with the artist or band. That can be superficial or pretty deep. But that connection MUST be made by the audience if the artist is to be successful. Anyone who thinks their success is dependent on the quality of their music is seriously way off beam, and kidding themselves. When you have a reputation, you can then exploit the quality and lifestyle values of your music, until then it's all image and attitude, unless you only want to be liked by other musicians.
Damn right. If I go to see a band (yes, see) then I expect to be entertained. If the band have walked on stage wearing the same clothes that my dad wears doing the gardening then I'm likely to think they can't be bothered to make an effort.Likewise,if I'm on stage then I make an effort to look like I'm making an effort...Being the sole moving focal point in a 3 piece band means I do stuff other than stand still and play.
 17.
I'm quite happy that a lot of people don't get it. A lot more influential to my generation of players (and his peers at the time/slightly after) than is generally accepted.
This..
 18.
. Me- I'm getting too old for all the girls that would undoubtedly THROW themselves at me .
Never too old for that....Too married, maybe, but never too old...
 19.
... 'gigs where people pay to get in, sound, lighting, security, bar staff, EVERYONE gets paid except the band'
Can't say I've encountered that,if there's an entry fee then bands can expect a cut.
 20.
but bar staff generally cant play music and a gig is about music not shifting beer, or maybe i've got it all wrong
Ermmmm.....Yes,you have....Mostly.
 21. Apparently Andrew Eldritch played all the instruments on Floodland.Youtube the Gun Club's Death Party to see Herself in action.
 22. I'm led to believe she didn't play sod all with the Sisters. Her work with the Gun Club is excellent.
 23. It's a question of assessing the financial cost against the benefits. My gig last night ( technically not a free one,I got paid a tenner) didn't put cash in my pocket, but I had a great time, met some new friends, made some new connections.
 24.
that's what pisses me off, why should muso's be considered bottom of the pile? my gig expenses are way higher than any sound, lighting, security persons
You're not doing it right.....
