2. I met quite a few Famous Rock Stars in Monmouth when I was little,Rockfield studio is sadly missed.
3.
Unless you happen to be Dee Dee of course!
The Man himself! Shame about the haircut.
4. Black works on anything.
5.
4 Chords? Bloody pretentious prog-rock musos... You only need 2 (and just play them louder for the chorus)!
2? You're not trying hard enough.1 is perfectly sufficient.
6.
There is a suggestion of radius on mine – not much but it's there. Might be a difference between fretted and unfretted necks - mine's fretless. And genuinely no neck dive. Might be the wide strap I've always used with it though.
Mines fretted. And left handed. I have serious problems with neck dive, but that may be due to the below the gonads position I play.
7. Just to complicate things, I'm right handed playing lefty. Right handed instruments just feel utterly wrong and I can't play them. I believe Jimi Hendrix had the same problem.
8. And on the left we have......Yours Truly from a few decades ago playing a white Precision. Although my current stage weaponry is a black one with a mirror scratchplate.
9. No neck dive? Mine thumps the floor as soon as I look at it. Also as previously mentioned, the flat radius fingerboard is an aquired taste.
10. DR's and D'Addarios for me. I think I've made my feelings clear on Rotosounds by now..
11. I'm not up to date on contemporary drum machines, but if you're happy with second hand, I suggest a Boss DR 660.
12. Not really. Still happy with Fender Precisions. Although I've always fancied a Stingray. I always wanted a Thunderbird until I got one.
13. Also flat radius fingerboards.
14. I have made many, many cables during my PA hire years. I always got the components from Studiospares. And don't forget the Heatshrink over the joints..
15. Discharge's 'Aint no feeble bastard usually does the job for me.
16.
Before anyone else gets the chance... A... what? What does one use that for? [/ Runs off quickly]
Makes it go faster.
17. There's much praise for HH amps on the forum. This one is an '80's one, from the range that replaced the classic VS Musician range. It will do the job nicely, and it's a bit more than £40 now..
18. Personally I find short scale basses easier to play, but I have yet to find one that sounds as good as a 34" scale.
19.
It's always sounded the same and it's a sound that suits me, but not everyone else since I play mostly reggae. Am I the only member of this forum still playing the same bass after 30 odd years?
No.I bough my cheap second hand 78 Fender P in 1981.(The one I'm using on the left) Does it sound the same? I think so, but I'm not using the same amp or string brand, so it's impossible to judge. (Anyone else remember Daddario XL Reds? lovely..).It does, however, sound the same as the less cheap vintage 78 Fender P I bought in 1996.
20.
1: Weight - the replacement body is solid maple and the bass weighs 10.5lbs.
This may have something to do with it's tone..
21. I've had more than a few H/H amps and combos over the years, and the only reason I got rid of the last one,a VS Musician head with a 2 x 15 cab,is it wasn't loud enough.Hence the Peavey mk.6.
22.
Gaye Advert
Oh yes.
23. Oh my....The Domestic Authority has advised me that a re-mortgage is not going to happen.Ah well.
24. Fenders, ( well,Precisions, those "Jazz" things are too complicated for me..) are the Transit van of the bass world. There are alternatives that may suit individuals better, but you can rely on it to get the job done.Plus,as you can see on the left, they make me look cool as f*ck.
