Change brands? DR have had some quality control issues recently.

You could do what I did,get some synths and make nasty powernoise. Or,take some time out,practice,learn theory and look for a new band.But don't rush it or you could end up in the same situation.

Every Bassist should use an Ampeg 8 x 10 at some point.There are more practical cabs,but it's an Ampeg 8 x 10!

More than a few Brass players..I started playing trumpet,then Bb cornet,then the Sex Pistols happened and brass bands lost their appeal. I never had any interest in instruments other than Bass,although I have been known to dabble with synths from time to time.

I have always played sober,and frankly,I think anyone who is not at their best as a result of intoxication is doing their audience - and themselves - a disservice.I have played the odd gig speeding my t*ts off,but that's a whole different topic.

1978.Kay gibson EB copy. £40 from Woolworths,I bought it because it was broadly symmetrical and therefore easy to restring and play left handed.Awful awful thing with an action you could stick your fingers under.It may well still be in my parents loft.Replaced by a Columbus P copy which wasn't much better, but was at least left handed and looked the part.Which is definately in my loft.

Ampeg SVT2P is my studio rig.No idea how much they go for,though.

I don't practice moves as such,but I'm very conscious that as the sole moving focal point on stage people are looking at me,and I do end up pulling rock star poses.Fortunately there is a mirror in our rehersal studio.And my bedroom....
