Think it might be the more bespoke components and smaller (pardon the pun, I'm only 5 foot 6 myslef) target audience that could be preventing this happening for now, most of the Squier range share parts with sibling models in some way or another. I bet the Mustang style pickup is one of the biggest hurdles, but if they replaced it with something else, would it still be a Mustang?... If they did pull it off, it might end up too expensive Love the look of those Vista Musicmasters, very nice! Eude
I don't see the pickup being an issue. The bronco has the same style pickup, but with put visible magnets, and in the CV 50s P they use the small single coil used in mustangs/musicmasters. I guess there just isn't a Market as of yet.

£500 do you mind second hand? There is a barefaced COMPACT (1x15) in the forsale section at £330 In reality its going to be a lot louder and in some cases lighter than alot of what has been suggested. Or then again you could get a brand new one from Alex, or a brand new Midget for £425 I gig with a single midget and in some rooms its impeccably loud, even next to our loud drummer.
Just what I was going to say. My analogy is that B.B King can put more "feel" into one note then a metal band can put into a whole song. This is just my way of thinking about it.
IMO feel is as subjective as anything else. Your dad probably doesnt "feel" it, but have you tried playing to anyone else. They might feel it ten fold... maybe. Brookesy's comment is perfect. He doesnt feel metal music, where as a hardcore metal fan probably does. If you think of music as telling a story, some people will understand it and some people just dont. Same way I dont understand Dubstep.

I think my amp needs checking over
Prime_BASS replied to Prime_BASS's topic in Repairs and Technical
A few things to check: Are you using an active bass with a dead (or almost dead) battery? Have you replaced guitar and amp<>cab leads? If it's not any of those then I'd hazard a guess that you have a dead preamp valve in your Markbass LMTube 500.
Yeah ive checked everything else. I dont know about the valve going, it was only made march 2010, and preamp valves tend to last longer than 9 months, and the fact the farting happens when it's in solid state mode aswell makes me think it's not that. I'll check the battery in my bass but that's been in there for just over a month. But it also happened with a passive baritone guitar (all though not as much) It seemed fine today however, im still going to get it checked. If it turns out it's dud, I'll be buying a F500 or GB shuttle 9.0 Such a shame I really love the sound of this amp. -
I pickup up my bass to my daily niggle to some tunes, as I do every day. Only today the rug was making terrible farting noises when any of the strings where plucked really hard, but not when slapping or popping. The fart noise is similar to clipping noise it makes, but the amps clip light wasn't coming on(I'd not changed it since I last used yesterday) I turned it down some notches anyway, and the noise was still there. I reset all the setting on my bass and amp, too work back up to get the input gain right, still farts. I shifted the preamp nob to SS and Tube, it did it on both. After a process of ilimination it's either my lead, or the amp head. If it turns out it is the amp, how the hell did this happen, I used it not 2 days ago quite loud an it was fine then, my only guess is something during the input or output stage has fried. It's a Markbass LMTube500, I know Fuzz in Nottingham sell MB gear but other than them I dont know where to go? Thanks

I've had this with a few sets, and on guitars, it seems to be the G string doing it. Check that the string is making contact with the nut properly. Could also be the break angle between the nut and tuning post.

Our company's prices decreased end of August due to bad sales figures, then after a period of increased sales prices gone up an average of £2 on each meal on the menu. Now cause of the VAT increase they are set to go up again soon. Especially as we are now going from a 2for£10 pub to Fayre and sqaure.

I trapped my thumb in a door once. Everything from the middle joint up was a human flesh soup, with bone for seasoning. The nail had come off and was held back on with sticky tape. The fleshy parts hung together with bits of tendon and the like and the tip bone thing was pushed back into the rest to join it up again. Doctors told me I was lucky nothing broke as it would have taken years to get the use back into it. However till this day I still strictly extending it and bending it backwards. I was 7 when this happened. Also as I work in a kitchen I'm either cutting myself, burning myself or just general self harming during a normal day. Cuts I can handle cuts and burns while playing, after a while I badly notice the pain. I had something similar to this nail think though once, and after playing I ended up with deep abbesses (sp?) near the base of the nail, after I burst them with a needle and squeezed all the puss out, soaked it in salty hot water with a bit of antiseptic for about 45 minutes and the super glued the bit s of nail that were coming loose. Now I just suffer from blisters on my finger tips.
I've downloaded stuff illegally as have most people, but what the record companies seem to be missing is that if people can get it for nothing they will. Whether they had the intention to buy it in the first place is another matter. I've downloaded albums illegally just to have a listen... I previously had no intention to buy it, so that in my book is not classed as lost revenue. Anyway, I've recently bought the latest Jamiroquai CD without listening to it first... it's great in my opinion and well worth the £9.99 I paid for it. Don't understand why people buy mp3s though? Surely if your ipod or PC crashed and you lost the lot... at least you've got your CDs to fall back on right ??
Just thought point this out. iTunes, Im not sure on other sources, backs up all data downloaded to a server available only by your account. So if the terrible happens, and you buy a new PC/laptop/iPhone/iPad blah blah blah you can sign in and retrieve all that data for free. For me this is great as I have far too many computers and I don't have to buy again everytime or rip a cd on to each computer or laptop. I illegally download stuff I really want to listen to that is pretty much unavailable unless you import it.

The inevitable has happened(insurance issues)
aye a think your footing the bill on this one Stephen. I wouldnt imagine a pub paying up! to tell you the truth im quite suprised you expect someone else to pay if it was your accident.
It was stood on a colapsable one second I turned away next it was falling over, id had a pint an hour before so I wasn't hammered, or even tipsy enough to miss the stand or something. My anger is that I was told we had "band" insurance (which would have covered gear if it was torched or stolen)and it turns out it we hadn't. So I feel a bit miss led. In my anger I justwanted someone to blame. I'd definatly be more pissed if the neck snapped or something, or if it was considerablly more expensive bass. Looks like I'm looking for a reversed schaller BML tuner in chrome, anyone? And gear insurance aswell. Lesson learned, the hard way. -

Ideally I would like a MM branded one, but falling that I'll just get a schaller BML. I'm not to familiar with the structure of these, but it only really needs a new peg so if I can get inside and replace that bit, I get to keep the branded bits. I'll be emailing strings and things though see if what they think. Thanks for the advice. -
I just got back in from a gig. It was a complete utter accident; my bass fell on the floor and the G string tunning peg has completely snapped. I was told by a band mate we were covered by "band" insurance and it covers gear etc. Turns out they never got it, and the venue isn't liable since they told us in a contract we would need the insurance. Now what? Ernieball don't just sell replacements, so for a real deal I would have to send it off, no? And who should be paying for this? I fear myself.... (serves myself right properly)

OLP stingrays - cheap licensed copies, basswood quality issues. Discontinued. Made in the far east Sterling Ray 34/35 - cheapish, far eastern built licensed reproduction models, same spec as standard Stingray, I think they use the same electronics. They are shipped over to the US for final check and setup. SUB bass - Originally retailed for £700+ but now second hand very cheap. Made in California with the same materials as standard stingrays, except uses a slab basswood body. Can be found active or passive, usually with 2 band EQ. Standard Ray - UKdealer provides these with case and limited choice, but you can usually ring up and order any colour with any pickup configuration, and either 2 or 3 band. I think you can choose pickup magnets aswell. Classic - designed to look like Pre-EB rays. Slab bodied, Vintage colours, old style logo, string through, 2 band and Birdseye maple neck, mute pad equipped bridge. There are also Sterling Bass iterations of each series ( except OLP I think ) sterling bass comes with ceramic pickup, split coil switching, 3 band. The body is also smaller, with the neck being slimmer. Opinions don't mean much. I hope that this helps, I could have included other models, Hutu have work lol. If you do want my opinion- I never really rated the OLPs much, I had a guitar with the electronics disintegrated. I do like the cheapness of the Sub basses and how they are US made, but in the end I brought the real deal. My favorite period of stingray production is the early to mid 90s as the came with either the mute bridge or trans bridge, and mostly came with birdseye maple neck.

Yup! Down to the stingray but I have the Big Al coming in Feb, and if I like it's ray impression better than my actual ray then I'll sell it and be a 1 bass guy forever. ..... Then again, maybe not.
OK if I've lumped all the shows together but we have Alexandra Burke, who in my opinion made one of the worst cover versions ever, SuBo with that warbling vibrato who was probably quite good when she belted out a song in her local but not much more, Girls Aloud, that second rate tenor, don't really make for a glowing report card for this unashamed pop music fan.
SuBo was the other show... Sorry. Although I hold the same opinions. I do enjoy a bit if JLS while at work and I am known to have downloaded a few Leona Lewis tracks. This yeah I don't think there is anyone quite as good as Leona Lewis.
This custom headpiece sounds very intriguing. Pics pics pics.
No pics, no bass. This headpiece and finish do sound rather interesting.

I don't like X factor so I don't watch it. I like Ellie G so I don't mind hearing her. I'm always a fan of using a live band aswell.

I've only really noticed a difference with the pro series, in reviews the USA ones don't seem to suffer from QC issues. The pricing thing is ridiculous though, if it's cheaper to make it should be cheaper to buy...

I use the rig in my sig. It copes more than well enough with 200+ in the a 50x30ft hall, tonnes of headroom to spare aswell. Unfortunately it costs money, a lot more than what that micro SVT does.

Did have the MIJ fender version. Excellently built and setup. Sounds: basic passive jazz sounds, mid-range burp/growl. The one thing that I was dissapointed with was the cheapo ceramic pickups. I ended up changing pickups to some fender US 60s and then it does a better impression of the Marcus miller type sound when in active mode. A lot of reviews I've seen complain about the noisy circuit, mine was ok for a few weeks till I changed the battery and then it became very tempremental. I only really sold it as I've gone over the EBMM and I couldn't find a comfortable playing position with it. would of liked to keep it but I've ordered something else.
-
Unless it's come with a fresh set of EB super slinks or DR hi-beams, I play it a while see what happening change the strings to one of the previous then give it a setup, which for me would take a few days....

As per the title. The old band are no longer together and I'd rather keep gigging/playing music. Interested in anything, covers, originals, pub giggers, club fillers, functions, anything. As ling as it's fun not fussed. Styles/genres: I can dabble in just about anything, reggae to metal, as I'm interested in all music. Travel isn't really issue, however I doubt drive but I'm not afraid to fork out for a taxi if needs be. Very punctual (+95% attendance all through school and I'm able to play what you tell me or make something up if that's what's required. Quick learner: if needs be I can learn 10+ songs in a night or 2. Rage covers band would be nice, but like I said I'm up for anything. Pm me here or email me at

I was expecting it to come in green orange and white like old Italian ambulances.
I know, you are right. I've tried out Orange at GAK in Brighton, and love them, I've yet to try Matamp, but their London dealer is not too far from me, so soon as. I realise that its all down to me, but with it involving a not inconsiderable amount of money, its good to get as much ammo as you can
Don't forget matamp are custom ordered, so you could try one that sounds totally different to another. Not got any experience other than with cabs, they are both ridiculously loud and heavy!!!! Who needs this whipping lightweight stuff anyway. Orange in a nutshell (for me) is a one trick pony, but what a trick!!
