Hahaha. Do you double dare me?
Yes I do. It's a geniune ray pickup and pickguard so it may get some kudos "/ I guess you are right that he isn't a total nob. I just wonder if the answer to the posed question would have been so severe if the questioner hadn't mentioned "marketing". I do understand he was a better tester for the ray, and having been beta tester for a number of different video games(not the same thing I know but good example) I know how much or little input you get, for final fantasy XIII the game plays largely different for call of duty it was just glitch finding. There is protecting brand image and then there is being down right untruthful to make sure you make a few quid.

Oranges are hand made in England but never cost more than 2k. These must be amazing!!!

Omg, I knew this would happen. Although I'm surprised at you not liking the ray sound. It makes yourself easier to hear in load mixes which is great if you have some talent but not if you don't, still Mark hoppus got buy with one with a pick, picking 8ths and 16ths. Plus it's the 3EQ so you can dial out the mids if you wanted? Although I'm confused as to year, as it has the old bridge and I don't recall ever seeing a 3eq with that bridge. I'd be buying but it's the wrong colour for me.

I'm gonna slice and dice my SUB, so all that's left is the body and bridge and go show it them. What are they like towards the OLP's? I'm sure they will all claim they are crap repos that don't deserve the 'ernie ball' name on the back.....All though I'm sure they were only pulled cause sales were up against the real deal?

I've seen that cloth over strings technique before, nice sound though, what's the bass?

I woud order sharpish to see if you can get one of the roasted maple necks.

I hold the same feelings as above. I have played a few koruna bodied gibsons, they've all sounded nice, if a little dark but not as dark as mahogany, weighs a bit though. However those basses cry 'homemade' to me, I don't know what it is.

I recon ou7shined should go over their with his Pingray and tell them it's the better than a real Stingray. My god those people are freakish. May just go on and show them the final product of my next project (modded to the hilt SUB) to see what kind of response I get. Who is 'BP' ? What's a roasted neck? (ill look into that thread some more) and why are those guys so up tight? Edit: ok I know the answers now. Man sterling is a dick.... Now I have a valid reason to dislike the sterling basses. Maybe he should spend more time building basses he didn't design than posting on a forum to be a dick to anyone with questions. "lay of the land" and that crap. I'm sorry, what? Just cause your fat ass made a lesser stingray I can't ask a question involving anything about your products not being 100%. Grade A Nob.....rant over.
He has shagged a lot of women, to be fair. They're obviously not interested in his playing.
We'll let him off then. And in regards to Tal wilkenfield. I wouldn't say she is aweful. What some call easy listening, I call boring.

Where's a good place to buy a Black P bass body?
Prime_BASS replied to dave_bass5's topic in General Discussion
If you search eBay for bass bodies there is a shop that sells US made P and J bodies, finished. They are very nice usually 2 or 3 piece alder, I've had one for a project and it was nice and resonant, slightly heavy though, but had a great finish and as it was a Jazz it ha the important clean Neck pickup route to play with out a pickguard. But yes it seems a silly idea to have 2 necks for one bass, I'm postive that eventually the screw holes on the necks would wear away and the screws would stop screwing. IMO you might aswell save for a Japanese fender, quality has always been amazing, and a better pickup and a electronic upgrade brings it to the point of being a lot better than a MIA. If you really wanted a J neck you could buy one and then sell on the P neck. -
I'd put pete wentz on the top of the list. But I'm fairly certain if he actually stood and concerntrated on playing the lines then he can't be that bad, it's just the Fangirls would rather watch him spin around like a knob than hear him play. That's why he sounds crap. Next would have been Mark hoppus: although blink-182 was my first ever "rock" band, I have been witness to his talentless-ness. Although 80% he plays rather well concidering he sings and largly plays without looking at his bass. And to this date carousel is still my favourite bass-line to play, and the song alone has shaped the way I play bass and structure my own basslines. He also writes majority of the material including guitar and bass, so I can forgive him for having an off-day here and there and sometimes a bad sound. I love Tim commerford, but these days he tone is ruining his talent, I preferred him better live when his signal was only dirty due to his ampeg and even then it was nice and cleanish with his Stingray. Rage just doesn't suit a passive jazz.

You are under estimating how much the M-retro choice will eventually cost you, it'll end up costing the VMJ bass brand new, the gallery will have to route for the M-retro to fit and for a battery. You'll be much better with the J-retro. However I think for what you think you will eventually use it for, you'll be better with some kind of EQ/preamp pedal.

Stingray Choice - 2EQ, 3EQ, or Classic (again!)
Prime_BASS replied to Musicman20's topic in Bass Guitars
IMO, a Ray, a P and a J are exactly the tones ive been after since I started listening to the bass guitar. Cannot go wrong with any of them. There is a certain 'feel' and effortless 'ommph' with a Stingray that no other bass can match, and thats why I go back to them. Sometimes the tone is a little OTT, but as Ive found recently, a set of flats and a treble cut makes ALL the difference. Thumb resting on single H, plus that great neck profile, is perfect for fingerstyle.
I totally agree. All my tone tweaks are on my bass, I know how to play to get acreasonably softer tone out of my SUB but even if it's not enough, it's easyier to role back the treble than to touch my amp. However, on topic ; To add another ingredient to the concoction, what about pickups? Personally I think you should grab a 2EQ HS, as I think the double bucker rays need that mid control, the neck bucker is too high, and I've found to be a bit muddy, and the mid is great for risking in the tone again. -
John East Stingray preamp: can it do the 2EQ and 3EQ thang?
Prime_BASS replied to mcnach's topic in Bass Guitars
Mentioned something like this in Musicman20s thread on his next bass choice. It'd be great if their was a mid bypass feature, so you had best of both. However I believe that even if you set Mids flat, it would just react like a 3eq with flat mids..... No? I think the difference between the 2eq and 3eq, is that the 3eq has that middle amplifier stage, or something like that. So maybe a bypass feature would work. I had one those varitone kits, and that had a bypass, it must be possible for an active circuit. Although I don't think anything like that exists. I guess the only way to tell is by trying it yourself, if it's not what you want, I'd be happy to buy it off you for a basschat discount ? -
I tend to practice until my fingers glow red, then blast rage against the machine. It I get stuck I tend to go over it slowly, a bar or so at a time repeating it, till the point I can read the music and play it, the repeat until I can do it with out having to read it, then play with the song about 10 times. Maybe this is why I have no friends.
