I'll plus one to the epiphone t-bird pro V, strung with rotosounds drop zones, modern and low. Easy.
-
That's sounds strange. Are you pulling off then a bend? Or bending the string then pulling off? Or bending the string then doing pull off while the string is bent? The first 2, maybe easyier with practice, lower action higher string guages. The last maybe bending the string down toward the floor, would be easyier. Other wise bends pull offs and hammer ons are all essential techniques for me.

Where to buy? I've not seen these before. Edit : oh right I'm a dumbass! I'll have to pick some up next time I need some booze.
-
It shouldn't cause no sound with just half the speakers installed, I had a combo where one of the speakers became disconnected, the tweeter and other speaker worked fine.

I'd take my compact and OTB for anyone wanting to try before they buy. The grosvenor is only a 10 minute drive away.

Sad but we may never see the likes of this again!

I hope my white basses don't yellow like that, my parents smoke more in a week thanwhat the iclandic volcano has, no fly zone round here. -
COME ON!!! Someone must have an opinion. Strat style profile on the front or not???????????
Archtops?

My fender power jazz special is basically a P bass with a jazz in the bridge it's difinatly got the P bass tone. Would love some one to generous and trade for a White/buttercream EBMM of any type. Or a white MIJ jazz. P bass isn't my cuppa. Duff mckagens signature model is based off it, if that helps. It's got quarter pounder P pickup and a Duncan design for the J.

Are they 2 1x12 cabs. Looks menacing though. Fire it up and see what it sounds like please.
The orange looks so cute though... pity it wasn't gigbag sized.
it comes in it's own carry bag, and wieghs nothing. you could probably get an old Motown thing going on with it with the gain set low, but then tone becomes less defined. Then my guess would be to suit the thing with a good 15", BF compact? The OTB is a nice amp. It's plug and play all the way, the TC classic is a nice head too, I was thinking of getting one before I brought the svt then brought the orange.

I had a set on my power jazz, thickened out the sound and mellowed it out. I did like it. Only the E string open would worbble for no reason, it was horrible no matter what I did it just would uncontrollably worbble. If it wasn't so obvious inwould have kept them on. I won't again though.

Interesting observation this evening...
Prime_BASS replied to thisnameistaken's topic in General Discussion
For me, mid boost or flat with my jaguar. Plus I think i know when to let loose and riff and when to hold back and strum the crap out of the root notes. As to gear, I love my jag, how it sounds deep and growling and when flat it sits nicely, with a small mid boost and a treble cut, I've found it to be a lot more defined without it being trebly. Although I'm trying my power jazz with my new head Thursday to see if I can gig with that, and achieve the same result. -

You will probably find alot of people suggesting the squier CV or VM jazz or precisions. Or atleast a Mexican fender, if new touches the higher region of your budget. Warwicks arnt my cup of tea. Although there is a corvette with a natural wood finish and no pick guard. Available in 4, 5 and 6 sting. I do t know price or resell price though. I find it ugly. Best thing to do is take her to a shop that has a good selection, try em all out. See what feels best. My old teacher likes to always say to me that the MIA are most likely built by mexicans anyway. I prefer MIJ, myself. I've not played a jaguar that is any more superb than another. At the same time you can find something great with a MIA secondhand, then you can feel it's truely yours. If I had the monies I would go custom but I'm happy enough with my two MIJ fenders.

NEW RIG DAY Ampeg SVT-3 pro with Barefaced Compact PICS
Prime_BASS replied to Prime_BASS's topic in Amps and Cabs
Munkonthehill- deal is done I'll edit this thread when my new head arrives. Jarhead- what's your band called? We were billed to play the central on the 29th, although our queer singer decided he would rather see some band, although he expects to phone in sick at work when we have a sudden gig, douche. He's a good kid really. Machinehead- I love the sound of the compact, alex actually said to me that I should add a midget, but I do t need that extra mid range that I can't get with an EQ tweak using the compact. So I just want a compact sound but MOAR!!! I think if my new head arrives I'll update this thread with pictures of that aswell, hopefully with a better camera than my iPhone. If anyone is looking at this and wondering about barefaced compact, do it! Although I don't want alex to be too busy when it comes to me having the money for another compact. On the head though. The SVT-3 pro is a great head I'm surprised that there isn't a few more out there on the Market, if I had the spare ash I maybe would have thought about an SVT-6 pro, just for the apgrade in power. But I'm sure I'll be more than happy with what I'm getting instead. Plus wieght lose aswell is a factor. -
We play alot of Zepplin and Sabbath so the 70's sound is what I'm after. Average sized pub gigs are what we do mostly. Gig transport is no problem as we all drive vans. I've been led to belive that Ampeg don't make them like they used to, that the company was bought out and the quaility suffered, not sure if there's any truth in that. Cheers fotr the advice, it's alot of help.
Me neither but I know the QC issues are true, I've tried my old guitar teacher new SVT CL, it just sounded thin like something that was missing something, although another sounded like I expected. Although Orange AD200, I've tried a few all sounded roughly same, although one through a 8x10, another 4x10 and another a 1x15.

I wonder what difference the handmade UK one will have compared to a production model. I don't see it being that loud, I think it's a reaction to a few responses after orange announced the BT.
-
I know of harkte LH500, played through one with mathing hydrive cabs, it's a nice modern hifi sound IMO, although too cold and clinical for me. I'm just getting a Orange BT with my Barefaced compact, which will wiegh about 18kgs that's nothing compared to alot of the main stream 'light wieght' rigs on the Market.
It might make a small difference to know the Classic Ray 4 I have on order is Classic White/Tort/Maple...
in that case I'd go dark tobacco sunburst, black pick guard, rosewood board. Wish I had the money for one.

Well I've always believed that once you've taken those strings off they lose stuff, I dunno how to explain it, but they've been under that high tension then released they won't hold there tune aswell, I know this is true for guitar. Like you I hate the new string sounds, too brittle and bright, and with a lot of companies striving for long lasting strings they stay newer for longer, I want dead dull strings!!!!
Interesting! The lead guitarist who has just left the band I am in always used to mess up at the end of the solo on "whisky in the jar". this always led to problems with the timing going into the next section of the song (I think it's because he missed a part off the end of the solo), anyway, just before he quit he said it was me going into the next part too early! We now have a new lead guitar player, and guess what - no problems with timing! Ha! Knew it wasn't me!!!
You played with a drummer, during this? I find it impossible to go out of time if the drummer doesn't, and at the end of the day IMO guitarist should have been following you and the drums. I'm fairly decent guitarist, was tuaght for about 4 years and still self teaching myself, I left tuition at a skill level of grade 4 but I never did any tests, in ways it's made me a better bassist, speed, theory, technique. Being a bassist has made me a better musician. Bass is better.

Well there you go then, the single barefaced vintage will probably be louder than two 4x10's. But if your set on the 2x4x10 and want ampeg cabs, your only option is to sell the one you have, then buy two of the 8ohm cabs. The SVT 410 HE will do but two plus your head would about 97 kgs. No I'm not joking, those cabs around 41 KG each, the head is about 15. Even with one cab, it's still 56Kgs. Then the drumkit then the guitars. If your willing to move all thatcwieghtvaround thengo for it, I wouldn't but then I'm a girl
