Why is it so expensive to have that option? Surely cheaper than paint/polish!

What happens if you wear through? Could happen.
I assume it really doesn't, while paint can be sprayed on and left etc, there must be a lot of hand work involved in this, stitching the seems around the bass itself, sinking the bridge so it sits flat, the pickup cavities have no fraying etc, a lot of handwork has gone into it really, despite it looking terrible.

I'd hate spill coke on it, how are you supposed to wash it.

I like sand ergs stuff but some of it is terrible.
I really like the gold and silver playing option they have now too.

Just wondering what setting you are using on the internal switches.

I'm getting a bit confused since the controls are labelled differently than other compressors, Low/High for the Attack and Long/Short for the Release Time.
I'm want more of my natural note attack to go through so I can still have good articulation and dynamics.
Any advice on settings to achieve it?
If you are using the blend a bit then set the attack to have the shortest response(I'd assume it's high) and the release as long as possible.

The dry blend will bring back the note dynamic and the wet will have the fattier and more sustained note.
I use a much bigger parallel compression and have the comp set to be basically on all the time, squish the dynamics down a bit and bring the rest up. Not much point in having to mess with attack and release when you a blending dry back in.

3. As I've said in other threads. A lot of heft comes from preamp and EQ stack, IMO of course.

Also a lot of SVT sound comes from the sealed enclosure, you have that, so anything lightweight with enough juice to get t going and something like a SVT pre or a VT bass will help.

If you are after changing cabs too, there are a lot of options out there.

4. Not used one myself either, but I'm too impressed by them. Pretty stunned by the tiny MB200 I got hear the other day, extremely thick sounding.

I feel they've got a lot of things right with this amp.

No idea Stevie. I've asked Alex just now and I'll let you know. Someone earlier in the thread mentioned mid-June though. I'm in no panic for it!

If you ever go through Notts with it drop it round so I can have a blast. I'm sure two would tick a lot of boxes for me.

6. Very nice mate. I've opted for ash body and maple board on my ACG J Type.

Chuck the dimarzio model Js in, best jazz pickups around they are, if a cheap enough jazz cane up with a set already in and snap it up right now.

I always notice a difference in the spacing too, I prefer the 60s spacing myself, and again went for a similar spacing on my build.

Both the EBS Sheehan and J-lo pedals are based on a bandpass filtered (state-variable filter) and modified tube screamer with a blend tacked on the end for adding the clean signal back in. Apparently they don't sound much alike, but then just look how many different modified tubescreamer designs our guitar playing cousins have the choice of - surely they can't all sound the same... Err...

The BB preamp I have, which is another TS clone sounds nothing like a TS or the anything else I've tried lol.

8. Having owned a variety of lightweight heads some AB and some class D I can't say I've ever heard a significanyou noticeable difference in sound or performance.

A lot of heft IMO in the small lightweight stuff comes from the preamp voicing and EQ stack not much else.

One amp I am totally blown away with is the car stereo GK MB200. Massive sound and volume came from that and my super compact at the bass bash, just a shame it's missing an actual master volume.

Sure... but I said I posted more as a balance to countless threads ( namely NCD's etc etc and same are even on the same cabs at the same time ) on here and possibly
to counter an impression that they were universally well regarded.
I don't start the threads, I just post a counter opinion..but it seems some would rather I don't have one...or certainly dare not post one.
I would suggest you would rather read mine, than many others <_<

Thank god you are here to save us all and everyone else from the tyranny.

Count me out this thread.

10. Excellent event today. Nice to get out and meet some like minded people and talk gear all day long, my favourite subject.
It was a pleasure meeting everyone shame I didn't get round to everyone, I was either nattering to some else about gear or filling my self with that great fudge cake haha.
Hopefully more the same next year.
I hope no one was bored of me talking about my ACG build (I'm a bit excited for that)
Top guy Simon was for organising and a special thanks to Chris (Roland Rock) for helping get to mad from the bash.

I'd not be happy if when placing my order I'd not been told about the new improved model that was round the corner.
Same here. When I placed an order for a gen2 cab, a couple months down the line Alex emailed me about the Gen 3 super compact and asked if I'd like either a regular Comoact or the new super compact. I'm sure he would have done similar to any 69er orders.

So why are these modified 10" guitar speakers Alex is using not neo? Cost?
More than likely, for a few years china has been hoarding Neodymium(to my knowledge at least) so that's what originally drove forward the the gen 3 cabs. I don't know if the driver in the gen 3 stuff is ceramic, neo or ferrite but I really dig mine regardless.

13. Got some pics of the blank body and fingerboard from ACG the past week or so.

I changed my mind on the rosewood and opted for a an acrylic inpregnated Birdseye maple board. I had a small dilemma after seeing a lot of jazz type basses with natural ash and a maple finger board and it set me off. I emailed Alan with thoughts plus that if it'd end up being rather pale(as some maple can be) then I would down right hate it. So he's set me up with a board that's got a fair amount of Birdseye in and some awesome coloration throughout it.

14. Just confirming I'm coming.
I'll be trying to bring, especially if there is some interest my Pearce preamp, accepting reasonable offers on it. It's on eBay right now http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pearce-BC-1-preamp-Billy-Sheehan-/331193424601?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Preamps&hash=item4d1caa9ad9 .

Along with my rig, some effects, and my ACG Finn Graft.

What's it like in the high frequency range? The big baby obviously has the tweeter and extended freq range. If I can live with the compact I'd much prefer the weight saving!

What's the cloth grill like in terms of protection?

To much gas going on here
It's can be very bright, but don't expect glistening open top end. The highs start rolling off at around 3/4khz that's plenty for me.

The cloth grill i don't know but it's supposed to be better than the previous one and I never had issues with that cloth grill either.
I went for the metal grill front.
