1. I used it for a barefaced compact, I had to crank the master to get the volume that some other micro heads are capable of. Sound nice I'd admit The 7 pro, is smaller and lighter but again compared to some of the 500w heads that are still smaller and lighter it never felt like 1000watts. And again the 500w micro heads are smaller, capable of bigger sound and IMO sound nicer. The only ampeg Pro variant I've liked is the 2, but it's a 2 man job just getting it to the car. Lots of other micro heads that are better at the job than ampeg.
2. The SVT 2 pro I've used at rehearsals gets really hot, not warm, hot. I wouldn't worry
3. What amp is it? I would try and ascertain if it is the amp or not.
4. I subriscribe to this guy since he did the video on how music is finite. Some excellent stuff on his channel so if you aren't subscribed you should. This was uploaded today and I just got through it, some stuff he mentioned were particularly poignant with us in the bass world. Once you get to "Auras" it explains the fascination with old basses or indeed custom builds. Then the cross-race effect explains why we can tell the difference between an active jazz and a passive P but Joe public can barely tell it's even bass guitar. There is even a nice take on forgeries. Particularly applicable at the minute with regards to Rics and their copies. Where Is This Video?: http://youtu.be/VztSdwYPFCE
5. Some people highly rate them and will defend them. I didn't like it at volume and that's that really. Perception is a weird thing. Some say the 750 version was louder than other simarlily rated amps, I thought it sounded just as loud as the Eden WTX 260 I had. If you like it you like it, and to be honest the wattage thing had nothing to do with it for me. It is how it handles itself at loud volume. Lots of people seemed to like the shuttle 3.0 and 6.0 until it came about it had a HPF built in to protect its small combo variants, and it put people off them. Yet many people go ahead and buy the Thumpinator pedal which does the same thing.
6.
Hi, What did you not like about the RH...... and prefer about the Markbass?
I just didn't like how it handled itself at volume. I often felt it became a bit of a loud mush, and despite plating EQ, never really changed character. Fantastic feature set however, if they made a preamp with the same features then I'd be more than interested. Once all the info came out on actual rated watts and it's power amp stuff it became clear why I didn't like it.
7. I'm going to be borrowing the aforementioned soon. I don't hold any real interest in doing the exam but the past few years my playing has been a bit stale. So I thought it a great opportunity to actually play something a bit challenging. I will most likely skip anything prog rock (the first track looks to be prog) as I can't bare the sound of it, I'd rather eat a raw onion. How difficult will I find it, is my main question? I mean I've learnt stuff I'd consider difficult, a lot of Rage Against the Machine and some Papanegro stuff, should I try a lower grade rather than jumping into the deep end?
8. Sounds like it was a positive experience for you and I'm envious of you for that. In regards to the three notes in the middle of nowhere, I have literally no experience in playing with an orchestra outside of school (which was 8 years ago) but you'd have to be a lot stricter with yourself and forcibly count everything, if it's in front of you it be easier cause at least you have something of meaning to follow. But then again I don't read either. Im guilty of plain not counting, even when I play in the band and all songs are just 4/4 I still get that wrong haha.
9. I for one can't stand playing covers. I get bored pretty quick even playing to songs at home. For me playing bass is just as much about writing than just playing. But JTUK has a good point, I don't have the discipline to play to a given song, the urge to play out is too strong.
10. Try real electronics in Sheffield, they fix stuff down to component level (a lot cheaper) and will give you a quote before doing the work. I got my amp back from them with in a week cause I was gigging like crazy. Helpful level expert. Personally, I would buy one of the ampeg preamps (probably the pro with the sliders) and use that into the effects return on the orange. That way it: bypasses the orange's coloured and (IMO) horribly preamp stage, still gives you lots of preamp tube gain stages for tasty harmonics, graphic EQ to take if the deep lows, a better quality DI, still gives you the monstrous 500w power at whichever ohmage you wish. When I was using my OTB I started going straight into the effects return to get a flatter output, you may also find that you won't need to EQ the lows off when doing that either.
11. Went from markbass to a RH750' didn't like it, so went back to the markbass.
12.
Thank you I thought I was the only one.
I've tried a few others and I just think they all track like crap and sound even worse.
13.
I concur with Prime, cracking cabs and definitely a leap forward from the previous cabs! Tbh one cab is probably fine for most people, especially if you're running 300W plus amplification. I run two because I use a 100W valve amp so the extra sensitivity is welcome, but even that with one on its own and PA support is plenty
The 300watts or so I push mine with is often too loud for stages, and plenty for rehearsals
14. Is there a mod on this one? Mine doesn't have the jack sockets if the knob on the back
15. This cab is loud, so loud in fact I can.still feel my soul shake from the last time I heard it.
16.
Does anyone know how these compare with the 1x15" barefaced cabinets? I'm getting over my BFC due to the sensitivity (I call it 'flappyness') of the speaker - and the bottom end is a bit boomy. It's AMAZING for convenience but I'm starting to wonder if I can upgrade to a newer model and have convenience + a better and more rounded sound. Thoughts? If there's not much between them I'll stick with what I have.
My personally opinion is the super compact is miles better than the original. It has mush better mids dispersion and so it sounds like it is super punchy. Still loads of bottom and has a nice high end response too. I love it and after the months I've had it I still actually want it. It's everything that was brilliant about the compact and the midget combined.
17.
Dibs and I'd suggest the aguilar octamizer unless you don't like octave as an effect
I think Sibob beat you to it haha. I think I just don't like octave as an effect, I think it sounds crap.
18.
Fancied one of these for a while.. why is it when you have loads of money you can't find out to spend it on but as soon as you're skint everything shows up! sods law
Lol
What flavour of jazz bass was it fitted to ?
MIJ 62ri
19. I'll repeat. Best p pickup out there.
20. Sony Wireless kit for sale. Briliant unit, so so so clean and clear even when you clip the input too much. I chose this over the stage clix as the stage clix stuff was no where near as clean or produced the same kind of deep lows as this. The receiver did fail but I've had a replacement from sony under warranty ( a year left on that) and it works perfect again. The previous one just stopped outputting any audio. It doesn't eat batteries and the reciever can be powered via it's 12v PSU or 9v adapter or even a 9v sqaure battery. While it's been out of service I brought some fantastic cables and I've been more than happy with them so far and this never really got used to its ability as I'm no stage rocker, more of a plant and head nod lol. Comes with box, manual, 12v PSU, some software disc(works anyway straight out the box) only opened the new stuff to test it. 21. Lol. What was it anyway?
22. A very informative 'how to' on killing small animals that. I remember running a super twelve and a compact in my bedroom, there are no words, because after it's been on all you hear is white noise.
23. I'm just patiently waiting for this to happen
24. £200 posted. no lower. As above we all know what this is so no point going on forever. Brought second hand but wasn't aware fully of the damage it had sustained but despite that it is fantastic. I didn't find the sound that much harsher than your regular ebony or rosewood fret boarded neck. If you want stability for days then this is a must, I set it up once and never had to mess with it again. All damage is shown, as you can see the mounting holes aren't great but the fixtures inside mean the holes won't bore out from repeated screwing and unscrewing. It has cracked some of the clean coat but once screwed tight no one knows the wiser really. Tuners are a nice quality. No trades really but the worst I can say is no.
