1. As above really. The wiring looms from KiOgon are extremely good quality, so do that first (less than 30 quid) and if you like the sound enough then leave the pickups alone. If not as Lozz said, dimarzios have become my go to pickup. The model Js are extremely good. I might have a spare set knocking about.
2.
I am constantly scanning BC Marketplace for The One!
Amen!
3. Seymour Duncan MusicMan StingRay/Sterling Alnico replacement pickup. - This the 3 coil version that is for the sterling basses but without the third coil you can retro fit it to a stingray. This is because ATM the third phantom coil has come off but only needs soldering on, but alas I have the words carpets iron and no solder. I paid full RRP for it £130 quid, fitted it to one bass for a short time. As it is it's £30 posted I'm sure he third coil can be used a a standalone pickup too, so could possibly go into a HS sterling. I may be talking sh*t though. No pictures right now since I am on my iPad.
4. £80 Price is posted with the box and if I find it the manual and the adapter. I've used this extensively over the last few years but time for a switch around as an impending new eq pedal means I might switch what I have for my clean sound. Extensive controls for full compression control, can go from limit to full of squish town. I have it in a kind of always on squish to add thump. Very clean and despite not being true bypass there is no audible loss in 'tone' also the tube does add a kind of warmth and harmonic distortion which I always liked. It runs on a weird adapter (I think instill have the original PSU too) at 12vs the adapter runs off a 9v supply and this ups it to 12v, it wasn't cheap lol. The unit does have marker pen on it from various setting but obviously it still works 100% Trades - not after anything in particular, it's priced to sell trade price is 80£. 5. Truly awesome, now I know what I want to do next
6. Those recessed holes for the tuners look magic
7. How flat would people say its response is? And what's the DI like. I love the sound of the 6.0 I have but live and rehearsals could use a little extra oomph in the lows without it clipping so much.
8. Long one has gone just the short one left
9. Can't wait for my new custom DI. Sticking with the Nintendo theme too.
10.
So would the Chromes have a higher tension than the EBs? Secondly if I wanted an EB with a similar tension to standard round wounds would that be a II guage? I ask this because I have had problems with my MM SUB strings (in another post). I think that the string tension has been too high.
Strings of any kind are a personal choice, higher string tension or compliance doesn't really suggest how good or bad a string will play or sound as that's a very subjective thing. If you are wondering about string tension d'addario do publish their tensions on line, and give different values for different things of the same string. Very informative.
11. does sound good on a ray, some d'addario chromes will sort you out, my favourite flats.
12. I've had a pre MOSFET bass drive and it was awesome, had a toggle switch in the centre for some different sounds.
13.
Does anyone from Orange frequent this forum and care to stick up for them selves? Seems there's some non-love going on here.
Don't get me wrong it sounds mint, and I like how neutral the EQ seems to be. Although I'd want some questions answering. Like, why is it so heavy? Why is so expensive? And while it does sound pretty good it sounds like you could achieve similar sounds with one of the dark glass products.
14. I tend to ruin them with a marker pen then struggle like buggary to sell them on lol.
15.
Not positive feedback I'm afraid. Seller provisionally agreed a sale on the usual 1st come 1st served basis and then stopped communicating. He sold item to another seller because they wanted multiple items and he thought he'd save on postage costs. No fault of the other buyer I must add. It wouldn't have been so bad imo if the seller had of explained this at the time instead of ignoring me and hoping I'd go away. Peter
I've PMd you and apologised for the confusion. I wasn't ignoring you, I was either asleep or at work. HOpefully you can appreciate how confusing it can be in the wave of message I got following the sale thread opening. Along with my usually busy lifestyle and a bunch of other emails and messages related to other things I'm in the middle of sorting. Hopefully others can read through my feedback and be sure in the knowledge that I'm an honest and thoughtful buyer and seller on here.
16. Send me a private message buddy
17. That aria bridge looks awesome!
18. Two Comfort Strapps for sale. One is short and has been used a fair bit. Has had one end of the double holes cut, which has been done very neatly. £20 posted. One is the long one, fairly newish but doesnt go as long as I like. £25 posted. Short -
19. Jazz bass neck - 21 frets, black dots all maple, truss rod nut at the headstock. Pretty good condition and quality, very comfortable, a little wide for a jazz but feels shallow, and I cant hear much in the way of dead spots. . Origin unknown, I was told (and have no reason to distrust this person) it was made in Europe. Tuners I now believe to be form a Squier, not fantastic but they hold well and true, and do the job well enough. Also will come with an original Fender California neckplate and some screws. £50 posted for the neck alone, I'll chuck in some the screws and neck plate too. £10 for the tuners plus any hardware providing they havent been taken previous. Tuners are now sold. 20.
When I briefly had a Streamliner 900 to gig with, I found it really difficult to cut through in general. Switched back to Markbass and had no problems at all. Just sayin' Si
This too, the mid scoop on the streamliner's was something I couldn't get on with so switched back to markbass, until I tried the shuttle
21. Even with my one guitarist he turns the bass down to at least 10 o clock. Even more so on bigger cabs (4x12) And I bump the mids up, the 1khz region will help you cut through the thickest mix
22.
I found it to be rubbish but others dont. What iPad have you got?
iPad mini, it has the new mini USB like the iPhone 5
