BB preamp for days, I have 2 and a clone. But depends if you really want the HPF or LPF filters on there too. I use a line selector for clean bass and have the ods bass eq turned down

Dirtboxes don't work well with Music Man Sterling bass?
Prime_BASS replied to DiMarco's topic in Effects
Hi dimarzio. I found the same with all my previous EBMM basses the very same, good dirt sound would end up being very scooped which in my opinion is the opposite of what dirt and a musicman bass should be. But I agree with Gaz above, tube screamer based stuff sounds good with anything I've tried. -
First up. A short comfort Strapp. Used it a bit, one of the strap pin ends has been cut off(just a single hole on the front side) been used with Dunlop locks. Over all won't look or feel much different from a new one. Brought so I could have my bass high, but story goes I didn't want it high any more. £25 posted, but open to offers A Long Comfort Strapp. Very recent purchase, but It didn't go long enough, and I wasn't keen on the bounce it would have when pissing about on stage. As such I brought a longer mono strap. Not used it as much strap ends are fin but was used with strap locks for one gig but on the second set of holes. I've found that for me a strap is a very personal thing, I haven't found something I like yet. Regards Stephen

So I just got an iPad from Santa and I was wondering what are the best and most useable apps for a budding musician. I don't have a mac book but if I could do some basic recording on this thing that would be awesome. Thanks dudes. Merry Christmas.

I have the Sony dwz thing and its a cracking piece of kit a bit expensive but the wireless sound is so much clearer and more present, I love it.

Yes first priority is get the issue sorted. Regards to the bass. I think anyone who is going to judge you on how short or long your bass is are going to come from the same kind of people who judge musos on strap length, or if that jazz is by 'squier' or 'fender'. And as such not worth the time or effort.
Ouch, best wishes to your guitarist. I'm not comfortable when there are strobes or lots of blinking lights. Not that I get seizures or anything like that but I quickly feel a bit disoriented and I can get a fine headache bordering on migraine, so I feel for him/her.
Thanks guys, had a rough couple of weeks recently. He is having relevant tests to discern what the problem is.
You know I approve so hard! Si
Lol, still waiting to hear it with the band, as we've had to cancel all December gigs since the guitarist has had a weird epilepsy scare.

Brought myself a P bass with required mods already on it so that might entertain me for a few weeks. Girlfriend has been kind enough to buy me some strings. And aside from the usual chocolate and socks and slippers I won't be getting much else.

New Pedal Train Junior has allowed for a much cleaner set up. Noise floor is better all around too due to the patch cables and power cables not crossing paths so much.

Sandberg basic. I'm sure there is one on eBay atm at 4oo notes. Every bit the same sound as a stingray with a nice comfortable neck too.

Geez squeezer is virtually the same as the compressore by markbass. But I'm a better form factor. Although the knobs move around a fair bit, not much resistance to them. But sounds nice.

I have a kiogon loom in my jazz. A massive upgrade compared to any stock fender one I've had my hands on.
The Xotic BB is very cool for low gain fat gnarrly sounds, but I found it a bit limited.
Really surprised at that, I find the xotic excells at anything I want to get out of it, and the 2 band eq is anything but limiting. But maybe I'm biased as I love it so much.

In reality you'd probably only use one, two maybe three different combinations and the coloured lights make it easy to know which pickup is doing what. Great technology though IMO and the fusion P bass looks by far the best. Never tried one though. But if it was my own dosh, I share the same sentiments as above.
I understand the Genz Streamliner has sething similar in it
I think it's only the shuttle 3 and 6 that has the filter, to help not ruin their 'combo' varient's speakers. But it works with all cabs and PAs I've plugged my 6 into. Helps get more power(thus volume I guess) out of the amp. I think the sfx thumpinator is set at around 30hz and the shuttles the same IIRC at least. I had the thumpinator a while back when I was using marinade stuff and it worked a treat. Couldn't tell it was on till I took it out of the chain, but sold it once I got the shuttle head.
I'd love to fella's but I have a severe nerve damage condition which has stopped me from gigging. Hey ho
What a bummer. I suggest you donate to a gigging fellow like myself ;-) Such a shame that Modulus don't seem to be around anymore.

personally never liked the darkglass stuff, but i havent heard much the vintage. They seem very metallic in sound and I'm sure there is some kind of mid scoop going on too.
Not sure about that.... Anything high up the fretboard gets lost...like slides and trills so you need a cab with more than 2k
That's just hilarious. That's like saying if a cab doesn't go lower that 40hz you can't hear a low E.
The used Compacts about do look like great value, but do they give enough definition and top end response, or are they inherently quite bassy and "dubby"?
IiRC the frequency cut off is 1khz and it's a very steep roll off too. The new super compact cut off is 3khz which is brilliant for me. But as I said in a pm to you, there was always something not quiet right with the older compacts, not sure what it ever was Where as the super compact has been the most pleasurable experience for me.
