I''ve been too busy actually doing gigs and rehearsing to be bothered with all this diatribe. I like it. It's light. It's loud. I think it sounds good. They arent that expensive. They are fairly indestructible. I would put any player that doesn't go on BC part of joe public, so asking them if theyve heard of Barefaced is like asking a non musician the discerning differences in basses.
I don't know, I hadn't really considered that! Maybe I should try another. I do love the look
Maybe, mine is fairly grippy. Prefer it to the comfort strapps I've used over the past few years, much more range in lengths, but the monos won't go as short. If it's of interest I have a used short and long comfort strapp available.
Loads of companies.
That showed us. Anyway. To the OP, I think you are 'chasing the rabbit' so to speak. Much better performance to be had in running the cabs in unison. Have you emailed barefaced about the foam? Have you taken any pictures?

I have just brought PT Jr. But may have to upgrade to a 2 of I go ahead and get another BB.

Looking for loud, heavy, old school SS amp. Recommendations
I've heard the EBS amps have a distinctive 'voice' that one either 'gets' or doesn't.
I wouldn't say so, very transparent excellent frequency response, and power for days. Shep on here has some sort of EBS head and it'll do coloured vintage all the way to modern hi fi. Played with the EQ and gain and it felt a down sight louder than his old 1200w digital power amp with a similar EBS preamp. IIRC at least. The 650watter for sale at 450 quid. I don't think you'll get much more quality ampage at that price secondhand. -
Yep - I've no idea whats happened with them. Ordered stuff in the past, quick build times, fast shipping. Honest comms. But now.... um not so much! Not really sure what else I can do to get my money back now.... They were paid via paypal using credit card in Aug.
Got them yet? Or a refund? As by the sounds of it now you'll struggle to get either indefinitely. -
One of them has been on the Bench for 6 months... Stop distracting him from my builds!!!!
sounds like my new new wont be getting started a while then. LOLZ
good vid Si, I'm more of an OSD fan too I think. Thing is, I sold my OSD and Rat Tail as for me they just cut too much low end, to my ears, or maybe it's just that you can't boost the lows enough (probably why I use a TFR and a BB now)...
I can never get on with 'tone' knobs myself always prefer at least a 2 band EQ. but that vid seems to have a loads of bottom, more than enough for me atleast.

Prime_BASS replied to Beedster's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
Hiya Sean, good to hear from you, all's well mate, hope all's OK with you. I dropped my iPhone and smashed the screen today so pics will have to wait until tomorrow at the earliest. To my eye it's more Fender Bassman than Ampeg, to my ear pure Ampeg, just subtract 80% of the weight of either EDIT: I'm not 100% sure I'd want to put a Bass 400+ on top of it though. It would sound awesome for sure, but in that case it would probably make the rig quite top heavy?
It won't topple over though. I'd want to stay well clear though incase it changes the air pressure in my body and I burst. -
For me I wouldn't have bothered chopping and changing gear for a sound that's in my head. The thing you didn't like was something in the cab so you got rid of the amp? Anyway, if the preamp and amp are working for you use that.

The EBS hd650 and 350 are the way to go. both for sake at the minute too I'm tempted myself for the 650 -
BDPG and demon sounded best solo and stacked for me. Very similar sounds I het from the BB preamps. The rat tail for me just mushes it up and colours it in brown. IMO it doesn't have the same definition as the other two. Quality vid Si.

Dimarzio model P that's it.

Just get the serial number off them and email fender UK, they'll be able to tell you what it's original condition was, if anything doesn't fit stay away.

Other iterations of the band did covers as too many members caused conflicting opinions of songs so some material has never been played at all live. Our first three piece gig we played no covers and haven't since.

On the note of borrowing stuff to idiot. Played a small 3 band affair and after doing our short sound check cause the headliner was mega late (and providing drum shells) Their bassist walks up to me and complimentary at first, but then asks to borrow my bass cause he has a broke string. Obviously I say no, and he replies with "why? It's not even a fender..." At which point I loose my cool a bit and spout on about how he even has the gaul to ask me after turning up to his own gig late and not even being bothered to sort out a fresh string before hand. Finishing on telling him too look up the RRP of the status neck.
You could always look up the factory specs - on a Fender Jazz bass, when holding the string at the last fret, it's around 7/64" (you can convert that to metric easily) on the bass side and 6/64" on the treble side. It's a good starting point for your Sadowsky and you can work from there. On a MM bass, here are the specs from the Music Man website: The factory specifications for the pickup height is 6/32" or 4.76mm from the top of the plastic pickup cover to the bottom of the G string. The angle of the pickup is set fairly level, so the larger strings are naturally a bit closer. If you haven't already adjusted the pickup or changed to a very heavy gauge string set, you shouldn't have to do any adjustments on the pickup. On the 2-pickup basses the measurements are virtually the same on the bridge pickup and the neck pickup is further away, about 8/32" or 6.35mm from the bottom of the string to the top of the pickup cover. If you do find that your playing style hits exposed poles - put some black insulating tape over the poles. It won't affect the pickup and is a lot cheaper than changing the pickups.
I always adjust it closer than what manual suggest. My jazz, bridge pickup between 4 and 3 mm, neck between 5mm and 4mm. Measured with the strings open and with the bass on its side. When I played with fingers on a musicman cause my pickup was so close to the strings I did that black insulation tape thing, works a treat. My opinion is that I just plain prefer the slightly compressed and chocked sound from having way high pickups.

Having had a boner jazz this is confusing. It's seems legit apart from the tuners, inlays and contols/jack. I'm sure the standard(which I'm sure IRC this is basically, but branded as something else) didn't come in natural.
