Fender strings are made by D'Addario, but Fender strings are not merely repackaged D'Addarios, i.e. Fender flats are not Chromes.
I thought the same too. I've tried fenders equivalent to chromes and nickelwounds and found the fender packs to be of lower tension.
Can you make basses that don't look like Fenders?
The basic, KT Sig and I think the bullet are on the configurator.
i would expect that the process would be for the buyer to return it to the seller, the seller confirms it isn't working and refunds the cost, (including the cost of returning it i suppose). put it down to one of things that happens every now and again.
yes this, make sure you get it back first. Been stung on eBay twice by not receiving the 'broken' item back, all the eBay was extremely helpful in allowing me to ask for it back.....

Some good stuff here, I voted for the one that sounded most like I was playing Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
This is what it will look like in the end! Replacement for my LS-2 with with controls for each channel, phase switches etc.
Ah same spec as mine, I thought you went for something simpler. Internal master volume?

Alright alright, less BikeChat and more BassChat.
WIthout wanting to turn this into another Barefaced-centric thread, as there are other manufacturer options, I think you'll find the Big Baby 2 or Big Twin 2 will be the sort of thing you're looking for....
I've been subjected to Shep's BigTwin T and it's basically a PA, very clean. He's local to Nottingham too and probably won't mind you having a try on it.

Can a real man wear a...*Purple Metal Flake* Flea Bass?
Prime_BASS replied to Chiliwailer's topic in Bass Guitars
I still want to try a modulus persuasion, if any were actually sold. -
Would that be Reverend guitars? Think I saw a couple of reviews online.
Ah yes, Reverend, had a quick a Google. The dub king is the short scale one they do. Could always try a MIJ jazz, the JB62m which is 32 inch and the JB62ss which is 30 incher. The one medium scale one I tried was awesome.
I have no idea why you prefer any Gibson type bass over the Sandberg but you do, and if that keeps you picking the bass up then stick with it...
I don't think it's that at all. Some people just can't work on a 34 inch scale. The issue is totally understandable but unfortunatly as has been said the choice for quality short scale stuff is limited. I don't many at all, but I'd stay away from any Gibson version of the EB or SG, while structurally better and higher quality the sound will be relatively the same, thud, wool and undefined. The complete opposite to the Sandberg. There is a really nice brand that make some funky looking basses that use MM style humbuckers in useable places, and I think they are 32 inch which is nice size, but the name alludes me. Models called the thundergun or something like that.
Oh and added cost wont be much, i have nearly everything I need what complexities are you thinking Prime_BASS. I have thought the idea through alot but would like to be aware of something I might have missed.
Well Ive tried and its safe enough, but you need to be aware of where you'll be gigging and with who, Ive had some right pissy sound men that got in a hump when I wanted a guitar cab miccing for bass and the bass amp DI ing etc. The obvious cost of using two wacking great bass amps. Volume issues on stage, matching them right etc, once you spend ages getting the volume right on stage, who is to say out front it's ok ? Also where you putting cabs, dirty on top or the low end on the top etc etc etc. All that sort of matters if you are going to gigs and your bass amp is the only thing providing the sound for the bass, and even then it's not that imperitive especially if you are using one just to retain low end frequencies. You also need to factor significant volume drops when one or the other is off. If you just want to retain a good low end I'd always recommend just using an LS-2 and utilising both of its channels. Even if you use one channel for the dirty channel the other one doesn't have to be connected and it acts as a clean blend of the input signal, and when sitching the Ls-2 it will turn off your dirty channel and leave your input signal fine. It's very different for people in big bands that use dual rigs (Tim C of Rage, Billy Sheehan of Winery Dogs) as they'll say they use two but at the end of the day unless you are live and are sitting right close to their rig it's still coming from one source. two rigs doesn't achieve much more than what one rig can that has a split signal going into it. (Am I waffling, I can never explain anything properly) The buffer is not that bad and I would seriously try that to experiment with first and if the buffer and the lack of having either or and both at the tip of your toes is a burden then consider a custom unit. For what it's worth, I never really liked drive in my sound due to the lack of bass and increasing it seemed to drown the grind and make things wooly. Now I have drive on all the time, mixed with a clean compressed sound, I was using the Ls-2 before, but got a custom unit as I as after a few more options ready at my feet mid songs etc. I can hear the drive(which I have the bass EQ turned down) and I can hear the nice clean full bass sound too. Fills lots of sonic space, to combat having no option of turning the channel off I would just turn the drive off and I wouldn't lose any Volume either, and then have a parallel compressed signal(which sounds the dogs bollocks) I was really dogging for two rigs before I settled on parallel effects chains until I played with pantherirsoft's (sheponbass.co.uk) massive board and he was using a LS-2 and the synth and stuff was really bright and vibrant and never got lost once engaged a massive 1 octave down sub channel with it, that sold for me. wow I hope you got some useful information out of that.

Band leader: I want a songlist of 200 songs...
Prime_BASS replied to solo4652's topic in General Discussion
Out of interest I tried to count how many songs I know, including my own bands originals. I counted about 55-65 songs and I probably know around 20 all the way through without getting stuck at all. 200 songs is major overkill. -
No need to sell anything or buy anything new. Get to grips more with actually playing that kind of stuff and play around with EQ. I will say that the OTBs 'flat' is the bass and treble very much rolled back and the mid boosted a fair bit.

Is this real......or do I see a Squadron of Saddlebacks overhead....!?!
Prime_BASS replied to SPHDS's topic in Bass Guitars
Buts it's got a badass bridge. -
Are you using two different amps? For different cabs? Assuming you are, you could just turn the bass significantly down on the EQ on the amp. I'm not sure how the zoom b3 works or how you are using parallel rigs so can't say much else.
Defo speak to Tom @ COG. Alternatively; i'll have a ls2 for sale soon. Tom's building me a replacement.
Same here, I have the first, that I know of atleast, line selector type pedal that Tom has sold? I maybe wrong though. But to the OP. The easiest thing to do will be use a LS-2 since they are readily available. Not too bypass but when it's on I wouldn't say ny tone suffered from using it and through a big full range PA I only really noticed a suck in the very high end. Although I will warn against using 2 bass rigs. There is a lot of added complexity in running two amps at the same time, even with different effects plus the added cost. Why do you want to use two bass rigs?

Played forever on EB super slinkies but never really liked them but when I started I didn't realise there was as much choice as there was. Played with Dr and I like the sound but the tensions per string were just too un-even for me and after a few too many sets with dead strings I gave up on them. Found the best string to be D'addario nickel wounds, when I got my Sandberg from Oli on here. Now I'm using the balanced tension sets as they are even more even and are still under £20 which I think is cheap for quality bass strings. been meaning to try a P-bass with a set on as I've hated all previous tries with other strings on. Coincidently the guitarist uses D'ardarrio too.

Just buy it. Especially if it's a good price. If the rumours ate true then these will be harder and harder to find. -

Boss LS-2 no box or instructions been on my board for ages and used always on so barely stomped on. £60 posted mainland UK. Fantastic little pedal but I have custom unit now from COG. Besides basic line selecting it does a host of other things. Clean blending(without having anything in the other loop) great for parallel compression or blending clean with dirt, line boosting, amp selecting, instrument selecting all sorts really. I used it to great effect with parallel effects chains. EWS BMC -Bass Mid Control, I have the box and not too sure on the manual. £85 feeler at the moment as I don't have something to replace it and it play an important EQ role. This is again posted to mainland UK. I think it's able to boost and cut by 15db frequencies between 150hz and 5khz. Able to get some very musical options out of it. Personally I boosted the 1khz to bring out the dirt, but it's quiet capable of turning hifi quiet dubby and a host of other things. Great for bring out something you want more of to leave your amps EQ to help with room acoustics. I had new but somewhere the internal trim pot has lost 2 of it's quarters but it still turns fine with a small screw driver, and it's a set and forget thing really since it's internal.

Where can i buy a DiMarzio DP123L Model J (bridge pup)?
Prime_BASS replied to dave_bass5's topic in Accessories and Misc
I will always recommend this over a lot of other stuff out there (unless you want to spend silly money) but as an alternative due to ease of getting a hold of them, the SD hot stack or quarter pounder J are good to blend against a P, along with the Delano J single coil with the fat musicman style pole pieces. Although first of all I would spend some serious time adjusting pickup height etc to balance it, a long with probably not using both pickups on 100% volume.
