If you hear your self and your bass through a decent set of desk monitors or listen to the straight DI sound through a FOH PA you can get a good idea of what your stuff really sounds like, then its a case of comparison. TBF a lot of amps don't colour a great deal, its poor cabs.

I also find a decent setup which includes pickup hieght helpe a long with balanced tension strings. Other wise, if you feel its a case of those strings being quiet then a multiband comp should work for you, one where you can set different level of comp for high and low bands. A decent full range comp still brings up the level of other frequencies though, but some will get stuck heavily compressing the low stuff causing the high stuff to get lost under it all. I really do recommend either the trex squeezer or MB compressore, same stuff in different boxes, the mxr m87 or tc nova dynamics. What I've started doing though now is parallel compression, I get to keep the airy-ness and dynamics of not having.a comp with the overall fatness and upwards compression of having one. Compression is a mine field and can be very much more of a personal choice rather than a technical one
Personally I think Warwicks are worth sitting on right now, their market is AWFUL second hand in terms of pricing. I have seen some elaborate custom shop instruments go for under a grand in the past couple of years, prices will not remain that low forever I do not think, if the brand either goes pop or comes back into vogue they will creep back up.
At the same time there will always be basses that stay the same price due to extreme rarity second hand and demand. Modulus FU, Ricks, vintage Fenders amoung others.
This is a good observation and one I've made too. I love guessing the price before reading the thread and deciding if it'll sell, usually it doesn't. Same on eBay though but people are even more clueless and optimistic than I thought possible.
Prime example, used EBMM sub bass has been on ebay for ages, lucky to get £350 for it, the seller has listed it for BIN at £800. Can get a puka Ray for that. A couple hundred more will get you a new one. It's also slowed the market down loads. People seem to god on stuff cause they can't get a good price for it. I remember even a year ago on the bay and here a big influx of stuff, warwicks, MM, fender allsorts. Now there is s handful of items, that most likely wpnt sell or take months to sell. A lot of it is waiting for the right buyer too.

Price is just down to what someone is willing to pay. I brought a MIG corvette $$ for 700 on eBay as i couldnt wait. Only to try and sell on here and lost best part of 300 quid. Admitedly ive sold things on here purposfully cheap to move it on quick and even then thing took time to move on. Even if people want it they seem to not want to pay what it could go for. But when they need to sell something they expect others to pay a wishful price
it's not that big, and it works so well! I don't think you'd ever need any more tone shaping that this thing is capable of.
Well I could rid one pedal in favour for it but still is loose a lot of realestate.
Basically, the more control you give people, the more they'll screw it up. Its why sound engineer is a job. And why forums are covered in 'I cut all my mids but I still can't hear myself, do I need another kilowatt in my rig?' posts.
Lol jokes. Thing is for me, 99times out of a hundred I'm going straight to desk so my bass is eq'd along with pedals using a full range PA and studio monitors. The heads Eq is there to help me shape the speakers sound on stage so I can hear between ridiculous 100watt guitar stacks and a loud as hell drum kit. I can see why tone shaping is important for others though.

I agree, the risk may put other people off but I know a few us seem to have pocketed and a few including myself know a Mod, as shep has mentioned. So it maybe worth if this was going to work on a wider basis, then allowing a to easily contact you might be something. Also most of the regulars have a big feedback, and I have yet to meet anyone ingenuine. And maybe if the Mods would allow feedback to be postef in regards to borrowed/loaned items. To help increase the trust issue.

I find a firm grip and a decent wrist strength just as good than some 8.50 piece of plastic I might get lost somewhere.

It would be fair to say that there are a few of us here that have a lot of pedals, and a few of us who would like to try some more. And as we can all appreciate it can be expensive buying pedals just try and only end up moving on in a few weeks time. And trying in a shop is hard not the same as in a mix or at a gig. I've borrowed a few things from friends that they've had spare or selling to find that its not for me or it is. So it got me thinking, we are a community and the vast amount of us have a good set of feedback, and opening up the borrowing malarky to us lot should yeild a wider variety of stuff to try. Not too sure how it would work, obviously postage costs and stuff to manage. Should this be persued ? I know there is a few things I want to try without buying first.
Tuner. Octave down. Low Pass Filter. Moog MP-201 - I'd this broke I would cry.
Lol rarer than rare those. For me. Tuner and Comp Can go without both drives if I had to, which in turn makes thenLS-2 redundant. Hoping that'll change with a new band/project though. Obviously power supply is important, although strictly not a pedal.

Speaking from experience, I had a Midget arrive with a whole driven all the way through, near an corner. Promptly told Alex, but it took a long while to get a replacement. This was before the CNC machined ones was available. The cab it's self was fine, there was a massive(for the cab size) crack that bent under pressure, but Alex allowed me to use it until a replacement was available. Never missed a beat though. Eventually, over 6 months anyway. I made a new order for a S12t, and Alex discounted the price of the Midget for me. So at least you can use it and see if you might fancy something else and trade it in later. Although a replacement should be a lot quicker now he has help and a CNC machine.

I started using silk gloves as I go through strings with in hours. Helps with sweat obviously and string life, makes you look a right queen too. If thats your thing. Don't use them live but mainly when at home on my own. Can burn through pretty quick too depending on string and technique.
