Have spent.the weekend exchanging emails with Tom at Cog, from recommendation from Pantherairsoft (Shep) and just today finalised the final spec of an awesome custom loop switch thing ma bob. I wanted what my Boss-LS-2 can do but with the freedom of normal passive line selectors and for it to be true bypass. Now the boss is a fantastic bit of kit, it has lots of uses and im just making use of its signal boosting abilities myself, only i feel its hampered by its single switch and its 'all or nothing' modes. It's buffered-ness isn't that bad but it is noticeable, and bugs me like crap when I'm alone practicing. After my basic idea Tom throw some really great and useful ideas out there which I don't think I would have though about before. So now I have coming a box that will have: Channel A + clean Channel A + Channel B Channel B + clean. With the controls as follows Channel A dirty volume Channel A clean volume Channel A phase Channel B dirty volume Channel B clean volume Channel B phase Internal Master Volume. The idea being I have either one or the other mixed with clean signal or have either of them with no.clean signal. The clean level controls and master level were Tom's ideas and honestly brilliant. Reason to have an internal master trim pot was primarily save space on the top side and I'm no knob twiddler, I set and forget, and it will keep everything in check should it get bit gnarly. It'll effectively be going last in the chain, with a loop with high gained high frequencies, and the other lower gain low frequencies and I really want to add the mb VLE filter in that channel too. Tom is going to get me a diagram of it so I can start on my own art work and A name for it. No idea way but I have a few ideas. What's yours?
Yeah mate
Good look mate, very rarely co.e up.but have seen at least 2 on eBay, so its doable.

Also the natural mid scoop of J bass (with both pups) will make it seem more 'bassy'

To me there is only one reason to detune and probably only as low as drop D or D standard and its to match a certain tone quality in D that standard can't do. Anything lower, isn't that what octave pedals are for?

Got an email back from mark saying he'll have it looked at it, so I'm sending it off to him. He said it could be a dry solder/loose connection, although I had a pretty decent look an aside from a few connections being slightly burnt they all looked good enough to me and non where broken, that I could see. Hopefully have this sorted before the weekend. As most of us know mark is one of the good ones so I'm hoping this goes as smoothly as most other stuff. Will update when I get news back.

No I haven't just because it was brought from him secodhand and as much as I know personally, any sort of returns/warranty is void after a month and I've literally had it 5 weeks. Typical. Although if you guys say to send him a bell I will and update. Stephen

Annoyed is not the word. I brought this from Mark at BD just over a month ago, with him quoting it to be in excellent condition. Despite this it was adding a lot of noise and the trim pot screw was damaged, although it still worked as it should(still turnable with a screw) and I'm not a nit picker about hiss and assumed it was amplifing what was already there. It was working until last Friday. Now when its on there is nothing. Lights are on but no one is home. It still adds the same noise/and his as before and you can here the mids being.sweeper when the boost is up or down. And upon closer inspection with the amp turned quiet high i can here faint signal coming through. I have isolated the issue down to this pedal and tried with psu and with battery nd had it open and cant see any broken connections. Need some one to send it too to hopefully get it back asap. I tried Tom at Cog but he didn't want to commit with a child expected so soon.
Essential, I'd say - as is correct spelling.
Always work from a computer/laptop too. Especially if your sausage fingers are too massive for phone screens.

If I want cash quick I sell on eBay as there is a wider audience, alway start bidding at 99p and make sure they end on a Sunday or Monday evening. I paid 44 new for a more pedal and just sold it on the bay for 40 including postage. Decent picstures and a good description helps.

We've recently been lucky with gigs, we've had a few good shows at popular stages, and have more coming up along with a 3 track EP we got to record for free. Now usually the singer gets these shows out of blue and today we exchanged messages about an EP launch at a popular rescue rooms venue. Now he wants to do it at the end of the month, but we also have a big show booked to support at the end of may. Now this wouldnt be a problem if we were selling out a standard small venue but we struggled to buggary to sell 40 tickets at one show and it was the first in a while for us. Also in my eyes the EP is far off, and i personally want to give it out for free, as downloads or on CDs I dont want to come across as mardy with him as his heart is in the right place, but I don't think he is seeing it properly.
I like to wear a hat onstage sometimes. Looks good, especially when out of focus ;-)
ah the maze.... Here is a gig from a while ago at a skatepark.

I would try the amp without any effects first, you need to try and isolate the problem. I know moogs start clipping and giving off distortion when I start digging in, but the handy led should let you know what's going on.
Thought I'd resurect this thread than start a new one. I'm trying to work out if a lightweight case to fit a cab made of 6mm ply screwed and glued to an 18mm timber frame would be solid enough to support a 27kg cab. It would look like a flightcase but simpler with holes in the sides so that I can use the existing cab handles
Interesting, as this is something I was looking at doing before hand. My cab is around 27KGs too. I just don't like the idea of that screwfix thing, great idea and looks like most of you use it with success. As I don't drive saving as much space and time and weight as possible is always a help.
I made it last week on a Shuker build course. Comes in just over a grand for cost of course plus preamp pickup upgrades plus Hipshot X-tender.
OH!!! that is mint though, been meaning to save some pennies for that course.

Nice gig last night, starting to get booked for more dates at bigger and better venues, bass was big and the new Mooer drive worked a treat, pretty much what I wanted from it.
I use an LMB-3, I think it's good for a relatively cheap pedal.
It is a fantastic pedal for the price. The enhance while being poo also creates a mid scoop on your sound. Personally would go with something with more control partically if you want it to squish and sustain.

Groove or Rock, Can a player excel at both ?
Prime_BASS replied to hamfist's topic in General Discussion
I feel I can do both with ease and would say Rock is my staple. The whole and jokes that I play 'lead' bass because I grew up listening to bands whose bassist really drove the whole thing forwards. My take is that you can play anything you set your mind too, as its as simple as learning the basic principles and then practice. -
You're stood too close haha. Polytune wins hands down for accuracy.

Light weight jazz? American deluxe has a smaller body and extra frets. But one I had wasn't that light. Lightest jazz bass I've had in my hands was the medium scale mij fender jazz.
Did Rich (ou7shined) make this for you Sean? Looks fantastic!
If so it would explain where he has been. What's the price on this? About?
