So you brought this? I have an xotic BB and a guitar one on my board and I can say without a shadow of a doubt that they don't have the same bass response. Even more so when you have a lot of gain on either. I'm not sure about the bass one being brighter either. I'd say definitely more open on both the top and bottom. I agree that the guitar one is very muddy though, glad I got the mid eq version to turn them down a touch. For my regular tone; Bass BB - Vol 10 (o clock) Gain 10 Bass 3 Treb 1.5 Guitar one Vol 10 Gain 10 Bass maxed Treb 12 Mid 9 (o clock) They sound similar and behave similar, great touch sensitivity etc, however the guitar one is clearly voiced more for guitar purposes and I wouldn't choose it on its own for bass, where the bass BB sounds great on either bass or guitar.

Difference in P and J sound: is it just the pickups?
Prime_BASS replied to ingmar808's topic in General Discussion
DiMarzio Model 'J' is pretty much a 'straight' P pickup (i.e. two coils side by side in series). You could try that in the neck position - I'm sure someone on here would have one to sell you at a reasonable price. G.
This... Plus some EQ tweaks you can get a fatter sound. I will say as a avid dimarzio fan that the model J sounds brilliant but does sound different to a Model P -

Sims vs Musikraft vs Warmoth vs Allparts necks
Prime_BASS replied to The-Ox's topic in General Discussion
That's a shame but can retort with: Brought a stock body from them, it arrived damaged and offered to replace it or a full refund. Didn't want to send it back so they gave me a partial refund. Been nothing but helpful with me. -
Warmoth? Fully custom parts, choose all your own hardware, could even pay a tech to stick it together for you with that budget Edit: I did exactly this, cost me around 800/900 all in and put together myself.

Anyone in or around Nottingham have one of these for me to have a go with?

Sims vs Musikraft vs Warmoth vs Allparts necks
Prime_BASS replied to The-Ox's topic in General Discussion
Have nothing but positive comments for warmoth products. I've used the same warmth neck on a few builds now and it's solid as anything else. -
Very high pitched feedback! Urgent help needed.
Prime_BASS replied to Prime_BASS's topic in Repairs and Technical
It's a dimarzio model P. Previous bass had the same model in and never did it. I'll try the old pickup to see if it's that. Definitely something vibrating though as it gets interrupted when the D and G strings move -
So new bass build with some old parts into a new body. Old electrics were fine, a nice single volume to Jack job from kIogon, and using a brand new pickup. I was getting the loudest highest pitched feedback I've ever had! Things I've done that has helped; Checked all the copper shielding. Removed springs from pickup height screws. Lowered pickups. Turned treble down. Now I use a boat load of drive which I know will make it worse but not sure what else I can do. It didn't do this before hand and it's definitely the bass that's causing it.

As above. I brought in case I needed a small cab which I did for around a month and now I'm buying a car and need the money, I paid 300 for it. Due to being lazy I'm not shipping it, as I'm mot desperate to sell and it is priced well. It's in great condition though, although I believe I'm at least the 3rd owner. Fantastic cab, would keep if I didn't need the money as bad. Nottingham for those using mobile site. Can meet within a reasonable distance.

Guitarist obsessed with scooped tone is driving me crazy
Prime_BASS replied to Naetharu's topic in General Discussion
Hi folks, I'm being driven mad by my bands 2nd guitarist and felt like I'd share. He's got a nasty big Marshall solid state head and he sets the thing up so that he's got the contour control maxed out scooping all of the mid range. Add massive gain and we have sonic mush. Then because he can't hear himself properly he ends up cranking his volume more and more to compensate. The guy is driving me crazy with it. I've tried explaining the issue to him but he just retorts that it is 'his tone'.... Anyone else been in this scenario? Did you manage to get it sorted?
Been there and decided to tell the whole band we sound sh*t, all because one guy wants 'his tone' Along with a long rant at why he chose this tone and that we are no longer playing in his bedroom on a tiny MG30 combo, and don't need to compensate for the lack of bass guitar in a bedroom. The guy is obviously a child -
£150 posted Paypal and bank transfer accepted. A great warmoth neck had it made a year ago, and has faired extremely well compared to the body haha! I opted for no finish as I intended on oilling it but after testing it didnt like the feel. It plays perfectly fine and has no incidents along its length, plus its super smooth and fast as hell. My jaguar build has the same type on with no finish. 38mm nut white corian nut vintage fret size to keep in with the 60's styling Pearloid dots, white side dots. 20 frets 10" radius Steel rods Hex adjustment at the heel In ace condition, and as I had the hipshots installed there is only one screw hole per tuner on the back and its never had traditional bushings pressed into the holes. Would keep it but I'm getting an all maple neck. does not come with any hardware. £115 posted Paypal and Bank transfer accepted. Fantastic body the pictures don't do the body justice as these short days aren't giving much natural light. As you can see it can look very bright red, and it can look very pink it all depends on the light, been at many shows were people have commented on the cool pink bass..... 60's spacing 4 lbs 11 oz I believe its alder. Was a fresh build from warmoth a year ago, the bass it made was awesome and I gigged it hard. As such it has some 'roadworn' battle scars. Selling as im having a new build. Originally i was going to have a P installed on this, and i was drawing out where it would go, unfortunatly its left a mark and what ever white spirit i have hasnt moved it very well, its very faint and when a pickguard is on becomes invisible. I believe the price is representative of the overall condition.
