1. discussion yes. However you don't seem to be open with discussing this much further, and seemed to have made the decision before making this thread. I guess I am asking why? You haven't wasted my time though, I was ready to hopefully help someone decide if they should or shouldn't quit bass and possibly alternatives.
I think we're all wasting words, this is a classified ad
2. Any theory/performance certificates you may have, past experience?
  3.
Thanks for all the replies Guys, i have thought this through, it has not been a hasty decision, its not about the money, i currently have £1600 towards my next project already. The Roscoe basses have just been listed in the for sale forum tonight if anyone is interested. Cheers Paul.
So this thread is just advertise you have some gear for sale? Or are you wanting a some serious input? If the latter then I suggest being more proactive towards playing bass. Playing a sw***y instrument alone to CD's is definitely getting you no where. So why not join a band, covers/originals otherwise? and play bass in a more proactive way? Or do as Silddx suggested. if not then what is the point of this thread?
  4.
(Sometimes 35 gigs a month)
Wow thats a lot of gigs....... I have the sony one on my board after the stageclix failed to support my basses output at all. solid pit of kit the reciever is a bit chunky IMO and takes a fair bit of space up on my tiny pedal board, the transmitter is better all round compared to the stageclix one also, easy to change batteries(no smashing on the back with your hand) and changing channels if far far simpler and easier to understand. The lights on both the transmitter abd reciever are all informative, battery/signal etc. I do have troubles with static interference on one side of my practise room compared to the other where it is silent on all channels. IT also runs on 9v, aswell as batteries along with it's own 12v supply. The stageclix just gave distortion no matter what I did.
  5. it's all about Germany anyway.
  6. We are hopefully doing our last sh*t remtard gig with this lazy ass balls 'promoter' who has decided he is too busy to print posters and posted a message to all bands with a statement: 'I haven't posted anywhere or printed any posters for this show, if you want a poster to post somewhere yourself then message me. A poster is £2-£3 each.' FLOL JOKES, sponging ass. We got £15 from this guy on one show, cause we brought 40 people, and lets say on average each band brought 10 people. So about 70 came and paid £4 on the door. so that's £280 quid he took in, at least. Not great but the room hire(incuding sound guy) is £70. So £210. Still good for one nights worth of 'work'. Minus the £15 he gave us that's still £195. I'm lucky to get that in a week from working full time.
  7.
I need to take some pics this evening, but in the meantime here are some specs.
Should have gone specsavers.
  8.
I think the Fender Pawn Shop range will be worth more than they are now in 25 years. Also 80's Warwicks. Mainly because they're really really good quality basses and have period specific features. As for unfashionable, I think pointy basses and entry level Yamahas and Ibanez should do quite well. Truckstop
Depends if they stop making them. They discontinued the normal jaguar a while ago only to start production again a year or so later :/
  9.
Not played a terror bass but doubt you'll get to sound exactly like the ad200 due to the lack of a tube power section
a tube power section doesn't do much of anything special that a class D doesn't. With a tube power section the impendence has to match exactly to get the most out of it, with a class D it's not so important. The 'juice' of a valve power amp only makes a difference once yo start pushing as the power valves start to naturally compress the signal. IMO a class D power amp is a lot better in many ways that even today's valve power sections. The OTB has one of the most solid power sections on the market, it is 500watt in either 8 ohm or 4 ohm, regardless. Where as quiet a few that a rated similar wattage struggle to get there on burst, let a lone continuous. Unfortunatly(IMO) that's all the OTB has to offer, the EQ is lack luster, and the rest of it's features are pretty poor, even for it's price range. The EQ is the por mans passive one and comes with a naturally deep mid-scoop(lots of low mid present) and seems very boomy, to get a flat signal out of it you need the bass pretty much off. Although surprised that you found it lacking in oomph, maybe you miss-set the input gain?
  10. For me I only really got interested in the last 20 minutes are so when larry graham got mentioned.
  11. I guess it depends on the player largly. I find it pretty easy to shift from 30'' to 32" and 34" pretty easy. Even found Shep's old Roscoe which was a 6 string with wide spacing and a 35" scale pretty comfortable.
  12.
People talk often enough of the 'sweet spot' for pup location and certain folk will swear blind that the 70's placement of the rear Jazz pup is better than the 60's so there 'should' be tonal difference with the way that a pup is angled!
'Sweet spot' is still about abother 1.5cm closer to the neck on a 60's spaced jazz bridge pickup though, and it it's still down to each instruments scale length too.
  13.
I experimented when I used to make basses and I came to the same conclusion. It's a fairly subtle difference but I think it produces a more balanced sound having the E string end of the pickup nearer the bridge and the G end nearer the neck.
Correct, it's to do with the weird tensions you get on each string. A few fixes for a better balance are: slanting the pickups the way you describe, the fan fret system from Dingwall(effectively changes each strings scale length to get a better tension on each one) and then the weird string gauges that were brought up before Christmas, Alex Claber seems to use this. If I'm honest it all still sounds like bass, but I really dig the way Warwick Thumb's sound.
  14. Already spotted, get the aldi mail thing at work.
  15. more specs? more pics!?!?!?!
  16. There is a markbass classic that is all valve in the marketplace right now, bit pricey though.
  17. There are lots of fixes for the terror bass' slight problems, but the solid 500 watt at 4 or 8 ohm is more than enough to make up for it. You also need a solid cab to get the most out of a valve amp. But depends how you will use it and for what. You can always keep what you have and add more preamp valves to your signal chain, which I find alwaus helps in getting a more 'valvey' sound. The hot DI is awful, but you can always have a DI pedal on your board too. You can get some funds if you p/x that modulus to me.
  18. Don't fancy shifting your modulus for my 'berg??
  19. My band is on the lookout for a lead guitarist to join us with in the next few months. We have a fair few songs, have begun recording(with the current lead) and have booked shows at established venues at the Bodega and Rock City. A small but good fanbase, and plenty of gigs coming through the door. Our stuff is currently simple pop-punk based riff strongly based around major scales, and most songs only really containing a 4 chords for chorus/verse. We are looking for someone who is eager to learn, and write songs, work well with singer in melodies, comfortable in standard tuning, has all their own gear which is reliable and willing to travel to our free rehearsal space most Fridays(even on gig weeks). The space is provided to us via the council so good conduct is a must but we aim to have fun at the end of the day. Contact me through here or the band through facebook(the links down below) Stephen
  20.
Really good. Tried it out on a quiet jazz trio gig and it was great. Only thing I'm not sure with it is that it doesn't match as well as I'd like with my Vanderkley. I bet x2 Focus cabs would sound awesome. Same with Vanderkley.
well for how cheap the cab is compared to the vanderkley I wouldn't worry to much. Taken the 410 in this week, only had a little play and it has the best midrange of any 410 I've tried and heard. My only worry is the height of it, being a tall lad on small stages I always struggle to hear backline that is short.
  21.
Cheers guys this is perfect for what I need
I use the powerstation. great bit of kit, powers loads of stuff with no issues. I only have the one power lead leaving the board and a single lead going from the board to amp, as I now use a wireless system which the diago powers fine.
  22. Personally it has a fairly 'tubey' sound with the EQ at 12'o clock. As it is naturally bass heavy and mid scooped.
  23. Sounds like you will need to possibly DIY a whole tier? I'd be interested too as I have a power supply I need to mount to my nano, as my sony wireless system has taken up nearly all available space.

    Merton

Sold Merton my SFX micro thumpinator, very quick and easy. paid very fast and was nothing but a pleasure to deal with.
  25.
\ Same here! It was searching that got me in to this trouble! - Ok, I will post back when I have had a chance tr try the pedal out. I think if it is what I am expecting from the video's suggestion, this could be a winner!
Looks good, report back. My only problem would be lack of controls, so would prefer to have the nova dynamics, if one ever turns up second hand.
